It is the one year anniversary of this vlog. To celebrate we decided to show you around some of our favourite things to do in the city we live, Victoria B.C. I started the vlog in the Inner Harbour. You will see a busker behind me on the busker stage doing some juggling. There are always lots of artists sharing their talents in Victoria :)
The first thing we did was go to Oak Bay Marina to feed the seals. The end of January on a Tuesday afternoon is a good time to feed them. They are good and ready for some frozen herring then!
We did a little mailtime. Thanks Nicci for your care package for Dressember. The other thing that came was a hard drive. We need a lot of hard drive space to backup our videos. We received a 6 terabyte hard drive. Thank you for your donations, they help us to back up our videos. During mailtime there were a family of otters.
I love going shopping on Lower Johnson street in Victoria and supporting the local shops. I also love Davids Tea. Government street is also a great place to go shopping. We recommend Murchies and Munros on Government Street. Rogers chocolates is great for samples. We love Rocky Mountain chocolate factory for the chocolate apples. We always get them for birthday gift. Today we got one for Trinity’s fifteenth birthday.
Trounce Alley is another great little alley to check out off of Government street. There is a store down that alley that just sells buttons. Instinct art and gifts is where we get our incense. When you come through Trounce Alley, you come to Broad street and I show you The Vitamin Shop and that is where I buy my vitamins.
On Friday morning we went for a hike. My number one reason for moving to the West coast was the hiking. Our tactic for finding a place to hike was to drive past Langford, looked for cars parked on the side of the road and walked into the woods. The ground was so lush in the forest.
Annemarie asked me what my biggest fear was, how I overcame it and how it transformed it. I thought it was a good question. I answer this question in the vlog at around 13 mins.
Saturday morning we went to some of our favourite bakeries in Victoria. This was a unanimous vote when we asked you what you wanted us to do!
I think Crust Bakery is one of the most irresistible bakeries in Victoria B.C.
Next up was Fol Epi. This bakery is stunning!
My favourite bakery is Origins Gluten Free Bakery. This bakery has a wide assortment of gluten free options. I love their pastry.

Dressember & Christmas Trucks in Victoria : Vlog 44

We began the vlog this week filming Yoga with Melissa 360, a class on How to Balance in Half Moon Balancing Pose. In this class we talked about how our energy is not always constant and how it waxes and wanes, just like the moon depending on the time of day, phase of the moon and the seasons. I filmed a beginner yoga class for Yoga with Kassandra’s channel this week. She is a fellow Canadian instructor who lives in Ottawa (sorry I got that wrong in the video!) She is going to be doing a beginner yin yoga video for my channel so watch for that :)
On Saturday evening we went to the 2016 IEOA Truck Light Convoy and Food Drive in Victoria B.C. The Victoria Harbour was all lit up for Christmas. It was a rainy night but that didn’t dampen our spirits. :)
Linzi was visiting family in Victoria for Christmas and so I got to have West Coast Bennies with her at Bubby’s Kitchen in Cook Street Village. If you aren’t already following your friend Linzi from Live Meditation classes on Monday nights, then here is her instagram

If you are wondering what to do in Victoria B.C., then this is the vlog for you. We are going to share with you our top ten things to do in Victoria B.C. Put on your pedometers and fitbits because most of them are in walking distance in downtown Victoria and you will have bragging rights about the number of steps you walk each day. Some of them are a short drive out of town if you have a car. We have shared our best free things to do in Victoria and some of the things that are well worth the money.
#10 Whale Watching Tours with BC Whale Tours
Whale watching in Victoria BC is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It is worth the extra money to go out on a whale watching tour. If you are in Victoria and you have the time and money, make sure you go whale watching at least once.
#9 Fan Tan Alley in Chinatown
One of the most interesting things to do in Victoria BC is visit Fan Tam Alley in Chinatown. The Alley is great for photography and shopping. My personal favourite is Kid Sister Ice Cream.
#8 Shopping in Victoria BC, Lower Johnson to Government Street
My favourite place to shop in Victoria BC are the shops on Lower Johnson and then walk along Government Street. There are lots of independently owned businesses with local artisans that you will not find anywhere else.
#7 Victoria Bakery
Victoria BC has no shortage of fabulous bakeries. Our personal favourite is Crust Bakery on Fort Street. I would recommend their cronuts, a cross between a croissant and a donut.
#6 Beacon Hill Park Petting Zoo - Running of the Goats, Goat Stampede!
The gate to the Beacon Hill Children’s Farm open’s at 10 am in the summer and everyday at 10:10 am there is the adorable “Running of the Goats,” 30 seconds of sheer joy.
#5 Beacon Hill Park
Beacon Hill Park is over 200 acres of gorgeous parkland in downtown Victoria BC. There are bridges, lakes, ponds, paths, gardens, trees, flowers, running streams, ducks, birds, wildlife, eagles, and blue herons. It is a beautiful place to go for a walk or sit on a park bench.
#4 Goldstream Provincial Park
If you have a car you can take a short drive out of town to Goldstream Provincial Park. The park boasts some beautiful old-growth trees including Douglas firs and Western Red Cedars. Some of them are 600 years old. You can walk the flat trails around the lower part of the park or if you are feeling adventurous take a hike up to the Railway Trestle.
#3 Mount Doug (Mount Douglas Park)
Again if you have a car you can drive out to Saanich and take a drive to the top of Mount Doug from noon to dusk each day. Churchill Drive allows you to drive to the top seven days a week, or if you are feeling fit, you can take any of the trails from the bottom to the summit for spectacular 360 degree views of the city.
#2 Eat at Red Fish Blue Fish
Our favourite restaurant in Victoria BC is Red Fish Blue Fish. Red Fish Blue Fish actually isn’t a restaurant, you have to line up and for a long time at an up-cycled cargo container in the Inner Harbour for your fish and chips or tacones. Then you get to sit on the wooden pier and eat your seafood with a view of the sea planes, sailboats, kayakers and seals in the inner harbour. I will say it again, is worth the line up!
#1 Feed the Seals at Oak Bay Marina
Our number one thing to do in Victoria BC is to feed the seals at Oak Bay Marina. The harbour seals are super fun and entertaining as you throw them frozen fish pieces. You will love capturing their cute faces for your instagram feed. This is always the highlight of our visitors’ stay.

Michael is one of our Brand Warriors, a fully qualified Yoga Trainer and Personal Trainer. He is based in Victoria, Canada. Michael has been running Four Body Design since 2015, helping students to create greater health, fitness and purpose in their lives. When he was younger he dealt with anxiety and he developed ulcerative colitis - an auto-immune disease that affects the large intestine. This diagnosis and anxiety caused him to plunge into a downward spiral towards depression and a complete breakdown. Thankfully, after having reached rock bottom, he was able to rebuild himself back to his former self and he attributes Yoga as being the main catalyst which sparked this transformation.

Michael is a fully qualified yoga teacher and personal trainer based in Victoria, Canada. Michael has been running Four Body Design since 2015, helping students to create greater health, fitness and purpose in their lives. When he was younger he dealt with a lot of anxiety that was unbeknownst to him at the time. As a teenager he developed Ulcerative Colitis, which is an auto-immune disease that affects the large intestine. This diagnosis led to a deep depression and complete breakdown. In this state of utter destruction, he was able to rebuild and begin the journey of truly knowing himself. Yoga was the main catalyst to spark this transformation.
