Action Packed Peru Hop [Paracas | Huacachina | Nazca]
In this video, we travel across several tourist hot spots including Paracas, Huacachina, Ica, and Nazca.
**********************************
Because we had a lot of places we planned to cover in a short period of time, we decided to utilize Peru Hop. We found the service very convenient to use, and appreciated the increased levels of security as well as the ability to meet other travelers. The cost is higher than public bus and comfort is about the same. They did however include English speaking guides on each bus as well as pick up drop off service to your hotel / hostel.
As a couple, we did find the seating process a bit frustrating. Essentially the seats are first come, first serve. We quickly learned that the best strategy is to have one person board right away with the carry on luggage while the other gets in line to place the large bags under the bus. This was probably our only complaint, otherwise this company is really well organized and we applaud them for paving the way for a developing market with high customer demand!

New: NYC GUIDE | CHINATOWN: Your PERFECT One-Day Itinerary

We journey through Peru to see some of it's lesser known locations; Huacachina and Paracas. During this trip, we sand boarded, rode dune buggies, visited sea lions, and explored Paracas National Reserve.
Thank you PeruHop for making this trip possible! They do fun, cheap and easy multi-day tours around the country.

Travel Vlog: Paracas & Huacachina wirh Peru Hop
Follow Daniel and me around as we explore Paracas and Huacachina with Peru Hop. We booked with Peru Hop in advance that provided transportation from hotel in Lima to our overnight stay in Huacahina. I am about 8 weeks pregnant in the video and can advise that the sandboarding is actually a very smooth and easy ride. Hardest part will be climbing the sanddunes back up to get to your ride. Take water and have fun!
We opted out in the share hostel room Peru Hop offered and got our own hotel in the oasis with Banana Adventure Hostel. They offer one free activity or tour with their stay. We chose the nightly BBQ which was delicious.

Huacachina Peru
It's not a mirage, this oasis is 100% REAL and is located in the middle of the vast desert of Ica. Welcome to HUACACHINA!
Visit Paracas
Home to the Ballestas Islands and a HUGE National Reserve desert, the beautiful town of Paracas is not something to be missed. Commonly referred to as a poor mans galapagos, the Ballestas Islands are home to a wide array of animals, from penguins and sea wolves to huge humpback whales. Don't be the average traveler by missing out on this stunning scenery and vibrant wildlife.

