Panorama Machu Picchu Peru
Machu Picchu (Quechua: Machu Pikchu, Old Peak ; pronounced ('mɑ.tʃu 'pik.tʃu]) is a pre-Columbian Inca site located 2,430 metres (8,000 ft) above sea level. The Incas started building it around AD 1430 but was abandoned as an official site for the Inca rulers a hundred years later at the time of the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire. Although known locally, it was largely unknown to the outside world before being brought to international attention in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, an American historian. Since then, Machu Picchu has become an important tourist attraction.
Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style, with polished dry-stone walls. Its primary buildings are the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. These are located in what is known by archaeologists as the Sacred District of Machu Picchu.
The city sits in a saddle between two mountains, with a commanding view down two valleys and a nearly impassable mountain at its back. It has a water supply from springs that cannot be blocked easily, and enough land to grow food for about four times as many people as ever lived there.

Peru, South America Adventure(南美洲之旅): Machu Picchu & Huayna Picchu Hike (马丘比丘 & 韦纳比丘攀登)
Sharing my travel vlog on the mysterious Machu Picchu and Huayna (Wayna) Picchu hike. Machu Picchu is an Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains (at 2430m) in Peru, above the Urubamba River valley. Built in the 15th century and later abandoned, it’s renowned for its sophisticated dry-stone walls that fuse huge blocks without the use of mortar, intriguing buildings that play on astronomical alignments and panoramic views. Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was constructed as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). Often mistakenly referred to as the Lost City of the Incas, it is the most familiar icon of Inca civilization. It remained unknown to the outside world until American historian Hiram Bingham brought it to international attention in 1911. Machu Picchu was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and was voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in a worldwide Internet poll in 2007.
The Inca civilization placed a strong emphasis on the concept of dualities as these reflected the harmony of the universe and they can be seen in the mysterious faces and symbols of Machu Picchu. Look out for the intriguing faces and symbols in my vlog (hints: from 4:02-6:30 mins).
The Huayna Picchu can be challenging but worth the effort for the panoramic view of Machu Picchu. The number of daily visitors allowed on Huayna Picchu is restricted to 400. From the summit, a second trail leads down to the Gran Caverna and what is known as the Temple of the Moon. These natural caves, on the northern face of the mountain, are lower than the starting point of the trail. The return path from the caves completes a loop around the mountain where it rejoins the main trail.

On March 26th we had some relatively big plans - we were going to spend the entire day in Valle Sagrado, the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We were loaded onto a bus with a bunch of other tourists and set off from downtown Cusco. The videos coming up are a lot more interesting. :-)

Peru - Episode 4: Panoramic trains and thermal baths (English subtitles)
The adventure continues towards the small village of Aguas Calientes at the foot of Machu Picchu where we'll learn more about Inca culture. It's a long journey from Cusco and waking up in the middle of the night to get there is not the easiest thing to do, but it's all worth it when the scenery from the panoramic train departing from Ollantaytambo is breathtaking.
