Walking from Korean Friendship Bell to Point Fermin Park in San Pedro, California ???? 【4K】
One of Los Angeles' hidden gems, Korean Friendship Bell is located inside Angels Gate Park in the City of San Pedro, California. This hilltop is one of the best place relax to see the gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean, Port Area and Catalina Island. The Korean Bell of Friendship and pavilion was donated in 1976 to the people of Los Angeles by the people of the Republic of Korea to celebrate the bicentennial of the U.S. independence, honor veterans of the Korean War, and to consolidate traditional friendship between the two countries.
Down the hill is the Point Fermin Park where the historic Point Fermin Lighthouse is located. Built in 1874, the Point Fermin Lighthouse was the first navigational light into the San Pedro Bay.

Vlog #302: I visit Sunken City in San Pedro, CA for a quick stop to check out this cool old area.
In 1929 a natural landslide caused several beachside homes in the Pt. Fermin area of San Pedro, CA, to slide into the ocean. The site was dubbed “Sunken City”. The development of cliffside homes and exclusive bungalows was established in the 1920s by George Peck to attract people who wanted to live with a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean (6). Experts investigating the landslide said that the ground was shifting at a rate of 11 inches per day (1). The landslide occurred at the southern tip of San Pedro sending nearly 40,000 square feet of land into the Pacific Ocean (1).
The first reports of damage occurred on January 2, 1929, a waterline broke underneath the Ocean View Inn hotel on Paseo Del Mar, and a few days later a gas line broke under the same building (6). Most of the houses on the 600 block of Paseo Del Mar were evacuated and relocated before the collapse (1). There was not enough time to move two houses, which ultimately slid into the ocean (5). Part of the adjoining Point Fermin Park also fell (3). The slide displaced houses, commercial buildings, streets, and sidewalks (6).

Tour in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California
de Wikipedia: San Pedro is a port district of the city of Los Angeles, California, United States. It was annexed in 1909 and is a major seaport of the area. The district has grown from being dominated by the fishing industry to become primarily a working class community within the city of Los Angeles.
The Frank Gehry-designed Cabrillo Marine Aquarium had its origins in the old Cabrillo Beach Marine Museum which was located in the historic Bath House at Cabrillo Beach. The Point Fermin Lighthouse, a Victorian-era structure built in the late 19th century, still exists as a museum and park on a bluff overlooking the ocean. The Korean Bell of Friendship is a massive bronze memorial bell donated by South Korea in 1976 to the people of Los Angeles.

Point Fermin Park Beach, San Pedro, California | Destination Diary
Point Fermin Park Beach is located in San Pedro (Los Angeles County) California. It is a beautiful place to get away and take a break and enjoy a beach environment if you are not in the mood to deal with the struggles of sand in your shoes, clothes, car etc. However, on my case, on this day, it was just a really good place to escape and relax.

POINT FERMIN PARK
Point Fermin Park is a public space situated upon the grounds of an old lighthouse that was erected in 1874. This lighthouse, which was built atop a very steep cliff, served as an aid to ocean going vessels especially to whaling ships which docked in the nearby harbor which eventually became the Port of Los Angeles.
San Pedro is the name of the town where the park is located and I first visited Point Fermin when I was nine years on a field trip with my fourth grade elementary school class. The breathtaking ocean views and the huge old trees had a profound impact on me. Later I would return to the park on several occasions until I took up residence nearby at the age of 19. That was a year many creative people such as artists, poets, and musicians would spend many days at this splendid outpost.
Adjoining Point Fermin Park is a place called Sunken City which was a former residential area that slipped down the side of the cliffs during a severe earthquake in 1929. The roads, house foundations, and even sewer pipes are still visible and located in the exact place they had landed after the violent tremor.
Another aspect unique to Point Fermin is the quaint little restaurant called Walker's Cafe which is just at the edge of the park next to the road that leads to Sunken City. Walker's Cafe is the only structure that survives from the 1920s within this location.
As a teenager I spent many a day inside Walker's Cafe drinking coffee and discussing Art, poetry, and philosophy with some of my creative friends of that era. Since those freewheeling days Walker's Cafe has become a haven for bikers and lots of heavy drinking. I am so glad I got to experience the cafe before it became too well-known.
