TASMANIA TASSIE DEVILS & LAUNCESTON GHOSTS// VLOG#47
After our first ever flight on Virgin Australia (which was great by the way), we touch down in Hobart Tasmania. We wander the Hobart waterfront then cruise up to historical Launceston which is arguably the most haunted city in all of Australia for a Ghost Tour and some more wandering. Bright and early the next morning we join up with our guided tour of the east coast back down to Hobart.

TASMANIA TRAVEL DIARY! PART 1 | Sharon Farrell Vlog

In January Paul and I took a week off for my Birthday and travelled through Tasmania. Paul organised the whole thing, bless him, and I thought I'd bring my camera along and film the whole thing. I imagined I would just make one video from all the footage - BUT THERE WAS SO MUCH - so in the edit I decided to split it into three parts.
WATCH PART 2:
WATCH PART 3:
We landed in Launceston and picked up our rental car (they upgraded us to an suv for some reason!), and stayed the night at the Grand Chancellor Hotel. We had drinks at St John's Craft Beer which had a great selection of locally brewed beers, although a tad pricey (Tasmania is quite expensive in general). We had dinner in Bakers Lane, and they do a great steak!
The following day we drove from Launceston to Cradle Mountain via Grindlewald (you can give that place a miss). We stopped at Christmas Hills Rasberry Farm for breakfast, which was amazing!
Cradle mountain was amazing, neither of us had done any research (that's quite typical of us) so we were woefully underdressed - it was about 3 degrees and I had denim cutoffs on (and changed in the car!). If you're planning to visit Cradle Mountain I would recommend booking somewhere nearby to stay and give yourself a couple of days to explore the national park, it's really quite spectacular with lots of walking trails.
We then drove from Cradle Mountain to Strahan, a gorgous little town at the mouth of the Gordon River. We had dinner at Hamers Hotel and it was lovely, although we've hear Bushmans is the best place to eat - alas we did not make a reservation in time.
And that's it for part 1!
FTC - No part of any of this trip or these series of videos is sponsored, we paid for an organised this entire holiday ourselves.

TASMANIA TASMAN PENINSULA & PORT ARTHURS HEART OF DARKNESS // VLOG#48
Wild and wonderful Tasmania just gets cooler (and colder) every day we're here. We head down the Tasman Peninsula, stopping at the historic town of Richmond, visiting Pirates Bay and Eaglehawk Neck, then spend a day at the infamous prison at Port Arthur where we even manage to convince Kate to experience the most severe solitary confinement cell around. Tasmania just keeps getting wilder (and unfortunately wetter)

Welcome to Part 2 of our Tasmania Adventure! Follow us as we take a cruise down the Gordon River, and drive across the island from Strahan to Hobart, the capital.
WATCH PART 1:
WATCH PART 3:
We started the day in Strahan and got up suuuper early for our Gordon River Cruise, a 5 hour cruise that takes you out to sea, and back along the river to visit Sarah Island, one of the first Penal Colonies in Australia. SO INTERESTING, and a must see if you're travelling to the west coast.
After the boat we had some drinks in View 42, a hotel on the hill above the town great views of Strahan. To knock off the beer cobwebs we walked through the peoples park to Hogarth Falls. Dinner that night was in the local fish and chip shop and it was yum - a plate of fresh scallops for 15 dollarydoos!
The next day we drove from Strahan to Hobart and stopped in Queenstown, a mining town. It was incredible to see just how much of the land was stripped to fire the smelters in the mine, although it seems to be slowly recovering and some greenery is coming back.
We stopped for more pies at the Hungry Wombat Cafe - that was a great pie (lots of pies in Tasmania), and then drove to Russel Falls. After all that walking we stopped at a nearby raspberry farm and grabbed some snacks and coffee - and saw an echidna on the way!
In Hobart we stayed at the fountain view hotel, which was quite nice and very conveniently located in the middle of the city. We had some beers and food at the New Sydney Hotel.
Hope you enjoyed part 2 and stay tuned and subscribe for part 3 tomorrow!

Welcome to part 3 (aka the final installment) of our Tasmania Adventure! I really hope you've enjoyed following us as we travelled around the gorgeous Australian State.
WATCH PART 1:
WATCH PART 2:
In this part we started with breakfast (and second breakfast) at the Salamanca Markets. Then we were off to the MONA MOFO Festival, and it was AMAZING - highlight of the trip so far. Hobart is a pretty cool little town.
The following day was spent at Port Arthur, an old convict settlement about 1.5 hours away from Hobart. It was abslutley fascinating and another amazing day out. We had dinner that night at Pancho Villa - and it was the best Mexican food I've had outside LA.
Our last day was spent driving north from Hobart back to Launceston where we started our trip. We stopped at Freycinet National Park and climbed to the lookout to see Wineglass bay. It was spectacular, unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time to enjoy it. A week is not enough to see everything in Tassie!
We spent our last night at the Leisure Inn Penny Royal Hotel in Launceston, it's so odd but quite cool. It's an old mill complete with waterwheel, windmill and old tudor style outbuildings. Not what you expect to see in Australia! We had dinner that night at the old mill restaurant attached to the hotel, I didn't film anything (we were so exhausted) but it was great! I would definietly stay there again.
And the following morning we drove the 19 minutes to the aiport (Launceston is ridiculously convenient), and flew back to Sydney. Waaah!
