Government House Wellington Tour
Welcome to my channel! This is where I upload vlogs and other videos not related to beauty.
This weekend, my partner and I took a tour of Government House here in Wellington. The house was so much more beautiful than I thought it would be. I had seen pictures online etc, and it looked nice but in person it was so much more beautiful than I imagined. The part I was looking forward to seeing most was the dining room, as it has some gorgeous portraits of previous kings and queens. In addition to the ones I showed in the vlog, there were portraits of King Henry VIII, Edward VI, Elizabeth I, and Mary I which I stupidly was holding the camera the wrong for. This visit definitely reaffirmed my belief in in, and support of, the system of Constitutional Monarchy.

Wellington:
Wellington is the capital city and second most populous urban area of New Zealand. It is at the southwestern tip of the North Island, between Cook Strait and the Rimutaka Range. The urban area is home to 395,600 residents. The city council area has 202,200 people
The Wellington urban area is the major population centre of the southern North Island, and is the seat of the Wellington Region -- which in addition to the urban area covers the Kapiti Coast and Wairarapa. The urban area includes four cities: Wellington, on the peninsula between Cook Strait and Wellington Harbour, contains the central business district and about half of Wellington's population; Porirua on Porirua Harbour to the north is notable for its large Māori and Pacific Island communities; Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt are largely suburban areas to the northeast, together known as the Hutt Valley. Wellington also holds the distinction of being the world's southernmost capital city.In 2008, Wellington was classified as a Gamma World City in the World Cities Study Group's inventory by Loughborough University. The 2010 Mercer Quality of Living Survey ranked Wellington 12th in the world. In 2011 Lonely Planet Best in Travel 2011 named Wellington as fourth in its Top 10 Cities to Visit in 2011, referring to the New Zealand capital as the coolest little capital in the world.
New Zealand's capital
In 1865, Wellington became the capital city of New Zealand, replacing Auckland, where William Hobson had placed the capital in 1841. The Parliament of New Zealand had first met in Wellington on 7 July 1862, on a temporary basis, but Wellington did not become the official capital city for three more years. In November 1863, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Alfred Domett, places a resolution before Parliament (meeting in Auckland) that ... it has become necessary that the seat of government ... should be transferred to some suitable locality in Cook Strait [region]. Apparently, there had been some concerns that the more highly populated South Island (where the goldfields were located) would choose to form a separate colony in the British Empire. Several Commissioners invited from Australia (chosen for their neutral status to help resolve the question) declared that Wellington was a suitable location because of its central location in New Zealand and good harbour. Parliament officially met in Wellington for the first time on 26 July 1865. At that time, the population of Wellington was just 4,900.
As the national capital, Wellington is the location of the highest court of New Zealand, the Supreme Court. The historic former High Court building has been enlarged and restored for the use of the Supreme Court.Government House, the official residence of the Governor-General, is in Newtown, opposite the Basin Reserve. Premier House, the official residence of the Prime Minister, is in Thorndon on Tinakori Road.Wikipedia

