Fishing business booming in Port Nolloth
The local economy in Port Nolloth in the Northern Cape is booming.
Thanks to the abundance of Snoek fish in the Antlantic ocean...Fishermen in Port Nolloth are cashing in. For some this is the only source of income. This year, the fish made its appearance just before Easter time.For more news, visit: sabcnews.com
Port Nolloth fishermen demand permits
Port Nolloth fishermen in the Northern Cape say a project aimed at uplifting them is doing quite the opposite. Last year, the Department of Forestry and Fisheries started small-scale fisheries cooperatives in coastal towns. This was meant to give the beneficiaries access to permits and to various species in the oceans. However, fisherman say their ship is sinking.

Shine rural arts tour: Recording rapper DZF in Port Nolloth
Recording Jonathan, aka DZF on the recent Shine arts development tour in the Northern Cape, South Africa.
DZF's mother, Bonnie, and his small cousin Marcelie joined us during the recording in our lodge.
The recording was provided by Kimro's Beatz.
Shine is a rural arts development programme of the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities in South Africa aimed at facilitating inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities in public places at public events.
The project is funded by the National Lotteries Commission.

Port Nolloth -- Between A Rock And A Hard Place
Between A Rock And A Hard Place is a documentary about the South African diamond mining town Port Nolloth. We follow three men who all have their history with the stones: Geoffrey, an ageing diamond diver, who still has the diamond fever even though the local mining industry is dying. Or Derrick, who was caught smuggling diamonds and ever since tries a law-abiding lifestyle in the taxi business. And then there is Nick, the ex-mayor of the town who was also involved in some dodgy deals, but was, according to his own words, sent free by God.

Kleinzee - An Awesome Holiday Destination!
Kleinzee or Kleinsee is a beautiful holiday destination.
This beautiful Diamond Coast town is on the west coast of the Northern Cape. It is 72km from Port Nolloth and 105km from Springbok.
Founded in 1927 and known for its diamond-mining operations, owned by De Beers. The name is Afrikaans for small sea.
It lies at the mouth of the Buffels River. This river runs through the town but only has water approximately every ten years. The rest of the time it is a dry river bed. The town can only be reached by dirt road.
Kleinzee has numerous tourist attractions like fishing. The Black Bream is a medium sized fish of the Sparidae family. There are also abundant kelp beds along the shores.
There are several shops to buy the necessities. The weather is normally warm and sunny, unless the Atlantic Ocean mist creates a drop in temperature.
The Kleinzee Nature Reserve has over 100 indigenous plant species. For more information about this mysterious small town visitors can visit the Kleinzee Museum to find out about diamond mining and the natural environment. Kleinzee is also home to a huge seal colony of about 450 000. Also don't miss the nearby shipwreck.
