Noojee Trestle Bridge Rail Trail & Loco J 550
Noojee to Trestle Bridge (3km)
About 1km after leaving Noojee the trail widens to form a vehicle turning circle. Proceed around the mound on the right.
The Trestle bridge is reached after 2.5km. There are steep steps at each end leading to the car park.
The trail narrows and finishes another 300m, where another trestle bridge once spanned the gully below.
This trail is part of the branch line from Warragul that opened in 1919. It was gradually closed in sections between 1954 and 1958. This area suffers from bush fires and required a lot of expensive repairs on many occasions. The Noojee Trestle was destroyed by fire in 1939, and rebuilt again in the same year. It is an impressive structure spanning 102 metres, is 21 metres high, and is supported by 19 sets of piles.
The Noojee and District Historical Society's plans to restore the original railway site in Noojee including the station and surrounding tracks, goods shed, turn table and new additions of an underground museum and cultural centre.
The official opening of the 'Noojee Heritage Project Centre' occurred in December 2011 comprising of the Society's five-stage plan to reconstruct the site. The Noojee Heritage Project Centre will begin with stage one, which will see the construction of the goods shed and surrounding decking, a car park and appropriate sign age in the township.

The First Mainline Run of an A2
Steamrail Victoria
A2 986
Hello All,
Today I have a video from Steamrail where they hit another milestone for Victorian Railways Heritage.
A 20 year restoration and 50 years since it last rolled on the Mainline, Steamrail's A2 986 was rostered to do some Mainline testing between Newport to Sunshine via the Goods Line.
In this video we follow the A2 during it's first and second service up to Sunshine. The Formation was with A2 986 back to back with T395.
A2 986 is one of the 5 A2 class locomotives which were saved from the scrappers torch, but was the only which was allowed for restoration. A2 986 was sitting in the park at Warragul but was switched out with J550 which has now been moved to Noojee. A2 986 is due back on the mainline but the end of 2016.

03:46 - Sunshine Road

Dido’s Lament
“When I am laid, am laid in earth,
May my wrongs create
No trouble, no trouble in thy breast;
Remember me, remember me, but ah! forget my fate.
Remember me, but ah! forget my fate.”
from the opera “Dido and Aeneas” by Henry Purcell, libretto by Nahum Tate (c. 1688).
