How to Get From The Cancun Airport to Playa Del Carmen
Here is our guide on how to get from the Cancun Airport to Playa Del Carmen. For the best transportation company to book with, private transfers and more information, see our article:
How to get around Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and Tulum.
In this video I go over all the basic information needed when taking public transportation in Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and Tulum.
Taking public transportation in a foreign city can seem scary but it's truly easy and a much more affordable option. While taking taxis will go directly to your destination it will be much more expensive
When arriving at the Cancun International Airport you have three transit options to choose from.
1st - You can take the ADO bus. The ADO is a large, comfortable and hassle free way to get out of the airport. Currently it cost less then 100 pesos to get from the Cancun International Airport to downtown Cancun and just over 200 pesos to get from the Cancun International Airport to 5th Avenue (Playa Del Carmen). From there you can transfer and take the ADO bus to Tulum.
2nd - You can take a taxi. A taxi from the Cancun Airport to downtown Cancun or the Hotel Zone currently cost you 300-400 pesos per ride. Be sure to ask the locals what the current rate should be before getting into a taxi.
3rd - Booking a private shuttle. If you’re traveling in a group of 3 or more this will likely be the most affordable option. Book it before arriving.
As tourist the only two Cancun buses you need to be aware of is the R-1 and R-2 bus. They travel between the Hotel Zone, Downtown Cancun and the ferry terminals.
Now when traveling in Playa Del Carmen or Tulum taking a colectivo will be the most budget friendly option. A colectivo is a small minivan that works as a bus. The colectivo will have the final destination (and sometimes other major stops) on the front of their windshield. The colectivo that travels between Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and Tulum will stop at any point along the way, just be sure to sit near the drive and let them know where you want to get off.

Learn the best and cheapest ways to get to Playa del Carmen from the Cancun Internation Airport and back. We explore options by ADO bus, shuttle, taxi, and rental car.
For about $10 USD you can take a bus to Playa del Carmen. You can pay in dollars, but take our advice and get the best rate possible. The bus ride is about an hour and ten minutes. A taxi ride is faster, but a little more expensive. If you want the most freedom, you can rent a car, but this certainly isn't the cheapest option.

Kay, the owner and manager of Kay Tours, was born and raised in Berlin, Germany. He worked in the Dutch flower industry as a international purchaser and traveled frequently, before moving to Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
His tour company grew out of the realization that many local tour operators were not sufficiently satisfying their customers; thus Kay devoted himself to providing greater care and attention in crafting memorable and personalized tours.
Kay’s experience working for a number of local tour operators, along with his passion for excellence, has ensured that his company is now one of the region’s leading private tour operators.
The staff at Kay Tours are skillful, versatile and knowledgeable; each guide is at least bilingual and has many years of experience working in the Riviera Maya area, guaranteeing visitors receive the highest quality of service both during the planning stages of their day tour and during it.

BEST BEACH | Playa del Carmen BEACH AND CENOTE!
FREEDOM:
Facebook:
Twitter:
Site:
Best beach in Playa del Carmen and a Playa del Carmen cenote. All in one place. This is my personal favourite, and best beach in Playa del Carmen.
Number of years ago, as Cancun was growing, Playa del Carmen was merely a small fishing village. North of Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, was a blip on the map of the Riviera Maya. With the gorgeous beaches of Cancun, people obviously knew that this would continue south towards Playa del Carmen, and being a small town at the time, the beaches in Playa del Carmen would be much less crowded .. and so it began. This was the birth of the massive tourist destination and one of the fastest growing cities in the world, Playa del Carmen.
Speckled with amazing beaches in the area, Playa del Carmen sits right on the beach and you can walk from the center of the town, a few blocks and be putting your feet in the Caribbean. Amazing. However, being so close to the town, the beaches in Playa del Carmen, are some of the most overrated and crowded. If you want to see the best beaches in Playa del Carmen you must get out of Playa del Carmen.
Another amazing thing to do in Playa del Carmen and the surrounding areas besides the beaches, are the cenotes! The cenotes are an incredible creation of nature where the porous rocks give way to expose fresh water underground. Usually, these cenotes are located in land, and generally a minimum of a few hundred meters away from the beaches. Thats one of the reasons that this place Xcacel, is one of the best beaches in Playa del Carmen.
About 25-30 minutes south of Playa del Carmen, and a 500 meter walk from the highway that goes from Playa del Carmen down to Tulum, you will find Xcacel beach and Xcacelito cenote. During my time on the Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen, I have not found such a pristine beach sitting on the Caribbean with a cenote so close. Since Xcacel is a protected area, there is a small donation upon entry to keep the beach and cenote in top shape. This is usually a minimum of 20 pesos, a dollar or two. Unlike other beaches in the area like Xpu Ha, Tulum beach, and Maroma beach, there are no beach clubs, no vendors, nothing. Only a building with some run down bathrooms and a few palm tree's to get some shade!
The cenote itself is quite small, but a great way to refresh yourself after a dip at the beach, in the warm Caribbean. Great to wash away the salt water and sand as well! Since the cenote at Xcacel is quite small, they only allow a certain amount of people in at a certain time, so there can be a small wait, but if you go any day during the week, you should not have a problem!
Videos on other Playa del Carmen beaches:
Akumal Beach, south of Playa del Carmen:
Mamita's Beach in Playa del Carmen:
Xpu Ha Beach south of Playa del Carmen:
I highly recommend seeing this beautiful beach south of Playa del Carmen, and make sure to respect it while you are there! Take away any garbage, dont harass the animals, lizards or vegetation. Keep this gorgeous beach and cenote as pristine as ever!

BREATHTAKING CENOTES in the RIVIERA MAYA
We're discovering some absolutely breathtaking cenotes and the astonishing Coba Ruins in today's Tulum vlog.
►Learn Spanish like us!
If you want to really discover Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and the Riviera Maya area surrounding Cancun, we highly recommend taking this incredible trip to the ancient Mayan Coba ruins. From there, it's just a short drive to these three nearby cenotes.
The entry fee to get into Coba is 70 pesos per person but you should plan on renting bikes to get around the massive Mayan grounds which are 50 pesos per bike. The entry fee for these cenotes is 55 pesos per person per cenote.
If you’ve never been to a cenote, these three near Coba are a wonderful place to start! Not all cenotes are underground like this, in fact, the most popular Playa Del Carmen and Cancun Cenotes are above ground. Still beautiful nonetheless, but nothing compares to venturing deep into the ground near Tulum Mexico to unmask the crystal clear blue/green cenote water below!
Taking a dip into these brisk waters is a little bit of a shock at first, but these cenotes near Playa Del Carmen are probably our best experience on the Yucatan Peninsula to date! It’s not just bikinis and beautiful women in this Playa Del Carmen vlog (although there is plenty of that). Prepare yourself for some of the most gorgeous nature you’ve ever seen with some Quintana Roo cenotes in today’s Mexico travel vlog.
