EXPERIENCE | Western Australia Wild Flowers, 4x4 and Sand Boarding
The wildflower collection in Western Australia is the largest on Earth. With more than 12,000 species, over 60% of which are found nowhere else on Earth, they colour the landscapes from coast to forest and city to outback.
The six-month flowering season begins in the north in June and July on the vast outback plains of the Pilbara, Goldfields and Coral Coast where vibrant blooms contrast with pindan earth, rugged canyons and turquoise sea.
By September, it has moved south and reached Perth’s botanical gardens, nature reserves and national parks, finishing with a flurry in October and November throughout the forests and coastal heaths of the South West. You can take in the spectacles of each region and season on the many the wildflower scenic drives and walking trails.

TV Interview: Top Places to Stay and Eat in Perth, Western Australia - The Big Bus
Welcome to The Big Bus tour and travel guide's YouTube channel.
Adam Ford, editor of The Big Bus tour and travel guide, regularly joins the team at Sky News Business Class to discuss top travel destinations around the world. In this interview Adam covers accommodation and dining options in Western Australia's capital Perth. This might well be the most isolated capital city on the planet, but you certainly wouldn’t know it as you wander the bustling malls and street art-emblazoned laneways of the inner city. Cool cafes, slick eateries and trendy new hotels abound.
The city is actually in the process of getting a complete makeover. In 2029 Perth will celebrate its bicentenary. That’s still a long way off but the vision between now and then is to reinvent the inner city. Here we take a look at some of the latest developments.
This interview was first broadcast on 6 September, 2017.

Perth’s biggest display of tulips
A recent visit to Perth saw us look for some places to explore and Araluen was high on our list of must-do's while in town.Tulips have been growing at Araluen since the 1930's - the bulbs were originally imported from Holland. When WWII broke out, the bulbs were imported from New Zealand. Today, they are sent to Perth from Tesselaar Bulbs in Victoria. Araluen Botanic Park is home to Perth's biggest display of Tulips. In 2018 there are more than 145,000 Tulips blooming throughout the gardens. The colours of the Tulips are captivating and simply take your breath away. It's difficult to look past them and notice that there are many other glorious spring flowers in bloom in the gaThere's lots of open space for a picnic and a play and there are free electric BBQ's available too. We had a coffee from one of the pop-up food vans and enjoyed listening to music coming from the main lawn area. There were people all over the grassed areas - just chilling and enjoying this most impressive garden. Toilets are clean and there are maps available to help you find your way around. rdens as well.
