Hercules Brabazon Brabazon: A collection of 228 works (HD)
Description: Brabazon was the younger son of Hercules Sharpe and his wife, Anne Mary, the daughter of Sir Anthony Brabazon, 1st Bt. Initially raised in Paris, he moved with his family to Oaklands, an estate near Sedlescombe, East Sussex, in 1832. He attended Harrow School, the École Privat, Geneva, and Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating with a B.A. in mathematics in 1844.
His father then wanted him to study law, but instead he left England and went to Rome to study music and art, enrolling at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and Accademia di San Luca. His father attempted to make him return by reducing his allowance, but in 1847, upon the death of his elder brother, he gained financial independence when he inherited family estates in Connaught, the will requiring that he change his surname to Brabazon. From then on he led a life of travel, art study and painting, inspired by the works of artists such as Velázquez and Turner.
In 1858 he inherited Oaklands, whose management he left to his brother-in-law while he continued to travel - mostly in Europe, but with trips to Africa and India - always returning with his watercolours. Describing himself as living for Art and Sunshine, he viewed himself as a gentleman amateur, and did not show or try to sell his work until his mid-seventies.
With the encouragement of artist friends, particularly John Singer Sargent, he began to exhibit, first at the New English Art Club, followed by successful one-man exhibitions at the Goupil Gallery in Bond Street. He died at Sedlescombe in 1906, and is buried there.

The view from the top of the Bell Tower of St Marys, Nottingham.
The wonderful view across Nottingham from the top of the bell tower of St Marys, Nottingham. Its quite fantastic. You can see some of the other rings of bells from here, and the Methodist (I think) church designed for a 1 Ton 8 which has been converted to a Pitcher & Piano bar. Its quite breathtaking, and this is on a hazy day!

The Rambling Comber with lyrics (Nick Skelton)
The Rambling Comber is a traditional song from the south-east of England, performed here by me, Nick Skelton, with Imogen Palmer on bodhrán. My version is based on one collected in Sussex with 3 beats in a bar, though I add an extra one in sometimes and miss one out other times. The images are of Avebury in southern England with its famous stone circle. Lyrics below.
Here are the words of the four verses I sing:
You combers all, both great and small, come listen to my ditty,
For I am he, and only he, regardless of your pity,
For I can write, read, drink and fight, and that is all my honour.
My failing's here, I love strong beer. I am a rambling comber.
A dozen of wool through combs I pull all in the neatest manner.
So sleek and fine, like silk shall shine, all to my master's order.
And when I'm done, it's off I run and take it to the owner.
I make no doubt but that he will count. I am a rambling comber.
Then on the tramp you'll see me scamp -- my shoes are in bad order.
My stockings down unto the ground, I seldom wear a garter,
My coat is scarcely worth a groat, and I have got no other,
Because, my dear, I love strong beer. I am a rambling comber.
A pitcher I now will employ while I have cash or credit.
I'll rant and roar, chalk on a score and pay them when I have it.
For beer is always in my mind, let me be drunk or sober.
A pretty girl is my delight and a glass of good October.

This is BUCS girls cup final match (Swansea University vs University of Glamorgan) highlight on 16/March/2013.
Congratulations on the victory and hope you all enjoy the clip :)