PRESIDENT JOHNSON IN NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA - SOUND
With MRS. JOHNSON on the tarmac, Prime Minister HOLYOAKE is joined by PRESIDENT JOHNSON after an inspection of the Guard of Honour at Wellington Airport. The President then shook hands with as many of the five thousand people as he could reach. Later from the airport they drove along the crowded streets to Parliament House to attend a reception. Showered with ticker-tape the President called to the crowds with his personnel address system, just one of the amazing items the car was fitted with. A brief three hours from New Zealand the Presidential jet touches down at Canberra's Fairburn Airport. Stepping from Air Force One President Johnson and Ladybird are welcomed by the Governor General LORD CASEY. Also PRIME MINISTER HOLT and MRS. HOLT. The Guard of Honour comprises detatchments from the three services which the President inspects accompanied by the Parade Commander. Mr. Holt delivers the formal address of welcome. Arc lamps spotlight Old Glory and the special dias from which the President speaks. President Johnson and Mr. Holt move towards the motorcade to take them to Government House. The following day at the Australian War Memorial, President Johnson lays a wreath. At Regatta Point after the ceremonial planting of an Arizona Cyprus tree Mrs. Johnson happily mixed with the spectators. In Melbourne another ticker-tape welcome as they drove through the streets. During the drive LBJ goes on his way after the now notorious red and greed paint incident. In Sydney the motorcade approached the Town Hall and the crowds were dozens deep. An R.A.A.F. Security helicopter flew overhead. As the motorcade makes towards the National Art Gallery, A loud voiced group of demonstrators gave vent to their feelings as police and security men tightened their ranks to keep them under control. Conceivably the highpoint of President Johnson's Sydney visit was a launch trip and lunch on the harbour. At the Maritime Services Board landing, he was presented to members of the crew before embarking on the VIP vessel 'Captain Phillip'. Escorted by Water Police launches and flotilla of small craft the 'Captain Phillip' clips along at about fifteen knots, towards Fort Denison. Firefloats pour graceful acres to the sky and the renowned harbour wears carnival dress. Officially welcoming the President and Mrs. Johnson at Brisbane, State Premier NICKLIN. As at all points of call the Presidential progress was marked by swarms of people trying for that close contact with the man of the moment.

New Zealand North Island Adventure Part 1 Driving between Auckland and Wellington for Christmas
Of the 25 countries I've been to since May (Mindvalley U) this year, New Zealand has officially taken the lead as my favorite and most desired to buy a ranch in.
The ranch is going to have a main house with kitchens, food, games, reading nooks, lots of entertainment and chairs -- while the rest of the property will have 10-15 more TinyHomes designed in radically different ways to accommodate for different tastes!
I will invite over dozens of people and families per year to come and hang out while I'm in town and sometimes when I'm not in town.
This video shows some of the beauty my brother and I saw driving from Auckland to Wellington on the first and second day here in New Zealand!

Jacinda Ardern sworn in as New Zealand's prime minister
A crowd of about 1,000 people gathered on the lawn of Parliament House in Wellington to greet Jacinda Ardern as she was sworn in as New Zealand’s new prime minister. She is the third woman to lead the country and the youngest PM in 150 years. In her first comments as prime minister, she promised to form an 'active' government that would be 'focused, empathetic and strong'. Ardern was elected leader of the Labour party less than three months ago, after her predecessor Andrew Little tanked in the polls. She was picked as the only hope for the beleaguered party to enter government

China premier meets NZ leader
(26 Mar 2017) China's premier was welcomed to Government House by New Zealand Prime Minister Bill English on Monday.
Li Keqiang arrived in New Zealand on Sunday for high-level talks at a time that both countries are pushing to expand free trade.
Li plans to be in the country until Wednesday.
As well as a bilateral meeting with English, the premier is planning to visit a factory and view a photography exhibition.
The premier travelled to New Zealand after visiting Australia, where he warned against protectionism and said China wanted to expand its trading relationship.
Last week, English announced a goal to have free trade agreements cover 90 percent of exports by 2030, up from just over 50 percent at present.
China and Australia represent New Zealand's largest export markets.
China buys huge quantities of milk powder from New Zealand, which is used in high-end infant formula.
The two countries signed a free-trade agreement in 2008.
English said recently the agreement is working well but needs some fine-tuning.

New Zealand: PM promises never to say alleged Christchurch shooter's name
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has vowed never to say the name of the alleged author of the Friday shooting, which killed 50 people in Christchurch mosque, speaking in Wellington on Tuesday.
He sought many things in his act of terror, but one was notoriety, and that is why you will never hear me mention his name, said Ardern during a speech commemorating the victims at the New Zealand parliament.
Speaking a few words of Arabic, she said, We can and we will surround you with aroha (compassion), manaakitanga (process of showing respect, generosity and care for others), and all that makes us, us. Our hearts are heavy but our spirit is strong.
A total of 50 people were killed in the shootings and a further 50 were wounded in what was New Zealand's worst attack.
The main suspect, a 28-year-old Australian, appeared in court on Saturday charged with murder.
