The Abandoned Road on the A93: Craghall Gorge (Near Blairgowrie)
Just north of Blairgowrie at Craighall Gorge lies a section of abandoned road which once formed part of the A93. The road wasn't fit for purpose, with queues of traffic waiting to cross the old Bailey Bridge, controlled by traffic lights as it was only wide enough for single file traffic.
The new section of road opened in 2008, leaving this road abandoned with nature slowly clawing back the land. This is worth a visit with lots of interest and wildlife. Red squirrels can be spotted, buzzards above and lots of other birds.
In the video I take you a quick tour of the abandoned road.

The PARABAN Project
A three year study into the control of a Johne's, a major wasting disease of cattle, shows it is possible to significantly reduce on-farm infection, but often requires a long term, strategic approach to disease control and the commitment of the farmer and his vet.
PARABAN was funded by the Scottish Funding Council, in partnership with Scottish Government and industry. Working with SRUC were specialists from the Universities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and the James Hutton Institute. Industry contributions, some of it in kind, were co ordinated by Quality Meat Scotland (QMS). The partners worked with volunteer beef or dairy farmers and their vets, from across Scotland and into Cumbria.

Metal Detecting Scotland just one of they days lol S01E06
hi sorry about this video just a bad day overall lol .. on to the next dig lol thanks sorry again.... keep digging
Hi there I would like to welcome you to my new YouTube channel called Scotland's Lost Treasures.
My name is Ricky and this is a little introduction to my new channel and will be about you guys coming along with me on some of adventures! Things like metal detecting, adventure walks, journeys on my bike, wild fishing, spotting wildlife, natural or man made land formations and much more as time goes on!
I will try my best to teach you guys some history of the areas I go adventuring in. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but together we will learn.
My channel will focus primarily on metal detecting on land and water as I'm on a mission to uncover Scotland's lost treasures.
Together we will find treasures that would be lost forever to history and time, most metals and artifacts rust or perish in the ground or in water so we can add to the history of Scotland by finding them and preserving them for future generations.
Organisations like Treasure Trove Scotland do great things in this endeavour and allow history to be seen and touched rather than just read about in a book or viewed online .
We will report all important finds to them for further investigation into what we have discovered.
I'm new to talking to cameras, making videos and editing so please give me time to learn and improve!
I hope you enjoy my channel Scotland's Lost Treasures and thank you for giving your time to watch my video. cheers

Big Tree Country
A stunning video featuring footage shot from a helicopter as it flies over beautiful scenery in the heart of Scotland. The area, known as Perthshire Big Tree Country - is divided into six distinct clusters: Aberfeldy & Kenmore; Blair Atholl; Crieff & Strathearn; Dunkeld & Birnam; Perth & Blairgowrie; Pitlochry & the Road to the Isles.
Perthshire Big Tree Country is famous for its heritage trees, several of which are featured in the video. Watch out for the Fortingall Yew, oldest living organism in Europe; the Birnam Oak, made famous in Shakespeares MacBeth; the record-breaking Meikleour Beech Hedge, tallest in the world; and Niel Gows Oak, named after the well-known fiddler.
Narrated by one of Scotlands most famous plant collectors, David Douglas, the video begins in the grounds of Scone Palace where Douglas served his apprenticeship as a gardener. Born in Scone, Douglas is responsible for introducing many plant and tree species including the Douglas fir, Sitka spruce Scotlands most prolific forestry tree and sunflowers.
As it swoops over Kinnoull Hill Woodland Park (Scotlands first) and its iconic tower, the video provides a birds eye view of other historical buildings such as Scone Palace, the former crowning place of Scottish kings; Blair Castle; and the Hermitage. It also passes over the most famous view in Scotland, Queens View. Allegedly a favourite of Queen Victoria, the view is actually named after the wife of Robert the Bruce.
In addition to the famous names already mentioned, Perthshire Big Tree Country played host to Robert Rabbie Burns on his tour of the Highlands. The Birks of Aberfeldy takes its name from a song penned by Scotlands national bard. Rabbie is also believed to be responsible encouraging the then Duke of Atholl for the planting of the area around the Falls of Bruar following a petition to the duke in one of his poems.
But it isnt all about the trees. The River Tay runs through Big Tree Country, providing fantastic salmon fishing opportunities and a playground for the more adventurous white water rafters or canoeists. Equally the forests offer great mountain and trail biking runs and tracks suitable for all levels of walking criss cross many of the woodland sites and hills.
Finally, a host of wildlife calls Perthshire Big Tree Country home. Peregrine falcons, buzzards, kestrels and ospreys soar through the sky. During the autumn the roar of red deer stags can be heard during rutting season and roe deer are often spotted dashing through the woods. Red squirrels are shyer residents but are easy to see in Cluny House Gardens and occasionally rarer species such as black grouse and capercaillie are spotted.

An inconvenient truth - Beavers in Perthshire
Some less enlightened members of the population in Perthshire say that beavers will strip our riverbanks of valuable tree cover. What they don't want you to know is that fishing groups routinely cut riverbank willows throughout the area to make casting a line easier. Here is the proof. This video was shot on the river Earn and clearly shows mature willows that have been cut by saws. The video also show young willows on the rivers edge that have not only been cut by saw but also set on fire in an effort to halt the valuable regrown of fresh shoots. Beavers don't carry saws or boxes of matches, humans do.

Walter Turnbull Gravestone Torryburn Fife Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video of the Walter Turnbull gravestone on ancestry visit to Torryburn, Fife. Erected by the Widow and Sacred to the Memory of Walter Turnbull who dies 21st of January, 1812, aged 53 years. His silent virtues were conspicuous in the upright actions of an honest man. The Turnbull surname is mainly found recorded in Northern England and Scotland, is of Anglo Saxon origin, and is a nickname surname for a man thought to have been strong enough to turn back a charging bull. Scottish tradition tells of a man called Rule, who saved the life of King Robert the Bruce, by turning a ferocious bull which had threatened to gore the King. William Turnbull, died 1454, was bishop of Glasgow in 1447, and who founded Glasgow University in 1451.
The surname Turnbull was first found in Roxburghshire. The family dates back to 1214 when King William the Lion of Scotland granted lands to Alan de Rule. If the bull episode is true, then the bearer was either Adam de Rule or Thomas de Rule, the two Rule chieftains who appeared on the Ragman Rolls in 1296, just after the Stirling Park affair. Later, King Robert the Bruce did in fact grant lands in the west of Fulhophalche to William Turnbull in 1315. King David II also granted the lands of Humdallwalschop, now Hundleshop, to John Turnbull.
