Vancouver Train Station-Pacific Central-Inside & Outside View-VIA
Watch the main Vancouver train station called Pacific Central Station both outside and inside. The outside view includes not only a good look at the train station building itself but also the view you'll see as you step out from the station when you arrive to Vancouver by train. What you'll see is a park, new tall residential buildings, trolleybus and car traffic on the Main Street and car traffic on Terminal Avenue. And behind the trees of the park you can observe the Main Street-Science World SkyTrain Station and watch the Skytrains going east and west. The particular SkyTrain that goes east in this video is the old original version. The new version of the SkyTrain is also shown in this video very fleetingly before I point out where the SkyTrain station is. Now let's get back to the Pacific Central Station building.
Erected between 1917-1919 this station was originally built by architects Pratt and Ross for the Canadian Northern Railway as its western terminus on reclaimed land that used to be part of False Creek. It's a good example of Neoclassical Revival Style.
The trains that frequent this station are operated by Via Rail and by Amtrak. It's ironic that from the building which is owned by VIA Rail, there are currently two Amtrak trains per day arriving and leaving from this Vancouver terminus station while there are only two VIA trains per week arriving from and going to Toronto in Central Canada.
Both Amtrak and Via trains are still reasonably priced but by no means cheap. That can hardly be said of another train operator which will likely move into this station soon, the very expensive Rocky Mountaineer.
In 2013, the Rocky Mountaineer, a private train company which operates trains from a nearby Rocky Mountaineer Train Station to and through the Rocky Mountains and beyond, plans to start a new Coastal Passage route from Pacific Central Station.
Enjoy.

NOTE
Unfortunately, the coach we were sat in had what's called a 'flat wheel' where part of the wheel is not quite as round as it should be. This is responsible for the 'thudding' that can be heard on the audio track. Apologies for this. If it's disturbing your enjoyment of the video, turning down the bass and/or volume may help. Thank you

How to get from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria, taking BC Ferries and booking through the BC Ferries Connector.
BC Ferries Connector:
It is possible to plan your own way to the ferry terminal, but for people who don't know the route very well (like me) I believe this is a convenient and affordable solution.
Note - in the video I mention that there are different stops available to get off the bus in Victoria. It's also possible to chose a different location to get on the bus in Vancouver. There are a few different pick up locations across downtown. For me, heading to Pacific Central Bus Station was the easiest option though.
Disclaimer - after learning about BC Ferries Connector, I reached out to the Wilson Group and they offered complimentary travel between Vancouver and Victoria for making this video.
