Granada, Spain - Plaza Bib-Rambla, lively social center of oldtown
Full of restaurants, flower stalls and bars, Plaza Bib-Rambla is the perfect place to hang out and people watch. It is lined with lime trees that offer shade on hot days and you are likely to hear a band perform impromptu.
Located in the heart of old Grandada, it was once the Moorish center of the city. Only a few blocks away is the grand Granada Cathedral. We rented an airbnb apartment there on our very last day in Spain, so it was a wonderful, emotional way to bring our vacation to Andalusia to an end.
As is our custom, Ed did all of the video camcorder filming and narrations heard, while I did all of the still photography, chose the music and edited it all to upload to You Tube.

Places to see in ( Andalusia - Spain ) Plaza Bib Rambla
The square of Bib-Rambla , or of Bibarrambla , Plaza Bib Rambla is a public space located in the Spanish city of Granada , in Andalusia . Its origin goes back to the Nasrid period , having to play an important role due to its proximity to the commercial and mercantile nucleus of the city located in the Alcaicería and in the Zacatín , in whose set of small and interwoven streets the commercial life of the city was forged .
Although in the Muslim era Plaza Bib Rambla was the scene of commercial exchanges, in other periods it was in this square where there were jousting, bullfights and party in general, although little by little it changed its importance and like many squares and streets of the city of Granada was the object of deep urban transformations.
Thus after the remodeling of the late sixteenth century its size was similar to the present one, but it was towards the middle of the twentieth century when Principe Street was opened to communicate the square Bib-rambla with the street of Kings Católicos that runs on the embovedado of the river Darro and the Plaza del Carmen, where the City Hall of Granada is located .
In its present configuration it is a square of rectangular court presided by the source of the Giants of pagan motives and bucolic details proper of a commercial square. At the ends of the square is decorated by iron fernandinas street lamps from the late nineteenth century from a Seville smelter .
Surrounding the fountain are the flower huts that radically change from the sales of the firs, pines and pascueros at Christmas, to the bouquets of flowers on Valentine's Day and on Mother's Day. The trees in the square are linden trees .
In the perimeter of the square are numerous cafés and restaurants that meet and communicate with the commercial streets par excellence of the city. Thus the street Arc of the spoons unites it to the street Mesones; the street Libreros communicates it with the Sagrario of the Cathedral (parish of Our Lady of the O) and the Archbishop's Palace; Príncipe Street and Salamanca Street that connect the street of the Arch of the Orejas with the square of Bib-Rambla, and also others of its narrow streets serve as a union between the square itself and the Plaza de las Pasiegas (where the cathedral rises) of Granada ) and the square of the Romanilla.
( Andalusia - Spain ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Andalusia . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Andalusia - Spain

Granada, Spain - Plaza Nueva (main square of central Granada)
Plaza Nueva is the main square located in central Granada, Spain (located in the southern region of the country known as Andalusia). The square is very lively both day and night, surrounded on all sides by restaurants and cafes. A beautiful ornamental fountain dominates. Further to one side is an ancient public drinking fountain; also the Santa Ana Church dominates the scene at one end, while along another side is the Palace of Justice. A great place to hang out, people watch and relax; it was located not far from where we had our vacation rental in the old Moorish neighborhood of Albaicin, which which was adjacent to it.

Granada, Spain: Plaza de Isabel la Católica (Columbus Square) & other historic areas nearby
The impressive statue Monumento a las Capitulaciones & fountain dominates Plaza de Isabel la Católica, also known as Columbus Square. The statue pays tribute to the discovery of America, thanks to Queen Isabela funding the voyages of Christopher Columbus.
Also nearby was the Corral del Carbón, the only Nasrid alhóndiga preserved in its entirety in the Iberian peninsula; it is from the 14th Century. In addition, directly across from the Corral, is the ancient Moorish marketplace known as the Alcaiceria or Great Bazaar of Granada- dating back to the 15th century.

Granada Great Bazaar Alcaicería souvenir shops
The Alcaicería, home of the Great Bazaar of Granada, was originally a series of streets between Plaza Nueva and Plaza Bib-Rambla, bursting with stalls selling Arabic silks, spices and other precious goods. Nowadays the only remaining section is Calle Alcaiceria, beginning just off the Calle Reyes Catolicos, and extending back as far as the Cathedral. It is an area rich with history and local culture, still packed with interesting, exotic things to buy. These days the Alcaicería is home to Granada's souvenir stalls, selling a variety of Arabic craftwork, such as the fajalauza (traditional local painted ceramics), taracea (wooden inlay, in items such as desks, chessboards, or trinket boxes), and typical granadino farolas (stained-glass lamps). You can see a modern take on these lamps throughout the city centre; white versions are used as streetlights, and they are found as decoration in teterias (tea rooms), shops, and bars. The Alcaicerías stalls also offer ethnic clothing (a remnant of the original market selling cloth and silks), knick-knacks and souvenir memorabilia. Traces of the old market tradition can be found around Plaza Bib-Rambla with stalls selling Moroccan herbs and spices, fruit, silks and granadino trinkets.
