Monara Gala Mountain (Peacock Hill) මොණරගල
Peacock Hill; commonly known as Monaragala (මොනරගල) is one of the most beautiful hikes, which can be completed within a single day, without feeling tired. When you see the name, you may feel that this is another mountain in Uva Province, because name itself says Monaragala. This specific mountain is situated in Kotmale, on the side of A5 road, closer to northern margin of the area; Pussellawa town. Peacock hill Mountain is the highest peak in Pussellawa - Sri Lanka (1518 meters above sea level), rising only 200 meters above the Pussellawa city. It is easily accessible by using the roads across the villages.
Peacock Hill is possessing a historical background as well. This village is a turning point when it’s come to Prince Gemunu’s life story, because he had spent 12 years of his life in this village; Kotmale. It is believed that Prince Gemunu (Later King Dutugemunu; is one of the most well-known kings in the history of Sri Lanka, and even today, is much loved by the country’s populace for having united the country of yore.) stayed in hiding in after fleeing to Kothmale following his disagreement with his father. And also, it is said that he stayed in that village as a farmer and a herdsman where he used to go to Peacock Hill with his poultry.
Peacock Hill Mountain is one of the most panoramic vantage points of Pussellawa which gives an extraordinary view of the most mountains and cities around where you could feel the beauty of Gampola town, Pussellawa town, Ambuluwawa, Dolosbage mountain range, Nawalapitiya town, Nuwara-Eliya town, Pidurutalagala range, Kotmale reservoir & Bible rock. Communication towers have occupied the peak of this mountain but viewpoint provides fantastic surrounding view. It’s not necessary to getting permission to reach the top of the mountain through where the transmission towers are placed. A traveler/ hiker would have a wonderful time walking up the hill in the midst of the immaculate Pussellawa atmosphere.

Peacock hill | Pussallawa | Hiking | Mountains | Nuwaraeliya | SriLanka | Vlog#9
Peacock hills (1518m) is a mountain situated on the side of A5 road closer to Pussellawa town. It is an easy hike as you can go closer to the base of the mountain. But the road condition is not that much good. After parking your vehicle at trail head there is a climb of 30minutes through Pines trees which ends at peak of Peacock hills.
Communication towers have occupied the peak of this mountain but view point provides fantastic surrounding view. It includes Kotmale reservior, Pussellawa town, Ramboda falls, Kabaragala mountain etc.
You don't need permission to reach there though transmission towers are placed. It is worth to visit there if you are going to Nuweraeliya from Colombo or Kandy.

Riverstone | Mathale | Hike | Central Province | Sri Lanka
The hike in Riverston hike begins at the Riverston Telecommunications Tower. We parked our car near a small river and began the trek from there towards the mountains
We headed across the river and through the rice fields and farmlands towards the Riverston mountains. There is minimal signage but luckily we had our guide Lukobanda to guide us up. The hike doesn’t have a specific name according to the locals other than the Riverston Peak Hike. The hike looks out over the Knuckles mountain range and the surrounding highlands. It’s one of the short day trip hikes in the area. The end of the hike ends with a sharp 300m drop, which made for some pretty epic photos. From here you can chill and take in the views of the Thelgamuwa Valley, the terraced rice fields, and the Knuckles mountain range. This peak in the mountains is called ‘The Worlds End‘.
The hike is 5km long but not incredibly difficult although the constant incline means you need to be prepared to sweat in the tropic conditions.(Ref -

