Mt. Carmel Cathedral, Saipan
#09 of the 30 Treasures of The Marianas
With its beautiful Spanish-style exterior, Mount Carmel Cathedral is the largest Catholic church in The Marianas and it attracts many visitors. Reconstructed in 1949 after World War II, it was designated as a cathedral by papal decree in 1984. This cathedral provides Catholics living in The Marianas with a place of worship and serves as a landmark for the town of Chalan Kanoa. During the period of Japanese rule, a sugar cane processing plant and a shrine built to celebrate the harvest were in this area. Lanterns and a gate from the old shrine can still be seen.

Sugar King Park Movie
Sugar King Park on the island of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. The sculpture is Matsue the sugar king who pulled tegether the sugarcane industry in the early 1900's, his was honored with the erection of a bronze statue in 1930. Although pierced by bullets during WWll the park reminds us of a more peaceful time.

Answered Prayers in Saipan
A pastor in Saipan prayed for help after Typhoon Yutu ripped through the small Pacific island. God used Samaritan's Purse to answer as we distributed critically needed items, such as tarps and solar lights, to families who lost nearly everything.
