The Columbus Museum - Columbus, Georgia - Aerial View
This video was filmed with a DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ quadcopter on May 24, 2015.
Founded in 1953, the Columbus Museum is one of the largest museums in the Southeast and is unique for its dual concentration on American art and regional history, displayed in its permanent collection, temporary exhibitions, and educational programs.
When noted Columbus industrialist W.C. Bradley died in 1947, his family donated his 13-acre estate to the city of Columbus to be used as a center of culture and education. Located in the heart of the Wynnton neighborhood in a 1912 Mediterranean Revival house, the Columbus Museum of Arts and Crafts opened its doors to the public on March 29, 1953. Director Edward Swift Shorter quickly launched an ambitious schedule, including lectures and classes related to the Museum’s exhibitions of fine art and American Indian archaeological artifacts. As the institution grew, its name became shorter (now just the Columbus Museum), and its collecting focus changed to include American art in all mediums and artifacts that tell the story of human habitation in the Lower Chattahoochee River Valley.
In April 1989, a major expansion of the Museum resulted in the creation of an architecturally stunning, world-class facility. Still incorporating the original Bradley home, the Museum is now 89,000 square feet, including an interactive children’s gallery, a 300-seat auditorium, and a large atrium for special events. Galleries showcase both permanent and temporary exhibitions on regional history and American art, while a multimedia theater offers a film exploring the history and culture of the Chattahoochee Valley. Visitors can also enjoy the Bradley Olmsted Garden, designed in the 1920s by the Olmsted Brothers firm, founded by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted.
Today, the Columbus Museum’s dedicated board and staff continue its legacy as a cultural center. In partnership with the Muscogee County School District, the Museum seeks to educate and inspire with a variety of exhibitions and programs, matching its slogan: “Always changing, always free.”

Places to see in ( Knoxville - USA )
Places to see in ( Knoxville - USA )
Knoxville is a city on the Tennessee River in eastern Tennessee. Downtown, the Market Square district has 19th-century buildings with shops and restaurants. The Museum of East Tennessee History has interactive exhibits plus regional art, textiles and Civil War artifacts. James White’s Fort, built by the Revolutionary War captain, includes the reconstructed 1786 log cabin that was Knoxville’s first permanent building.
Knoxville is in Eastern Tennessee, United States. It is the third-largest city in the state. It is the home of the University of Tennessee's primary campus (UTK) and site of the 1982 World's Fair. Knoxville is on the Tennessee River about an hour from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Once called the 'scruffy little city', the downtown is undergoing a rapid renaissance as young people move into the lofts and apartments created from the factories and warehouses of another era. On any evening of the week, throngs of residents and visitors can be seen at the sidewalk cafes, theaters, restaurants and night clubs along Gay Street and Market Square. The University of Tennessee, with its 27,000 students, is within walking distance of the downtown, separated only by the World's Fair Park.
One can still see remnants of the 1982 World's Fair in the Sunsphere, a rising structure topped with a gold sphere which dots Knoxville's skyline, however, most of the other structures from the Fair were removed to create a large city park which attracts families, students, and artists on weekends and sunny days. The World's Fair brought a lot of attention and development to the city, including high-rise office structures, and the four-star Hilton, Crowne Plaza and Marriott hotels.
Knoxville is home to the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, but the city seems dominated by the University of Tennessee Volunteers (men only) and Lady Volunteers athletics. The basketball teams play in the 21,000+ seat Thompson Boling Arena, and the nationally recognized football team plays in Neyland Stadium, one of the largest on-campus stadiums in the world at 103,000 seating capacity. During the fall you will find plenty of orange in the foliage, but you will see Big Orange year round with the people of Knoxville.
Dubbed a 'scruffy little city' by the Wall Street Journal before the 1982 World's Fair, Knoxville is strutting its stuff these days as an increasingly prominent and well-polished destination for outdoor, gastronomy and craft-beer enthusiasts. Knoxville is also home to the University of Tennessee and its rabid college-football fan base. On game days the whole town is painted orange as fans pack Neyland Stadium to watch the beloved Volunteers. But there's more to Knoxville than football. No longer content to play second fiddle to nearby Chattanooga and Asheville, the city – a former textiles production center – now touts itself as a base camp for visitors to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Sugarlands Visitor Center is just 29 miles away, and Knoxville is a far more enticing spot to eat and drink than other cities near the park. For hikers and mountain bikers, the city's ever-expanding Urban Wilderness is becoming its own reason to visit.

