Mt Everest Base Camp Trek 2017
After spending a couple of days in KATHMANDU, Dad and I took a 45min flight and flew to LUKLA to start our epic trek to Everest Base Camp. One of the most dangerous flights in the world!
I'm a total trekking rookie but Mt Everest had always interested me and this was a way I could get really close and personal.
Not only was I a rookie trekker but I had never been at altitude by foot and like everything in my life, I wanted to do it naturally.
My guide told me 99% of people take a prescribed drug called Diamox.
This was going to be interesting.
My Dad is 70 in a couple of months. I felt like it was now or never.
Massive shout out and BIG thanks to -
Himalayan Scenery Trek & Expedition straight out of Kathmandu, Nepal.
BIG Thanks to our awesome guides Shiba & Dussi.
And Thanks a million to the whole UK and Aussie crew who trekked their way to Base Camp with us.
Gary, Caroline, Sam, Mel, Dave, Clare, Alice and of course my Dad.
This is a great video to watch if you are thinking of trekking to EBC during April/May as you can see what gear we are all wearing as we move through each day. We had a low of -13 degrees celsius.
Thanks and Enjoy!

Nepal - Annapurna ( Trek in the Himalayas - part 1 )
Backpacking with my son in Nepal at the Annapurna Sanctuary in the Himalayas. Starting off jet lag and sick. Which slowed us down as we are trying to reach the Base Camp .It is the raining season and also prime time for leeches. Which we where picking off on the trail as we where hiking. Instead of rain we experienced sunny but hot and humidity. All worth it to be immersed
The MOST DANGEROUS ROAD IN THE WORLD (NEPAL)
I’ve always been fascinated with Nepal.
Home to the highest mountains, bustling with a vibrant culture, this small country is an ideal destination for an adventurous mountain trek and an experience of cultural values. My journey starts on a bus in Kathmandu, where I will be heading into the Himalayas to begin the Langtang trek. The road though, is questionable!

Nepali Street Food - DEEP FRIED Snacks in Kathmandu, Nepal!
Nepali street food snacks in Kathmandu, Nepal!
►Subscribe to my channel for more videos:
After traveling through India, we took a flight from Delhi to Kathmandu. I was excited to explore a bit of Nepal, and we first began our explorations in the largest city of Kathmandu. Kathmandu is a beautiful city and there are quite a few things to do. But as a foodie traveler, I was of course most interested in sampling Nepali food and also Nepali street food, which I knew very little about before visiting Nepal.
In Kathmandu, there's not a lot of street food when you compare the city to a place like Bangkok. There are some stalls, but many of the street food is housed in small tiny little restaurants where you pull back a curtain and sit on small tables and benches to enjoy home cooked noodles and momo dumplings. Around the Boudha stupa (also known as Boudhanath stupa) in Kathmandu, there are some good Nepali street food carts, many of them serving a mixture of both Tibetan and Nepali street food snacks.
When I saw this cart that was cooking something extremely delicious smelling along with a pair of very friendly vendors, I knew I'd have to give it a sample. The vendors were very happy to be featured and I quickly ordered two items from their menu. All their street food were stacked within the glass encased cart and as soon as someone would order something, they would quickly dunk it into the hot oil until hot through and through. The vendors would then put them on top of a piece of newspaper, and slice them into pieces. Depending on your personal preference, the vendor would then scoop on a spoon of hot sauce to add extra flavor and complete the Nepali street food snack.
I started by street food sampling with a buffalo shapale, which is a Tibetan Nepali meat pie. It was filled with minced buffalo and possibly some onions. The flavor was great from the meat and it was improved by the hot and salty chili sauce. Next up was something known as an aloo chop, which is basically a deep fried potato cutlet. It was incredibly good, a ball of spicy mashed potatoes that were crispy on the outside and flavored so wonderfully. For my final Nepali street food snack this round, I couldn't resist a small piece of Nepal style fried chicken. The meat on the little drumstick was pushed all the way to the end so it provided a chicken handle with which is hold while enjoying the chicken. The chicken was pretty delicious, a proper street food snack. Thanks for watching this Nepali street food video and hope you can enjoy these snacks when you visit Kathmandu!

3 Weeks in Nepal (Chengdu, Poon Hill solo hike, The LEADER Project in Kathmandu)
Finally a new video after a year!!
If I could describe my trip concisely, I would say it was filled with a lot of “Firsts” and was pretty outside of my comfort zone. Although it wasn’t all smooth sailing at the time, the trip was ultimately very transformative.
I chose the song “Let Me” because I think it’s a really sweet song, both lyrically and melodically. It captures the vibe of my entire trip well because I will always remember the trip fondly, as something sweet & warm & happy.
All the people I met during my trip (the Nepalese but also the Canadians and some Chinese and Americans) caused me to re-evaluate myself and my worldviews. I guess I started a tradition last year of taking a transformative trip at the end of each university year during which I somehow go through great personal growth, and therefore close a chapter of my life and start a new one. This trip carried on the tradition. Anyway, enough mushy stuff – that’s the context behind all the pretty Nepali mountains & temples :)
Here's another montage dedicated exclusively to The LEADER Project experience in Kathmandu, Nepal:

Episode № 1 ⇝ The Old Route to Everest ◮
Subscribe and join me, Vivi, in my trip around the world! This series follows my journey trekking solo from Jiri to EBC in April 2018.
In this episode we begin the arduous trek from Jiri to Everest Base Camp, driving in from Kathmandu to Jiri on Day 1 (approx 200km), then walking from Jiri to Deurali on Day 2 (18.2km).
It was a rough bus ride in, as my travel agent tried to warn me; 'it's a local bus, on bad roads, are you sure you don't want to fly to Lukla?', I ofcourse didn't know what local bus and bad roads really meant, so I found that out the hard way!
The second day, I imagined to be gentle slopes, gradually getting higher. Unfortunately, after lunch Bimal points to the top of a hill and tells me that's Deurali, where we are going, I thought he was joking, he was not.
Hope you enjoyed this episode, I'm happy to answer any questions in the comments so feel free to ask!
