Dead Mall UK - Princes Quay HULL
Princes Quay in Hull opened in 1992 during a recession but in the late 1990's till mid 2000s was it's heyday when most of the units were full, but the credit crunch in 2008 hit it hard and by 2010 many of its largest tenants such as JJB Zavvi GAP and TK Maxx had gone leaving it with it's only significant anchor store, Primark.
Princes Quay also suffered when a significant new shopping centre opened adjacent to Paragon Station opened. St Stephens shopping centre opened offering convenient shopping, eating and entertainment making the pedestrianised route to Princes Quay in the rain look too much effort for little gain.
Princess Quay management has tries several times to reinvigorate the shopping centre but has either annoyed its tenants or just failed.
The removal of Top Deck in Princes Quay was the most controversial as the tenants were removed at short notice to convert the whole area to a cinema. Customers were also not happy as Top Deck had a great atmosphere and contrast to the rest of the shopping centre, and ironically had better footfall with its good mix of food, drink and retail.
The Harbour Deck has seen several redevelopments as the eateries moved in and out but none have ever lasted more than a few years. When TK Maxx moved to St Stephens Shopping Centre, the huge unit has never seen another serious tenant, it was a creche for a while and now an arcade.
The Level that has maybe struggled the most is the the 3rd floor that saw GAP leave (with the GAP shop management blaming Hull for it's demise) and French Connection and JJB being the biggest occupiers of the unit all closing. The idea of turning it into an outlet shopping centre is probably the worst idea it has ever had.

Walking in HULL / UK ????????- 4K 60fps (UHD)
The city of Hull, also called Kingston upon Hull, is a port city South of York in England.
We start our walk at the city centre on the Victoria Square. We walk around the centre a bit which is rather empty this evening because Hull also hosts Europes biggest fun fair. The fair is happening at the moment.
From the centre with sights like the Princess Quay and Hull Minster we also see the old town with the Scale Lane and some old bars around there. We miss the marina this time. Walking along the River Hull it is getting darker so we end this walk on the Scale Lane Swing Bridge which is an interesting construction.