Teaching art or teaching to think like an artist? | Cindy Foley | TEDxColumbus
What is the purpose and value of Art education in the 21st Century? Foley makes the case the Art’s critical value is to develop learners that think like Artists which means learners who are creative, curious, that seek questions, develop ideas, and play. For that to happen society will need to stop the pervasive, problematic and cliché messaging that implies that creativity is somehow defined as artistic skill. This shift in perception will give educators the courage to teach for creativity, by focusing on three critical habits that artist employ, 1. Comfort with Ambiguity, 2. Idea Generation, and 3. Transdisciplinary Research. This change can make way for Center’s for Creativity in our schools and museums where ideas are king and curiosity reigns.
Cindy Meyers Foley is the Executive Assistant Director and Director of Learning and Experience at the Columbus Museum of Art. Foley worked to reimagine the CMA as a 21st century institution that is transformative, active, and participatory. An institution that impacts the health and growth of the community by cultivating, celebrating and championing creativity. Foley envisioned and led the charge to open the 18,000 sq. ft. Center for Creativity in 2011. In 2013, the museum received the National Medal for Museums in recognition of this work. Foley guest edited and wrote chapters for Intentionality and the Twenty-First-Century Museum, for the summer 2014 Journal of Museum Education.
In 2012, Foley received the Greater Columbus Arts Council Community Arts Partnership award for Arts Educator. She was a keynote speaker for the OAEA (Ohio Art Education Association) 2012 Conference. She is on the Faculty of Harvard University’s Future of Learning Summer Institute.
Foley is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and The Ohio State University. Prior to joining the Museum, she was with the Institute of Contemporary Art at the Maine College of Art, the Portland Museum of Art, and the Wexner Center for the Arts.

Caged: Humans and Animals at the Zoo (a History Talk podcast)
Zoos are some of the world’s most visited attractions. Yet they often make headlines for controversial reasons such as in 2016 when the Cincinnati Zoo shot and killed a gorilla after a child fell into the animal’s enclosure or in 2017 when poachers killed a rhinoceros at a Paris Zoo for its horns. While schoolchildren and adults alike may delight at the prospect of a trip to the zoo, historically zoos have represented far more than a fun way to spend an afternoon. Explore zoos past and present in this episode of History Talk where hosts Brenna Miller and Jessica Blissit speak with historians Daniel Vandersomers and Tracy McDonald.

How to tell if your Oriental Rugs are Valuable with Fox 5
From stitching to repairs. What to look for when picking a repair house and what to expect as a price if selling, for your oriental rugs.
When a heirloom item or estate needs to be estimated for its worth, hiring an accredited and proven and acclaimed expert is where to begin. All the major auction houses, a large number of New York's affluent families, and Fortune 500 businesses rely on Lee Drexler and her firm, Esquire Appraisals Inc., for personal treasures or high profile estate and matrimonial appraisals.
Valuable fine art, antiques, furniture, Oriental rugs, Objets d'Art, china, collectables and jewelry appraisals are all within her spectrum of interest and skill. For an appraiser to be excellent, individual study abroad is required. Her in-depth study spans all the major Art Museums of Europe, China, Japan, India, Nepal, Thailand, Greece, Israel, Jordan Egypt, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Australia and the major art museums of The United States. Traveling and studying around the globe in 82 countries and her strong foundation of university education and certifications, makes her one of the most highly-qualified appraisers today.
