Peace of Mind Kayak Tours
Lauren from Peace of Mind Kayak Tours takes a group through the canals of the Winter Park chain of lakes.
Winter Park Chain of Lakes April 18
A beautiful hot Florida spring day. Perfect to enjoy the water and a fun super soaker kind of day. We put in at Fort Maitland Park, crossed Lake Maitland, through the Venetian Canal, across Lake Osceola, through the Fern Canal and finally to Dinky Dock on Lake Virginia. After a lunch break there we returned back the way we came through the canals but took a side detour past Kraft Azalea Gardens, under the bridge to the Isle of Sicily and across Lake Maitland again to the waterfall canal. This canal has a private home with a beautiful display of Chihuly blown glass art. The wind had picked up by now and the last leg of the trip across Lake Maitland was battling wind and waves. But we all arrived back safe and sound and having enjoyed the day.

Full Moon Paddle on the Winter Park Chain of Lakes
This was a combined group of kayakers from Discovery Church (Discovery Kayakers) and the Florida Kayak / Canoe meetup (sponsored by AdventuresInFlorida.com). A beautiful balmy evening ... fairly windy to start but it calmed down mid way through the trip. Total distance is roughly 8 or 9 miles. We left at 8pm while it was still daylight. Didn't get to loading our boats until about midnight. Enjoyed a nice snack (and stretch your legs) break at Dinky Dock.

Road Trip to the Everglades
Road Trip to the Everglades
►Read the blog posts:
Since we’re both always working and don’t get to spend as much time together as we’d like, my brother Dennis and I decided it would be fun to take a road trip down to Everglades National Park. I’ve partnered with Esurance because car insurance gives me peace of mind when I hit the road.
In case anything goes wrong, I feel secure knowing I would get the help I need. From quote to claim, Esurance is working to help you make smarter, more efficient choices with your home and auto insurance. Using state-of-the-art technology, they offer a seamless online and mobile experience along with intuitive tools that help take the hassle out of insurance.
The Florida Everglades are known for their pristine mangrove forests, diverse bird life, and of course their gators! You don’t have to actually enter the park to experience the thrill of the mangrove canals and see these incredible reptiles up close.
If you didn’t know, Esurance has an app called Fuelcaster that lets you check gas prices in your area and predicts when prices may fall.
First up, we head to Robert is Here, a large fruit and vegetable market that is famous for its milkshakes. We explored the shop and bought some honey. We also saw the turtles, ducks, goats, and the other animals in the mini farm at the back of the property.
After filling up at Robert is Here, we head to Everglades Alligator Farm to get a real taste of the Florida Everglades. Here we see some snakes, watch the alligator show, feed some alligators and take an exciting airboat ride. Warning: everyone gets wet!
Last but not least, we head to Gator Grill for lunch. It’s a small restaurant that’s famous for its gator dishes. We tried some gator bites, gator Stir-fry, gator tacos and frog legs. The Gator bites were amazing! The frog legs was also very good, but not really favorite.
The craziest road trip I have ever been on is when I was filming in the mountains in the Czech Republic in winter. We were following a guy that was showing us how to get out off the mountain. He was going so fast in snow that I almost flew off a cliff!
What’s the best road trip you’ve ever taken? Leave me a question or comment below!
