A DAY IN TALLINN ESTONIA & THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH | Estonia Travel Vlog Part 2
This vlog was recorded 2018-07-28. In this series we are on a trip to Estonia and we are traveling with the Tallink & Silja Line Baltic Queen cruise ship. In this vlog we’ll start the day with the breakfast buffet which a big improvement over yesterdays dinner buffet. After that we hit the docks to explore the beautiful capital city of Estonia, Tallinn. To really give you the viewers a nice view and feeling of the city we decided to go on a hop and hop off sightseeing tour bus which really gave great view of the city. They also had a history track playing trough headphones, so you could get the history of Estonia. After that we visited the Russian Orthodox Church in Tallinn but unfortunately, we couldn’t film inside but we absolute respect that. It’s important to respect every religious building whether it’s a mosque, church or a synagogue etc. After the church we decided to go to the City Wall of Estonia and we also got a nice view of the Old Town of Estonia. After all this exploring we were dehydrated so we decided to buy some water and then wait for the tour bus to take us back to central part of the city to eat. But then we met these awesome people of Estonia who we really vibed with us. Finally we went to Vapiano to finish of the day and had a great pasta meal with some dessert afterwards.

Tallinn , the capital of Estonia, lies on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland, only 70 km (43 mi) south of Helsinki. At the historical and medieval heart of the city is the hill of Toompea, covered in cobbled streets and filled with medieval houses and alleyways. The lower town spreads out from the foot of the hill, still protected by the remnants of a city wall. Around the city wall is a series of well-maintained green parks, great for strolling.
Medieval Old Town. Excellently preserved, built in the 15-17th centuries. This compact area is best explored on foot.
View to the Tallinn old town
Viru Gate, (Entrance to Viru Street). This section of town is known as All-Linn or Lower Town, as it's where the merchants and artisans of old Tallinn lived. Today, Viru is still Tallinn's trendiest shopping street and the entire All-Linn is the busiest (and most touristy) bit of Tallinn.
Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. a classic onion-domed 19th-century Russian Orthodox church that has become a touristy symbol of the city, to the annoyance of some who regard it as a symbol of oppression. It was almost demolished in 1924 during Estonia's first brief spell of independence, but the Soviets left it to moulder and it has been restored to its former glory.
Touring Tallin Estonia - 8 Minute Intro (and Tram Adventure)
Tallin, the capital and largest city of Estonia, is one of the oldest capital cities of Northern Europe. The Old Town is one of the best preserved and intact medieval cities in Europe and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another significant place is the Kadriorg Park, which contains the Kadriorg Palace, the KUMU and other art museums, the Estonian presidential residence, along with formal gardens, woodlands, and a children's amusement park. We also found that taking the tram in Tallin was an adventure!

Tallinn, Estonia: Two Medieval Towns
More info about travel to Tallinn: Tallinn, like many parts of the Baltic states, has modernized at an astounding rate since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. Today, Tallinn is a fascinating blend of pleasing towers, ramparts, facades, striptiis bars, churches, shops, and people-watching. Yet the Old World ambience within its walled town center has been beautifully preserved.

Estonia - Russian Orthodox Church
This is one of a series of reports I produced nearly a decade ago for WTN Roving Report and kept a copy for posterity . They have been uploaded to this site so that the people who took part who never got a chance to see them can now view them.
As a freelance cameraman/director I researched and produced this report for WTN's Roving Report.
Filmed five years after Estonia's' independence from Russia it examines the problems faced by the Russian Orthodoc Church and ethnic Russians in Estonia.

Church of Penuja, Estonia
The small church of Penuja, Penuja is one small Estonian village quite near to Estonian-Latvian border. Photos are made in years 2008-2010 from professional and amateur Photographers.
In the neighborhood of the Church is a former elementary school of Penuja, nowadays a village house. The Church is the Russian Orthodox Church, built in year 1873. The area is not orthodox, not even particularly religious, because Estonians are not very religious today. The school was built in Penuja up again in 1992, but the church, which the school was founded by, is forgotten in ruins.
Also, the Orthodox Church has abandoned the church. But photographers are inspired by the church. One of them signed a photo poetically: Journey to the forgotten God.
These photos of Church of Penuja what do you see in this video, are now in Penuja village house.
Should we intervene or not - that is the question.
