We're home in New Zealand and are so excited to bring you this 4 part series on the best food in our homeland. This is our 4th New Zealand video and it's based in our hometown of Auckland. Auckland is a very multi-cultural city and the food scene is diverse and vibrant. We hunt down traditional hāngi, Indian chaat, Szechaun noodles and a unique Samoan pie.
What we ate and where we ate it:
1. Hāngi from The Māori Kitchen, Queens Wharf International Cruise Terminal, 89 Quay St, Auckland 1010, New Zealand. Open daily 7:00am to 4:00pm.
2. Chaat from Mumbai Chaat, 1 Kitchener Rd, Sandringham, Auckland 1025, New Zealand. Open Monday 12:00pm to 9:00pm, Wednesday and Thursday 11:30am to 9:00pm, Friday to Sunday 11:30am to 9:30pm.
3. Dan dan noodles and dumplings from Eden Noodles, 105 Dominion Rd, Mount Eden, Auckland 1024, New Zealand. Open 11:30am to 9:30pm.
4. Palusami pie from Blue Rose, 414 Sandringham Rd, Sandringham, Auckland 1025, New Zealand. Open Monday 9:00am to 3:00pm, Tuesday to Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 8:00am to 4:00pm.

A community pantry in South Auckland offering people free food that's been donated has spurred the development of similar projects both here and abroad. Locals are invited to give what they can and to take what they need from an outside pantry, or pātaka, at the first initiative started in Otara. From here the movement has grown, with one of the founders, Mia King, saying she has received interest in the idea from around the globe. HeritageTalks: St James Theatre
In this HeritageTalk, George Farrant presents Auckland's Greatest Theatre - the St James - from its glorious past to its less illustrious present.
Opened in 1928 and proclaimed Auckland's Greatest Theatre, the St James Theatre has had an interesting past with vaudeville shows, musicals, comedy, theatre, dance, royal command performances, and movies. Its future is a bit more checkered since its closure in 2007 following a fire in an adjacent cinema, an electrical fire in 2015, and the recent withdrawal of finance for the planned adjacent multi-storey apartment block that would part-fund the already-started restoration of the theatre.
The mural was fully recovered, and is now in storage prior to its eventual relocation in the Victoria Street entry to the Albert Street underground station in the Central Rail Link.
Listen to George Farrant, Auckland Council Principal Heritage Advisor tell us more about this building with its sad external look, but gorgeous well-preserved Spanish-Renaissance style interior.

But how true is our perception of being green, innovative and fair? Are we really ready for climate change or are we in for a big surprise?
Is our growth and change a liability?
Auckland is growing and changing but this doesn’t need to be a liability. Instead, it’s an opportunity to harness new energy, ideas and collective power to transition to an Auckland that is cleaner and fairer. Other cities and nations have shown that GDP, population, climate readiness – even happiness – can rise rapidly while emissions fall sharply.

Our most vulnerable – including Māori and Pasifika communities – are most impacted by climate change and will continue to be so. Doing nothing on climate means turning our back on our most vulnerable and creating greater inequality in our society, harming us all. It’s time for a transition that:
Creates a more compact Auckland that has great places alive with vitality and restricts urban sprawl.
Decentralises infrastructure with clean energy and green infrastructure at a local level, healthier and more energy efficient homes, water-sensitive design and more convenient and reliable transport choices.
Incentivises and innovates a cleaner, stronger and more resilient economy with jobs that pay well, last longer, keep money circulating locally and develop solutions for a better future.
The future for Auckland and NZ is being determined by decisions made today. It’s time to get it right. This Auckland Conversation brings together a talented panel with diverse perspectives to challenge what we’re telling ourselves about our current progress, explore the consequences of the status-quo and offer their aspirations for a climate-ready Auckland. Madonna (born Madonna Louise Ciccone on August 16, 1958) is an American recording artist, dancer, actress and entrepreneur. Born in Bay City, Michigan and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan, Madonna moved to New York City in 1977, for a career in modern dance. After performing as member of the pop musical groups Breakfast Club and Emmy, she released her self-titled debut album in 1983, and then produced three consecutive number-one studio albums on the Billboard 200 in the 1980s and four more since year 2000.
Madonna is known for exploring religious symbolism and sexual themes in her work. This drew criticism from the Vatican in the late 1980s.[2] In 1992, she founded an entertainment company, Maverick, which published a book of photographs (Sex). She also released a studio album (Erotica) and starred in a film (Body of Evidence) with erotic themes.
