Things to Do in Belfast - Belfast Tour - Belfast Attractions
For all those who are coming to Belfast soon and still didn't make a plan for the places they have to visit then this is the video for you because we have brought those hot spots of Belfast, Northern Ireland, and the things to do and the places to visit to try and help a little bit.
When you first arrive in Belfast - if you are coming by bus or train - you will arrive at the Europa station where you will be landing in the heart of Belfast and should then get ready for the different things you are going to do and see.
Just across the street from the famous Europa station, there is the oldest bar in Belfast city, the Crown Liquor Bar, so you could start your day with warming up with Guinness or you could even leave that part of the day to the end, to when you will come back to the same station to go back where you came from.
From the different interesting things to do in Belfast is to visit the Grand Opera House and attend any of the shows which might be taking place there. The Grand Opera House is on the other side of the street from the bar and there are always loads of shows there, so definitely go ahead with it and book yourself something to watch, you will definitely enjoy your time there and will find a different kind of thing to do in the evening.
So, getting done with the first part and which is all related to the landing location, there are still other places in Belfast which one should visit. One of the things that are considered a must to visit in this city is Belfast City Hall which was built in the very late 1800 and which we consider a really different kind of building. For those who are willing to visit Belfast City Hall - which we believe lots of people already have this on their plan - there are tours held in the morning which will take you through all the rooms of the building for free, and there is also a new exhibition which was added recently about the history of Belfast and the key events of the city which we believe is really good for the kids as well (
Leaving Belfast City Hall behind, there is one thing which we believe is important - for women the most :-) - which is shopping. If you want to do a little bit of shopping in Belfast then you have to take our advice and go to the Royal Avenue which is considered one of the main shopping streets in Belfast with different local as well as international brands and there are also some coffee shops and restaurants for those who want to take a rest from their shopping, and there is also the favorite Victoria Square shopping center which carries lots of different shops inside that will give people the chance to buy everything from there, as well as the top floor which is all about restaurants. Lastly, there is also the Castle Court which is one of the original shopping centers in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which carries all the different types of shops that you might be searching for and again there is an eating area with loads of fast food restaurants.
We are suggesting those places which people could visit as some kind of knowing more about the culture and history of Belfast, and we will also suggest those places which will give people a suggestion for a place which they want to visit at night. If you want to have a place to spend your night at then you could head to the Cathedral Quarter which is filled with hotels, restaurants, and bars which you could choose one from and spend some time at ( One of our favorite places is The Merchant Hotel which is the only five stars hotel in Belfast and which is great for those who want to spend their night in a different kind of way like having a cup of tea or enjoying a cocktail.
Just beside The Merchant Hotel there is the famous Anne's Cathedral, which also happens to be one of the most famous cathedrals in Belfast which is really old and one could get inside and have a tour in this old beautiful building (
The best thing about Belfast is that everything is within a walking distance, so walking away from The Merchant Hotel and Anne's Cathedral, one will reach the Albert clock which is a really old monument in Belfast ( and also for those who will get straight across, they will get to the Titanic Quarter where one could enjoy the museum and get the chance to see this area across the river (
The last thing we would recommend for those searching for something to do in Belfast is book a show or performance at the Ulster Hall which hosts a lot of musical events like the classical musical events with the orchestra.
If you want to find more about Belfast then Visit Belfast is the place for you which is a tourist information center.

Popular Locations in Belfast - Northern Ireland
Belfast attractions are numerous and every single destination carries a story that would make the tourists more interested to know more about before moving on to the next. In this video, we are going to share a quick list for the places which visitors have to check while they are in Belfast.
Passing through the different important and historical sightseeing attractions in Belfast, we didn't forget to come across the general famous buildings or even hotels that might be well known among the Irish people. Europa Hotel in Belfast was one stop in our tour and this is a four-star hotel located in Great Victoria Street, which hosted presidents, prime ministers and celebrities throughout its journey. One of the reasons why this hotel is that famous around the world is the number of times it has been bombed, that it has even been referred to as the most bombed hotel in Europe or even the most bombed hotel in the world and that's for being bombed 36 times during The Troubles.
Walking through the streets of Belfast, touring this beautiful city and getting to know more about its history, we also passed by the Grand Opera House which its auditorium is the best surviving example in the United Kingdom of the oriental style applied to theatre architecture. There are different shows which you will be able to choose from while you are there, and you could also check them on the internet beforehand.
One of the significant buildings in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is the City Hall building, which will attract tourists to it from the outside look before even they get the chance to have a tour inside. Belfast City Hall is located in Donegall Square, it faces the north and it divides the commercial and business areas of the city centre. Tourists are allowed to get inside this building and have a tour inside in the allowed rooms to check the Porte-Cochere and Grand Entrance, the Grand Staircase, the Reception Room and the Great Hall (which was destroyed during the Belfast Blitz and was then rebuilt again) (
Walking down the streets of Belfast city - in the centre of the city to be specific - is always needed for one to explore the city on a closer look and pass by some of the old buildings and the still-existing shops (
A little bit of shopping is also sometimes needed and that is when it comes to Victoria Square in Belfast which is one of the most famous shopping places in the city - you could also get inside and have something to eat since this place also has a food court (
One of the things we love about Belfast and its attractions is that most of them are located close to one another, which will give those willing to walk the chance to explore the city while they are jumping from one touristic attraction to the other.
Going further with the other important places to visit in Belfast, St. Anne's Cathedral will come next. St. Anne's Cathedral is also known as Belfast Cathedral and it is also located in Donegall Street ( The unusual thing about St. Anne's Cathedral is serving two separate dioceses, Connor and Down and Dromore, since a cathedral is a place where a bishop has a seat. St. Anne's Cathedral is the focal point of the Cathedral Quarter in Belfast and the main reason behind giving this part of the city that name, which is another old part of the city that we recommend for tourists to visit (
Among the famous sculptures in Belfast city, there is The Big Fish sculpture that is also known as The Salmon of Knowledge and which is a printed ceramic mosaic that is done by John Kindness. The Big Fish is 10 meters long and it is placed in Donegall Quay in Belfast, and it was constructed and installed back in 1999, which means that it is not an old touristic attraction but one which you will enjoy seeing in real for the texts and images related to the history of Belfast which are found on those ceramic pieces (
Castles, palaces and museums are always the main interest of tourists and when we are in Belfast then mentioning Belfast Castle is a must and visiting it should be done. Belfast Castle is set on slopes of Cavehill Country Park, in a prominent position 400 ft above sea level, which provides the visitors views over the city of Belfast and Belfast Lough, so it ends up being a destination for the castle itself as well as the views one will receive from up there (
And finally, we should guide you to Titanic Museum in Belfast and let you know more about the story of this important and old ship that sunk back in history (

