Dorado fishing in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta fishing Dorado You can catch Dorado all year in around in Puerto Vallarta but are most plentiful in the hotter
months of the year. You can fish for Dorado with live bait, lures, or jigs trolling and casting. In Summer months you can normally find smaller Dorado inside Bandera's bay but as the weather cools down you need to get outside the bay either to El Morro, la Corbetena or el banco wherever the hotter bite is. If you want to catch bigger Dorado over 20 lbs you typically always need to go offshore to La Corbetena or el Banco. Puerto Vallarta Dorado average size offshore is 20-50 lbs inshore 5-15 lbs. Check out our Puerto Vallarta fishing reports

Mahi Fishing In Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
***Full report available at
This November my wife Lauren and I are staying in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where I will be working and fishing for mahi mahi and whatever else I can find. In this video we are fishing on a local panga boat, in the Los Arcos area of Banderas Bay, Puerto Vallarta, for mahi mahi (also called dorado or dolphinfish).
One major benefit of the internet is that it allows me to carryon my day-to-day business activities from anywhere in the world without issue. In fact I sometimes find it easier to work abroad than at home, and my productivity will oftentimes increase. For the next couple of weeks I will be blogging from Mexico, where it is currently 80 degrees, sunny and flat calm.
Video timestamps:
0:01 - departing from the Los Muertos pier
1:21 - rigging a skirted Goggle eye for trolling
3:51 - chatting with captain Juan Santana from
4:40 - first fish, skipjack tuna
7:38 - second fish, small skipjack tuna
8:17 - rigging small skipjack for marlin trolling
10:51 - hooked up with mahi mahi (dorado)
13:52 - mahi in the boat, kicks captain Juan in the ear!
17:19 - filleting the mahi

Puerto Vallarta fishing report December 2018
The Crew on the 35 Cabo caught a huge Black Marlin on the 5th which is great for this late in the year but I think that will be the last big Blue or Black Marlin for the 2018 fishing season. We are still catching Sailfish, Dorado, Tuna and we found some Wahoo outside of Corbetena as well last week. Inside Banderas Bay we have catching Small Dorado Jack Crevalle, and Skip Jacks. We have been fishing with mostly live bait trolling and drifting. It has been another great year living and fishing in Puerto Vallarta. PV Sportfishing would like to thank everyone that came
to Puerto Vallarta on vacation and especially want to thank everyone that came fishing with us.
