Scott and Pol from The Q and The Zone visit Discovery Island, courtesy of Ocean River Sports (thanks for getting us out there) and Captain Tom on the Discovery Shuttle (thanks for getting us over there). Stuff encountered: Seals, eagles, banana slugs, crabs, gaily hued kayaks, fantastic listeners, tadpoles, an autonomous lighthouse, deer bedrooms, mosquitoes the size of canned hams, a wolfie warning and more. Oh, and lunch.

Discovery Island Marine Park Newest Ocean River Sports Attraction
DISCOVERY ISLAND -- Ask these guides and they'll tell you there's a lot to discover on Discovery Island. Just minutes away from the shores of Oak Bay, Discovery Island Marine Park is a 61 hectare island archipelago, and the newest attraction for Ocean River Sports.
The company is launching two new tours which promise to take you on an adventure without going far from home. From the initial boat ride, to kayaking remote shores to walking the pristine trails, you don't have to be experienced in the outdoors to participate. Locals are encouraged to give it a try.
Tours launch from the Oak Bay Marina. But when the Oak Bay Beach Hotel opens, tourists will just have to walk to the dock to sign up for this unique experience. A trip to discover Discovery island may be the perfect way to spend a day with dad. Tours begin this weekend, just in time for Father's Day.

Coastal Wolf Spotted on Discovery Island Near Victoria
DISCOVERY ISLAND -- There is a mystery lurking on Discovery Island off Oak Bay, and it had Ministry of Environment staff baffled.
There is an animal roaming the island, first reported by campers in May.
A strange dog, making its home on the uninhabited island that is half park half first nations reserve.
It was skittish and wouldn't come close. Now there are more sightings and more stories, and Park Rangers and Conservation Officers think this is not a dog at all.
After a clear photo was snapped, it became clear. There is a Coastal Wolf on the small island.
People are asked to stay away from the wild animal so it doesn't get used to human contact. The Ministry hopes to catch the wolf and relocate it somewhere it belongs, behind Shawnigan Lake or near Port Renfrew where there are known packs.
If you see the wolf do not approach it or give it food.
Conservation Officers believe it will likely leave on its own, and could swim to the closest land, which would be Ten Mile Point near Oak Bay