10-Day DIY Peru Itinerary: Cusco, Lares Trek, Machu Picchu, Paracas, Ica, and Huacachina
We lived in Peru for several months in 2018. We hiked many of the treks to Machu Picchu unsupported and visited Machu Picchu several times.
We crafted this 10-day itinerary to showcase our favorite parts of Peru when we had family visit. It's our best-of-the-best for the Cusco and Lima areas.
Day 1: Arrive in Cusco
Day 2: Tour Cusco to acclimate
Day 3: Lares Trek
Day 4: Lares Trek to Ollantaytambo
Day 5: Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes
Day 6: Hike Machu Picchu and return to Cusco
Day 7: Lima to Paracas
Day 8: Paracas' Islas Ballestas to Tacama Vineyard to Huacachina
Day 9: Huacachina to Lima.
Day 10: Depart Lima
Cusco:
The San Blas neighborhood is our spot of choice to stay. Hike up to San Cristobal Church for the views. Browse the San Pedro Market and Artesenias Asuntas' shop. Our favorite restaurants include Morena, Green Point, Organika, Chakruna Nativa Burgers, the Green Falafel, La Boheme, the Churro Bar, and UFO Udon. Our favorite drink spots include Limbus Restobar, Paddy's, Nuevo Mundo, and Fallen Angel.
The Lares Trek:
We hiked the Northern Weaver's route of the Lares Trek. This route is of lower elevation than Salkantay and shorter. To get to Lares, we hired a private tour van (S/. 250). Stop at the llama and alpaca farm Awana Kancha. From there, we drove through Calca and onto Lares.
We got dropped off at the hot springs (S/. 10 per person), which were magnificent. The Lares trek starts from the hot springs, and we hiked 3-hours to Huacahuasi. A friendly family allowed us to camp in their yard. The next morning, we continued to the highest pass at Abra Ipsay, 3 hours from Huacahuasi. Then, we stopped to trout fish at the large lake just off the pass and continued downhill to Patacancha. In Patacancha, we hired a van onto Ollantaytambo, a 1-hour drive.
You can do this with a guide or not. All hiking equipment can be rented at the shops around the side streets leading to Plaza de Armas. You won't get lost. The trails are well marked and on apps like Mapout or Maps.me.
Ollantaytambo:
Ollantaytambo is the charming town and gateway to Machu Picchu. People usually only go to the train station, but we enjoyed staying there for at least a whole day. The Ollantaytambo Ruins are a wonderfully preserved Inca village. We also hiked the free ruins on the opposite mountain, Pinkuylluna, and enjoyed them even more. We also enjoyed exploring the small square and visiting the little shops. We recommend a gorgeous hotel on the edge of town, Apu Lodge. We left Ollantaytambo on the 4:30 PM train. Sit on the left side of the train for the best views!
Aguas Calientes:
We have stayed at both La Cabañas and Mantu Boutique. We preferred Mantu Boutique, which is also a lower cost. Our absolute favorite restaurant is Mapacho Brewery. On the morning of our hike to Machu Picchu, we paid $24 for round-trip bus tickets to the ruins. We arrived in line around 4:45 AM and caught a bus 45-minutes later.
Machu Picchu:
We have hiked both Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain. Both take around 1-1.5 hours to summit. We would recommend the later time-frame of 10:00 AM instead of 7:00 AM. We recommend this because you'll want to take photos in Machu Picchu early in the morning before the hike and before the crowds arrive. Also, the clouds seem to clear later in the morning (in Oct-Nov).
Paracas:
After visiting Machu Picchu, we flew to Lima and got a rental car. The driving in Lima can be tricky, but the coastal highway was easy. There are tolls and many police checkpoints. Make sure the police return ALL of your items after each checkpoint because we did have a driver's license stolen unknowingly.
The drive to Paracas took 4-hours. We stayed at the fun backpacker hostel, Kokopelli. This hostel was beachfront, had an excellent bar, pool, and evening games like beer pong and foosball tournaments. The next day, we took the 2-hour boat tour to Islas Ballestas, where we saw the Peru boobies, sea lions, penguins, and the Inca Tern. We also caught sight of the Candelabra, a cousin to the Nazca Lines.
Ica:
From Paracas, we drove 2-hours to the small city of Ica. There, we visited the most incredible vineyard we've ever: Viña Tacama. A must-see! We didn't do a full winery tour, although those were available, but stopped in for an incredible lunch.
Huacachina:
From the winery, we drove 30-minutes to the desert oasis of Huacachina. We stayed at the coolest hostel, Desert Nights Ecocamp. We took a 4:30 PM dune buggy and sandboarding tour for the sunset. We loved sandboarding, where we went down headfirst, and honestly, looked a lot more fun than skiing and snowboarding. Huacachina was a huge highlight.

PERU HOP - BUS FROM LIMA TO CUSCO (What to do in Peru) | Travel Vlog
IF YOU'RE READING THIS COMMENT HOLA!
QUICK READ: This vlog is about my PeruHop (get quick to Cusco) trip. In this trip I went to: Lima, Paracas, Huacachina, Nazca and Cusco.
Hey guys! Here is a detailed day by day vlog of my trip with PeruHop. I stayed in Peru for one week. To save you time, I'll give you 5 tips to have before traveling to Peru:
1. Stay in Peru for more than a week (I suggest 2 weeks at least). I had intentions on going to Machu Picchu, but I was unable to make it due to the short amount of time. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO AND EVERY CITY IS UNIQUE.
2. There are two ways to get to Machu Picchu from Lima. Bus or Plane. I HIGHLY recommend taking the bus over the plane. Cusco is 3,399 m above sea level and it said that it affect about 1/2 people that travel there. Taking the bus will give your body time to adjust to the high altitudes.
3. If you decide to take a flight to Machu Picchu most people land in Lima, Peru - fly to Cusco - take a train or hike to Machu Picchu.
4. Make sure to bring tissue with you. Most places don’t have tissue in the bathroom.
5. UBER IS SAFE TO USE!
***HOLA (Hello) SPANISH 101 ***
1. AGUA SIN GAS - still water | AGUA CON GAS - sparkling water
2. La Cuenta - the bill
3. Por Favor - Please
4. Como? - what?
5. Bano - bathroom
6. Cuanto Es? - how much?
7. Donde? - where
8. Gracias - thank you
9. No Gracias - no thank you
10. Chao - bye

PERUVIAN PISCO IS STRONG // DAY 3 PERU HOP
We explored and had coffee in Ica City in the morning then jumped back on the Peru Hop bus to El Catador, a Pisco and Winery producer not far from Huacachina. Their Pisco was soo strong, but their wine was delicious and extra sweet. We might have been a slightly intoxicated by the time we left because those were strong shots! After, we made a short stop to view the Nazca Lines from a tower followed by a 12 hour bus ride to the city of Arequipa.

SANDBOARDING WIPEOUT!!! | Huacachina Sandboarding & Dune Buggy Tour | Huacachina Peru
Today we did a Huacachina Sandboarding and Dune Buggy tour in the famous Huacachina Sand dunes!
Neither one of us had ever been on a dune buggy before - let alone sandboarded down a really tall sand dune - but here we were, giving it a try. What a day. Sandboarding in Huacachina, Peru is something you really should do when you're there. And the Huacachina sunset is to die for!
We booked our Huacachina dune buggy and sandboarding adventure on the Peru Hop web site and away we went - careening through the sand dunes at light speed (well, maybe slightly slower). They even let us attach the GoPro to the side of the buggy so we could get better video. Hopefully, it shows!
Dune buggies are a ton of fun. Do a tour if you ever get the chance. Sand boarding is also fun - but a bit more scary Plus, every bump you hit, no matter how small, rattles your brain.
But do it at least once. A bit of brain shake never hurt anyone, right?
We traveled Peru with our friends at Peru Hop. We enjoyed everything about it. Read about our 2+ week experience right here.
If you're traveling to Peru, we highly recommend Peru Hop. Book your travel right here!

Full day in PARACAS & ICA l PERU #Vlog
Happy New Day ????
I did Paracas & Ica full day tour from Lima. (6:00am - 10:00pm)
Paracas, is on the west coast of Peru. From here you can depart for the Ballestas Islands where the only inhabitants are sea lions, pelicans, different birds and especially the Humboldt penguins.
In Ica, I had a lunch and wine tasting tour(They gave me a 5 shots lol)
I didn't even notice that this tour was included Huacachina Oasis! So i did my second dune buggies & sand boarding.

Paracas-Ica Full day tour (Best tourist destination in Peru.)
Paracas-Ica is probably one of the most visited tourist destinations in Peru. Have a glimpse of the full day tour of Paracas and Ica.
PARACAS PERU | Islas Ballestas & Paracas National Reserve | Paracas Ica | Peru Hop
The next stop on our Peru Hop journey is Paracas Peru, the home of Islas Ballestas and Paracas National Reserve Peru!
After getting a good night's sleep, we wake up, have breakfast, and go on a tour of Islas Ballestas - commonly known here as The Poor Man's Galapagos - a good description. Here, we see hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) of sea birds, dozens of sea lions, and some cute Humboldt Penguins. A great couple of hours in an amazing place - and all for just $15 US each!
Next, a free Peru Hop tour of the Paracas National Reserve. It's just outside the town - about 10-15 minutes away - but it's like going to a completely different world. An arid desert touching up against a beautiful ocean. We wish we could have flown a drone over Paracas National Reserve. It was that beautiful!
Special thanks to our friends at Peru Hop. If you want to see the real Peru, we highly suggest you book your journey with this company. Comfortable buses, great guides, worry-free booking and itinerary changes, and never any pressure to book or buy anything you don't want to. We loved our trip with them (and will use them again in Ecuador!)