Garandi gini Ella (ramboda)
Garandi Gini Ella AKA Ramboda Garandi ella became a famous waterfall during the last few years between the travelers because of the picture perfectness of this waterfall. It went Viral on Social media, especially on instagram.
Garandigini ella is an amalgamation of several falls totaling a height of 270m Such is it’s Scale the fall can be seen from a considerable distance. The stream Springs from the Galaha forest reserve, passing gal bittiya and onto puna oya.
How to reach the picture perfect location
Although it’s visible to considerable distance, Everyone’s dream will be to reach the picture perfect location on the top. There are three different routes to reach the top of the waterfall
01. Reach Via Thawalamthenna
Thawalamthenna Is located 48Km away from the kandy and 30 Km away From the Nuwara eliya on Kandy Nuwara eliya main route.
Public Transport– Get into a kandy- Nuwara eliya Bus either from Kandy or from Nuwara Eliya and get off from Thawalamthenna (Thawalamthenna Kovil Is the Land Mark)
Either you are using Public transport or your own vehicle your stopping place should be Thawalamthenna Kovil. Then you have to Ascend from there through the tea estates. Make sure to ask and verify the route from the villagers. They are very friendly but most of them are Tamils so they might not be able to understand Sinhala or English. So make sure to ask the route constantly until you reach the top. It’s not a difficult trek, since you have to go through a tea estate make sure not to miss the correct path.
02. Reach Via Bluefield Tea Factor Road
If you are Travelling from Nuwara eliya via Kandy Nuwara eliya Main route, You will reach the famous bluefied Tea factory on your way to Ramboda Town. ( Check the Google Map) Then you will see the bluefied tea factory road with the entry gate of tea factory without much effort to find it. That is the 2nd route to reach Garandi ella. Your target destination should be Eyrie Tamil School. Make sure to ask and check the route with locals as well.
When You reach the Eyrie tamil School, there is more than enough space to park your vehicle there. Then Start walk down the road through the school premises. After 300 meters down the road, path will curve left. Until then you won’t hear at least the noise of the waterfall. Then Suddenly you will be stuck with the breathtaking view of the waterfall. Walk Further. Then you will be able to reach the instagram famous spot of the Garandi gini Ella.
03. Reach Via Pussellawa
You will not be able to find this route on the Google maps. You can travel on this route by a vehicle with ground Clearance. If you are travelling from Kandy right after pass the pussellawa town, you will reach the delta Gemunu School. After passing the delta Gemunu School you will reach the Delta gamunu Temple. Then you will be able to see a road on your left side (If you are coming from Pusssellawa). For the confirmation check with someone whether it’s Protoft (perratasi) road or not.
Go alone another 5-6 Km Until you reach the Eyrie Tamil School (Check with villagers to get confirm the route)
Then Again your target location should be Eyrie Tamil School and follow the path as mentioned in the 2nd option to reach the Amazing Garandi Gini Ella

Travel Diaries | Sigiriya (POV) | Minneriya | Amaya Lake Dambulla
Visiting the 8th wonder of the world Sigiriya and elephant watching in Minneriya.
Sigiriya is considered to be one of the most important urban planning sites of the first millennium, and the site plan is considered very elaborate and imaginative. The plan combined concepts of symmetry and asymmetry to intentionally interlock the man-made geometrical and natural forms of the surroundings. On the west side of the rock lies a park for the royals, laid out on a symmetrical plan; the park contains water-retaining structures, including sophisticated surface/subsurface hydraulic systems, some of which are working today. The south contains a man-made reservoir; these were extensively used from the previous capital of the dry zone of Sri Lanka. Five gates were placed at entrances. The more elaborate western gate is thought to have been reserved for the royals.
Minneriya National Park (Sinhala: මින්නේරිය ජාතික වනෝද්යානය) is a national park in North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The area was designated as a national park on 12 August 1997, having been originally declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938.[1] The reason for declaring the area as protected is to protect the catchment of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area. The tank is of historical importance, having been built by King Mahasen in third century AD. The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts. The park earned revenue of Rs. 10.7 millions in the six months ending in August 2009.[2] Along with Kaudulla and Girithale, Minneriya forms one of the 70 Important Bird Areas (IBAs) of Sri Lanka.[3] The park is situated 182 kilometres (113 mi) from Colombo.

Kadadora Viharaya, Kotmale Dam - Motorcycle Road Trip
පුරාණ කඩදොර විහාරය (Also known as Kadadora Sri Priyabimbaramaya Vihara) was a Buddhist temple, situated in Kadadora, Nuwara Eliya District, Sri Lanka. The temple was abandoned and ruined as the construction of Kotmale Dam in 1979 by Mahaweli Development programme. The ruins of Vihara still can be seen when the water level of Kotmale Reservoir is low, but the sight is very rare.
