Watch Giant Cruise Ship Crush Tiny Marina
This new video by a passenger aboard the cruise ship Carnival Vista provides a new view of the moment the giant cruise ship destroyed a marina as it departed Messina, Italy in August.
As you can see from this view it looks like wind may have played a factor, pushing the cruise ship to within just feet of the small marina before the Captain fired up the thrusters to back the ship off the docks. Unfortunately the thrust was so much that the prop wash acted as a small tsunami swamping boats and overturning piers at the marina.
This incident could have been prevented if - instead of using the ship's massive thrusters to make the turn - the Captain had called a tugboat to push the ship around the bend.
gCaptain’s earlier reports on this incident:

SUMMARY
=======
The National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) is a national, high-school science competition managed by the Consortium for Ocean Leadership (COL) which started in the 1970s (formerly the Consortium for Oceanographic Research and Education). It uses a quiz-bowl format, with lockout buzzers and extended team challenge questions to test students on their knowledge of oceanography. This includes the subjects of biology, chemistry, geology, geography, social science, technology, and physics. The annual competition was started in 1998, the International Year of the Ocean. The current director of NOSB is Kristen Yarincik, who is based out of Washington, DC. Currently there are 25 regions in the U.S. that compete in the NOSB, each with their own regional competitions. The regional competitions are coordinated by the Regional Coordinators, who are typically affiliated with a university in their region. Each year approximately 2,000 students from 300 schools across the nation compete for prizes and a trip to the national competition. The goal of this organization is to increase knowledge of the ocean among high school students and, ultimately, magnify the public understanding of ocean research. Students who participate are eligible to apply for the National Ocean Scholar Program.

MERMAID CORPSE Washes Up On Beach
Billschannel viewer Caveguy 22 sent me this video clip of a mermaid that the video claims was found on the beach.
Cavegus said, “I’ve seen this thingy around and would like to know if it is real or fake?
I took a long look at the video. It starts out on a beach with lots of white sand, wanders around for awhile, then comes across a washed up mermaid corpse in the mangroves. It then lingers over the mermaid, taking a variety of shots to show us all the details… the back, the skin, the head, the hair and even the face.
Caveguy, I don’t have to do a lot of work on this one because guess what… I already explained this one in another video of mine.
In that video, I revealed that what we aere looking at is actually a hoax - It was made to help promote the work of a taxidermist from Tampa, Florida - called Juan Cabana. It was all part of a hoax to help him sell his creation on ebay… which he got 1500 for…
Now let’s see is this video real, or fake… let me think. Ok, I’m going to call it fake.
Hey if you have a picture or some video that you not sure weather it is real or not, send it over to me aT BILLSCHANNEL @Gmail.com or my Facebook, Facebook.com/billschannel

Newquay, Cornwall - 19 Oct 2014
This is the first video I've shot with with my Glidecam HD 2000 on a 5d mkII assembled with a 17-40mm lens. I have also used my iPhone and GoPro for slow motion and surfing (the rig was pretty funny looking, I bluetacked the gopro onto my dslr). We have planned to go down to Newquay to surf and I thought that should be the perfect place to try out my new toy. Friends, sunshine, surf, laughter and beautiful places - that should be the sum of the video you see. Hope you enjoy it! Feel free to leave feedback I welcome them with open heart.
