Deep Diving in Port Elizabeth #prodive
Meditation is to dive all the way within, beyond thought, to the source of thought and pure consciousness. It enlarges the container, every time you transcend. When you come out, you come out refreshed, filled with energy and enthusiasm for life. - David Lynch
Being down under is refreshing for the soul. You become one with what's around you - It's a whole new world, yet we know more about the universe than the waters right on our doorstep.
The ocean is a peaceful place! Here's a short clip I made just to show you how truly beautiful it is.

Swimming with sharks in Port Elizabeth! #prodive
The ocean is the blue heart of the Earth, serving as a home, a school, to us the ocean is known as an infinite place - we are always learning. Seeing sharks in our waters shouldn't be a bad thing, or strike fear in your bones - in fact, sharks are a positive sign that we have a healthy ecosystem.
Thousands of sharks are being slaughtered everyday just for their fins, we are forgetting how important they are to our life on Earth. Shark finning, is the practice of slicing off the shark’s fins while the shark is still alive and throwing the rest of its body back into the ocean where it is left to die a painful death. Some sharks starve to death, others are slowly eaten by other fish, others drown, because just like humans, sharks need to keep moving in order to stay alive. When they swim water is forced through their gills for oxygen.
Shark fin itself is tasteless, it just provides a gelatinous bulk for the Asian “delicacy” or more commonly known as Shark fin soup, which is flavoured with chicken or other stock. Many people, especially the consumers, are unaware of the sufferring that finning causes. If we remove apex predators from an ecosystem the result is the same as removing the foundations from a building – total collapse.
Let's take better care for our waters!
Today, Project AWARE empowers thousands of divers in more than 180 countries by providing them with the tools, resources and inspiration to take actions - large and small - that contribute to advancing the health of the ocean. Project AWARE is committed to bringing together a worldwide community of divers battling ocean threats where scuba divers are uniquely positioned to directly and positively affect real long-term change - marine debris and shark and ray protection.

Great Whites and Seals in Plettenberg Bay #prodive
A short video I put together of a small group of us that went through to Plettenberg Bay on the coast of South Africa - The town of Plettenberg, nicknamed 'Plett' is situated almost on the border of the Western and Eastern Cape. Built on the hillside, most of the town is on a steep slope leading down to the sea, which means that regardless of where you find yourself accommodated, you will be treated to spectacular views of the bay and surrounding hills and mountains.
The Robberg Peninsula is home to a large Cape fur seal colony, seals can often be seen in the surf off Robberg Beach. Great white sharks, attracted by the seal colony, can also be spotted from the high ground of Robberg Peninsula. We had the priviledge of meeting one face to face!
Seals have a layer of fat under skin called blubber, which keeps them warm in cold water. Their slick fur coat is streamlined for gliding through water. They live for an average of 25 - 30 years of age. The seal is a carnivorous mammal that usually feeds on fish, squid, shellfish, crustaceans or sea birds. Some, like the leopard seal, eat other species of seals.
A seal's whiskers help it to detect prey in dark murky waters and because they can spend months at sea, seals can sleep underwater. Some seal species can hold their breath for nearly two hours underwater by slowing their heart beat and conserving oxygen.

Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Port Report
Port Elizabeth was not only another ministry port for Logos Hope, but also the port where crew members could look forward to a week of rest and refreshment. Although the ship was closed to the public for a week, crew members continued to bless those they met on the streets and were surprised with the joys of unplanned encounters. The week gave renewed energy and passion to crew members as the ship began bustling with activities again with many ministry opportunities.
