Chartered a boat for fishing
Deep Sea Fishing, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
During my family's reunion in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. A few of us decided to charter a fishing boat to take us out on Banderas Bay to do some fishing. After about 3 hours, we finally got a bite. We all helped reel in a huge Crevalle Jack fish. Not what we were hoping for, but at least it was something. It took about 20 minutes to finally reel it in all the way and get it on the boat. We finished the day with only one fish but it was more than enough for a huge meal for the whole family.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Spin Cast Fishing - Popping (Day 6) Episode 11
Part XI - Puerto Vallarta, MX Spin Cast Fishing
Our last day in PV, edited into 38 minutes of moments I will never forget, and into what I believe is my better understanding of Final Cut ProX. My 25th published YouTube video, in what I hope, can someday find its way into the lives of fishermen that appreciate the B side of all adventures, who find entertainment value in relating to the world we all know as reality, who understand that giving thanks comes from the heart and by reciprocating action, that promotion is earned and unrelated to any reward, that catching fish is tertiary to friends and the adventure.
Last days are usually a mess of emotions for me, excited to get home, sad to leave paradise, eager to catch that last fish, tired and sore from days of battling and somewhat nervous about the travel ahead. Something happened on this last day that added one final emotion to the storyline, it started with a discussion about who would fish together and ended with a bit of information that I was shocked to learn. Many of you know I cherish the days where I get to share an adventure with a father and son, since I was able to do that on day 3 and 4 the next best thing is to see father and sons fish together in a setting like we had day 6. Before that happened I learned that the LaFleur boys hadn’t fished together with their father in many years, many, I don’t quite remember the number but it blew me away, it wasn’t 3 or 4 but more like 15, I immediately began lobbying for this to happen, as I knew there would be an incredible set of circumstances, rules, penalties, wagers and ultimately a story that needed to be seen and told. Competition is a good thing, it runs strong in that family, and their success is evidence of years of besting each other at whatever became the hook. I won’t get into the rules, as there was many, the penalties numerous and somewhat ever-changing, but I will give my version of the wager. Seemed that the wager was for the losers passport to be destroyed, rendering owner unable to return to the US, well, without big hassles anyway. There was no fooling anyone during the previous nights cocktail hour that this would actually happen, forgo that situation as there was something way more important on the line, pride, winning, best ones own blood and do such in front of the man himself. The video references the final score if you watch closely, no passports were destroyed and the proudest winner is debatable as everyone involved enjoyed it then, and can relive it now through this story and video.
As for my last day goal, I was out to photograph and video as much as I could and cast like mad, essentially putting the last log on the fire with gasoline chaser. What happened was that I captured so much video, spanning from 4am to 1am, that breaking it down was a challenge, I knew it would be a tough edit, throw in Blake’s footage and really compound things. The reason I wanted to do this was to show a non monetary thanks to all of my friends, including Danny Gomez, Arturo Lopez, Carlos Ernesto Sanchez and Lalo (wherever he is). I can only hope that these images and videos resonate within the people I was with and any of you who understand the true reason that we do any of this. A somewhat somber feeling while sitting here at my computer, typing, waiting for this last video to upload, because it marks the end of what I set out to do on this trip, with these last few words I am typing I want to stress to you all how much it means to me when I hear you enjoy what I spend time doing here, a quality in each of you that I appreciate fully. The real of this all is to connect with the the growing number of fishermen that prefer storylines over infomercials and who understand that none of this is bragging or chest beating, I truly want you to feel as if you were a part of it, as I want you to be there every time and share with me the same way through words, pictures and video.

Mahi Mahi / Dorado fishing with PV Sportfishing in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta Mexico fishing Dorado You can catch Dorado all year in around in Puerto Vallarta but are most plentiful in the hotter months of the year. You can fish for Dorado with live bait, lures, or jigs trolling and casting. In Summer months you can normally find smaller Dorado inside Bandera's bay but as the weather cools down you need to get outside the bay either to El Morro, la Corbetena or el banco wherever the hotter bite is. If you want to catch bigger Dorado over 20 lbs you typically always need to go offshore to La Corbetena or el Banco. Puerto Vallarta Dorado average
size offshore is 20-50 lbs inshore 5-15 lbs. Check out our Puerto Vallarta fishing reports to see where the Dorado will be biting on your fishing trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico
