This is the mountain that inspired America The Beautiful... and it's quite a mountain to behold! Take the drive up to the top of Pike's Peak, via a curvy, steep road that was only recently paved. The road takes you above 14,000 feet to the top of one of Colorado's 14'ers.
Watch for a separate video that shows you the drive *downhill*.

Pikes Peak Regional Airshow 2019 - Colorado Springs, CO
Spent the day with my daughter at the Pikes Peak Regional Airshow and what a great show it was. The F-22 Raptor at the end of the show was a great finish to a wonderful show. Don't forget to check out the WWII P-38 Bomber flying in tandem with the new F-22 Raptor to a musical tribute starting at the 55:00 mark in the video - pretty amazing!

Colorado Springs, CO / Pikes Peak & Garden of the Gods / RV Living
RV travel through Colorado Springs CO was great! We drove up Pikes Peak and also through Garden of the Gods. We had a hard time finding a campground at a decent price (Garden of the Gods campground was about $50 nightly, so we passed on that), so we gave boondockers welcome a try, and loved it! The actual town of Colorado Springs CO was perfect and even a place we would consider living full time. It is on the eastern side of the Rockies (Rocky Mountains) and has a quaint country feel but modern conveniences of a city. The camping is expensive, but lots of free and well priced National Forest Camping after May.
Campground: Boondocker's Welcome

Pikes Peak Rocky Mountains, Colorado
Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, in North America. The ultra-prominent 14,115-foot (4,302.31 m) fourteener is located in Pike National Forest, 12 miles (19 km) west of downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. The mountain is named in honor of American explorer Zebulon Pike, who was unable to reach the summit. The summit is higher than any point in the United States east of its longitude.
Pikes Peak is one of Colorado's 53 fourteeners, mountains more than 14,000 feet (4,267.2 m) above sea level. The mountain rises 8,000 ft (2,400 m) above downtown Colorado Springs. Pikes Peak is a designated National Historic Landmark. Road vehicles can be driven to the summit via the Pikes Peak Highway, a 19 mi (31 km) road that starts a few miles up Ute Pass at Cascade. The road has a series of switchbacks, treacherous at high speed, called The W's for their shape on the side of the mountain. The road is maintained by the city of Colorado Springs as a toll road. A project to pave the remainder of the road was completed on October 1, 2011.[16] The project is in response to a suit by the Sierra Club over damage caused by the gravel and sediment that is constantly washed off the road into the alpine environment.