1970s Belfast Housing | Poverty | Religious Divide | Belfast - Drawing the line | This Week | 1976
An extract from a 'This Week' on housing in Belfast.
Belfast is a divided city. Since 1969, Northern Ireland has experienced Europe’s worst post—war forcible transfer of population. 60,000 people, most of them in Belfast, have left their homes through fear or intimidation. Most have fled to the safety of their tribal ghettoes. Belfast east of the River Lagan is almost entirely Protestant. Great swathes of West Belfast are solidly Catholic.
But Belfast is also Britain’s worst—housed City: 50% of its population lives in what the government defines as sub—standard accommodation. The housing is worst in the over—crowded Catholic areas, where there is simply no room for new houses. Any attempt to relieve the crisis comes up sharply against the fierce facts of the sectarian divide.

UK: NORTHERN IRELAND: US PRESIDENT CLINTON BELFAST VISIT
English/Nat
The first U-S President ever to visit Northern Ireland touched down in a chilly Belfast morning on Thursday, for a trip expected to give further impetus to the Northern Ireland peace process.
After his visit to London on Wednesday President Clinton continued to praise the agreement reached between the British and Irish governments.
But he also used a keynote speech at a factory in Belfast to hint that the I-R-A's political wing, Sinn Fein, should not be blocked from peace talks - a message underlined by a later meeting with the party's leader Gerry Adams.
As Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton left Air Force One they were greeted by Britain's Cabinet level minister responsible for Northern Ireland - Sir Patrick Mayhew.
Clinton's first official engagement was his keynote speech at a factory, but he made a surprise stop to meet the people of the fiercely pro-British Shankhill Road.
Security was intense as the president visited a small grocery shop and shook hands with some of the hundreds of people lining the road.
The Shankhill Road was the site of a number of shootings and bombings during the conflict between the mainly-Catholic pro-Republican I-R-A and pro-British Unionists.
Clinton then went on to the Mackie Metal factory, situated close to the peace line - a wall which separates nationalist West and unionist East Belfast.
Clinton was given a rousing reception as he entered the factory.
The company - which dates back to the 1840's - was once known for exclusively employing Protestants, but now has a mixed workforce and prides itself as a model of sectarian relations.
Among the audience were 200 children from local schools who had all written letters to the U-S President.
Two of them - David Sterrett, a 10-year-old Protestant, and Catherine Hamill, a 9-year-old Roman Catholic, read their letters aloud.
SOUNDBITE:
My name is Catherine Hamill. My daddy works as an assistant at Stewarts' warehouse. I live in Belfast. I love where I live. My first daddy died in the troubles - it was the saddest day of my life. I still think of him. Now it is nice and peaceful. I like having peace and quiet for a change instead of people shooting and killing. My Christmas wish is that peace and love will last in Ireland forever. Please have a safe journey back to America. I hope you enjoy your visit to Ireland.
SUPER CAPTION: Catherine Hamill, schoolgirl
The most powerful man in the world was clearly moved.
SOUNDBITE:
This is one of those occasion where I fell that all that needs to be said has already been said.
SUPER CAPTION: Bill Clinton, U-S President
President Clinton reminded the audience that the main beneficiaries of peace were such children.
SOUNDBITE:
For 25 years now the history of Northern Ireland has been written in the blood of children and their parents. The ceasefire turned the page on that history it must not be allowed to turn back.
SUPER CAPTION: Bill Clinton, U-S President
Clinton cited the progress of peace and reconciliation throughout the world, from South Africa and Haiti to Bosnia and the Middle East.
The most controversial note of the speech came when he appeared to endorse the participation of Sinn Fein in peace talks - a move which has so far been blocked by the British government.
Sinn Fein supports the ceasefire but Britain has said I-R-A weapons must be surrendered for Sinn Fein to be allowed in round table talks.
SOUNDBITE:
Those who do show the courage to break with the past are entitled to their stake in the future.
SUPER CAPTION: Bill Clinton, U-S President
Concluding by asking the people to take part in the Christmas spirit of goodwill he then moved into the crowd, shaking hands with the workers.
