St Augustine Beach - Favorite Places
This video shows some of my favorite places to see and hang out in St. Augustine Beach, FL. I've been visiting St. Augustine Beach for over 10 years. It's a nice casual place with no high rise buildings. The beach is beautiful. This video was made during our last visit in Nov 2019.

St. Augustine was founded on September 8, 1565, by Spanish admiral and Florida's first governor, Pedro Menéndez de Avilés. He named the settlement San Agustín, as his ships bearing settlers, troops, and supplies from Spain had first sighted land in Florida on August 28, 1565, the feast day of St. Augustine. The city served as the capital of Spanish Florida for over 200 years, and remained the capital of East Florida when the territory briefly changed hands between Spain and Britain. It was designated the capital of the Florida Territory until Tallahassee was made the capital in 1824. Since the late 19th century, St. Augustine's distinct historical character has made the city a major tourist attraction. It is also the headquarters for the Florida National Guard.

St. Augustine (Spanish: San Agustín) is a city in the Southeastern United States, on the Atlantic coast of northeastern Florida. Founded in 1565 by Spanish explorers, it is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement within the borders of the continental United States.
The county seat of St. Johns County, St. Augustine is part of Florida's First Coast region and the Jacksonville metropolitan area. According to the 2010 census, the city's population was 12,975. The United States Census Bureau's 2013 estimate of the city's population was 13,679, while the urban area had a population of 71,379 in 2012.
St. Augustine was founded on September 8, 1565, by Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, Florida's first governor. He named the settlement San Agustín, as his ships bearing settlers, troops, and supplies from Spain had first sighted land in Florida eleven days earlier on August 28, the feast day of St. Augustine. The city served as the capital of Spanish Florida for over 200 years. It was designated as the capital of British East Florida when the colony was established in 1763 until it was ceded to Spain in 1783.
Spain ceded Florida to the United States in 1819, and St. Augustine was designated the capital of the Florida Territory upon ratification of the Adams–Onís Treaty in 1821. The Florida National Guard made the city its headquarters that same year. The territorial government moved and made Tallahassee the capital in 1824. Since the late 19th century, St. Augustine's distinct historical character has made the city a major tourist attraction.

One of the most desirable properties in the heart of Historic St. Augustine, FL, The Old Mansion sits on an entire city block within the The Abbott Tract, an historic district that is on the US Registry of Historic Places. Originally built by Lucy Abbott herself in 1880, The Old Mansion can be enjoyed in many ways, be it a single family residence, a Bed and Breakfast or possibly an event space, this is a very rare and unique opportunity.
The main home has four bedrooms and two one bedroom apartments and the coach house has two studio apartments. Just blocks from the oldest masonry fort in the US, Castillo de San Marcos, historic St. George Street and the Fountain of Youth, The Old Mansion is located in the heart of Historic St. Augustine, FL.
Purchased and lovingly renovated in 1980 by the current owner, the interior is designed after a Victorian English Manor reminding the owner of her youth. Elaborate plasterwork, wood paneling, stained glass and other features stand out giving the home a feeling of timeless elegance.
The spacious gardens are covered by a canopy of old oaks, estimated to be over 225 years old. Garden paths, flowers, fountains and sculptures create the feeling of a secret hidden garden in the heart of the city.
Do not miss out on this piece of history that can be enjoyed in so many ways for generations to come.
