En la calle 127 con carrera 11 se encuentra en Bogotá el parque El Country. Después de una resolución emitida por el alcalde Peñaloza, este espacio, que anteriormente pertenecía al club El Country, es ahora un lugar destinado para que las personas del sector practiquen sus deportes y tengan un espacio de esparcimiento en el extenso terreno que antiguamente era una cancha de polo.

As we started our Colombia trip at the coast and went to Medellin afterwards we had to spend some days in the capital Bogota. Apart from taking a bit of a break we decided to put together a short list of things to do in Bogota paired with recommendations for cool areas to stay and our favorite restaurants.
From the city center to recommendable food places this video is meant to also help you find your way around and plan your stay in Bogota. All my tips can also be found on my website, this includes sights as well as restaurants and hotels in Bogota.

— About Exploring Colombia —
Colombia, a country which many only know because of it’s violent past, has been on my list since I went to South America for my first long-term trip in 2012. 6 Years later and with 5 weeks to spend it was finally time to properly explore my country number 9 on the continent.
For the first part of the trip I’ll be traveling with my mate David to the historical city of Cartagena, some picturesque Carribean islands and to the city of Medellin where we get to learn about the violent past and the transformation of the country. After a few days in the capital Bogota I’ll be joined by my good friend Stefan to learn salsa and take on some outdoor adventures in Cali before heading up to Santa Marta where we checkout the most beautiful beaches, float down rivers and hike through the mountains.

Jazz al Parque ( is a jazz festival that takes place every year in Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia. Jazz al Parque 2019 was the 24th version of the festival and was held on September 12 at the Jorge Eliecer Gaitán Theater ( located in Bogota’s downtown, on September 13 in La Milla Bronx Creative District ( and on September 14 and 15 in the Polo Country Club Metropolitan Park ( located in the north of the city.
Jazz al Parque is a free event in Bogotá and highlights the participation of musicians who interpret this musical genre based on its origins and the interaction with contemporary sounds. Also, during the festival there is a space where local musicians can make themselves known. This space is called Big Band Bogotá ( and has been held for 10 years with the collaboration of the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santodomingo ( and Idartes ( the District Institute for the Arts of Bogota.
Jazz al Parque 2019 was attended by international musicians such as Jazz House Collective, Ron Carter, La Familia López Nussa, Nubya Garcia, Theon Cross Trio and Steam Down.

La Big Band Bogotá: nace en el año 2010 en el marco del Festival Jazz al Parque como un proyecto que busca estimular los procesos creativos, interpretativos y de consolidación del sector del jazz en Bogotá, reconociendo la labor y el proceso de aquellos intérpretes, creadores, compositores y directores que han aportado significativamente al proceso y evolución del género en la ciudad. fomenta la circulación de los artistas intérpretes del género musical y la creación de obras originales para este formato, permitiendo que compositores colombianos puedan presentar sus creaciones para ser interpretadas por la Big Band. Esta agrupación cuenta actualmente con más de 28 obras originales, dos publicaciones discográficas y ha realizado más de 24 conciertos desde su creación.
Sus integrantes son Edy Martínez, Orlando Barreda “Batanga”, Andrés Felipe Estrada, Wilmer López, Romario Franco, Gianni Bardaro, Efraín Zagarra, Juan David Mojica, Juan Ignacio Arbaiza, Cristian David Martínez, Vladimir Romero, Sebastián Pecha, Germán Darío Aguirre, Javier Andrés Cuervo Ríos, Alexander Pastrana, Diego Pascagaza, Julián Felipe Ramírez, Nelson Amarillo, Gabriel Caicedo. En esta oportunidad acompañan a la banda como invitados Fabio Ortiz y Luis Erasmo Pacheco.
EDDY MARTÍNEZ: Nació en la ciudad de Pasto, departamento de Nariño el 7 de enero del año 1942, heredó la música de su padre. Desde niño se inclinó por la percusión, y a la edad de doce años ya tocaba batería en la orquesta de su padre, Don Manuel Martínez Polit. Salió con 18 años de edad en 1960, llegando a Nueva York en 1964, donde se vincula a la Charanga Moderna de Ray Barreto como pianista, arreglista y director, con esta agrupación, realizó diez álbumes entre 1964 y 1979. Hizo grabaciones con los más destacados músicos y cantantes como: Andy Harlow, Ángel Canales, Celia Cruz, Edy Palmieri, Fania All Stars, Joe Quijano, Johnny Pacheco, Justo Betancourt, Larry Harlow y Louis Ramírez, entre otros. Además de participar como músico, arreglista, compositor y productor con los grandes de la música latina, el maestro Edy Martínez realizó trabajos con exponentes del jazz y del latin jazz como: Billy Cobham, Bobby Watson, Dizzy Gillespie, Gato Barbieri, Paquito de Rivera y Ron Carter.
