Tulum Ruins 2017 - Ancient Mayan fortress in Riviera Maya - Playa Del Carmen - Cancun - Mexico
Tulum Ruins 2017 - Ancient Mayan fortress in Riviera Maya, Playa Del Carmen en Cancun - Mexico. Filmed on iPhone 7 Plus, guys don't take your iPhone in the water, my speakers don't sound as they should now, buy a plastic bag protector that is your best bet, I tried a Lifeguard case and the picture quality is not the same, so I couldn't use it.
600 pesos (Around $30) for a 45 min trip from Playa del Carmen to Tulum, we also paid $35 for a boat trip to see the Corals, it was OK.
Tulum Ruins are open until 5pm, so get there early, pack water, sunblock, and snacks, you will need them, also a sun hat too, it gets really hot in there. Enjoy Tulum it is awesome!

Video guide:
0:00 On the road to Chichen Itza (Yuka Tours) with our tour guide, Steve! Yuka Tours provided super comfortable transportation, which was included with the trip. This is a link to the tour we took:
0:30 There are a variety of open shops and vendors all throughout the Mayan ruins. Some people get mad about this, but Steve explained it perfectly: hundreds of years ago, the city was a vibrant place and was also filled with vendors. Commerce has existed throughout all of history, so there isn't any sense in getting upset in seeing this happen again in recent times. Also, you can score good deals if you haggle with the vendors and your dollars help contribute to the local economy. The quality of the goods is better than what you will find in 5th Avenue, so if you want to pick up gifts this is a good place to do it.
1:00 Steve explains how the city was formed out of the jungle. They left the city and the jungle immediately came back. The sun is EXTREMELY strong here so make sure to wear sunscreen and bring an umbrella and a hat. This is one of the largest ancient cities for the Mayans and features diverse architectural styles due to cultural diffusion. This could be seen as the New York of the Mayan age.
2:05 Watch out for the wind...two people from California apparently do not know how to operate an umbrella :)
2:15 Skull platform or Tzompantli. This platform used to carry decapitated heads as a means to scare or intimidate their population.
2:40 Mayan ball game pit for their version of racquetball. What isn't similar to racquetball is that the losing team is killed and their heads displayed for all to see.
3:00 The Temple of the Bearded Man: this is a masonry building that was likely a holy site.
3:13 Chacmool is a pre-Columbian type of sculpture with a bowl that held offerings to the gods. They likely depicted warriors or soldiers.
3:35 El Caracol Observatory: a giant building that was likely used as a lookout or a place to observe the night sky. It seems to be aligned with the orbit of Venus, which the Mayans held in high esteem.
4:15 Hacienda Restaurante Selva Maya. You wouldn't think a buffet place would be good, but this place served up delicious, traditional Mayan food that you likely would have trouble finding anywhere else in the world.
5:22 Zaci Cenote: gorgeous underground cenote with beautiful, awe inspiring landscape. However, likely to be crowded with hordes of tourists.
5:42 Cenote Xkeken: another cenote that is much more hidden and usually filled with locales. Swim with guppies, catfish and harmless bats and enjoy beautiful scenes such as a ray of sunlight shining down from above.
7:17 Cathedral of San Gervacio: located in the ancient town of Valladolid, Yucatan, this is a beautiful house of worship.
7:54 Puerto Cocina Urbana: amazing seafood restaurant a bit off the beaten path in Playa Del Carmen's 5th Avenue. Especially known for their seafood tacos and dishes. Extremely fresh and highlighted recommended.
8:48 Parque Los Fundadores: we came back to see a performance of flying Papantla men (Voladores de Papantla). They fly around a 98 ft pole while music plays (supposedly invented to end a drought).
9:22 Karen's Seafood Steakhouse and Pizza. This is a cute place to rest and have a drink. The food and drink are unremarkable, but do it for the live music and the swing chairs!

Tour & Reviews of Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya,,Cancun. Mexico 2019
This hotel is just amazing. The architecture of the buildings, the décor of the rooms, the furnishings on the beach are simple, classy, beautiful and tasteful. And comfortable. This made our stay a pleasure. There are a lot of things to point out, so I'll try to make it simple and organised, and rank things in order from where they are closer to perfection to where they might benefit from improvements.
1 - THE POOLS. These are fabulous. There are three, each different and all outstanding. They all have great design, shape (lots of nooks and curves), features (steps, seats), temperature, and are build with a great material, a textured concrete that resembles rough granite and is pleasant to the touch and anti-slip. The first pool is closest to the beach. This has a bar in it, accessible from the water only, and is the busiest and noisiest pool, with music and activities on and off. The second pool is very close to the first and further in from the beach. This one is similar in appearance but a bit quieter. In both of these pools the surface material is light grey which gives the pools' water a light blue/green colour similar to the water in the sea (see later). The third pool is furthest in, much quieter, with a darker surface material which makes it a deeper blue, more similar to a tropical inland lagoon than an open beach. We used all three every day, kind of moving along them during the day as we retreated to our room.
2 - GARDENS. Stunning and with some wild-life (coati, agouti, iguanas etc).
3 - ROOMS. Rooms are great. Spacious, tasteful, well-lighted, comfortable, clean. Nice bathroom, with a large Jacuzzi and a large shower: stone glass and wood everywhere. We had an amazing terrace with couch, table and chairs, and a huge built-in planter.
4 - BEACH. Blue water, great sand, superb furnishings and service. There are algae in parts of the sea-bottom, and this can be a nuisance and make the water in patches darker, but the huge bonus is that this makes the location a great spot for sea-turtles. There are (fenced-off) turtle nests in several spots on the beach, and a few snorkelling explorations will almost certainly lead to encountering one of these amazing animals. We bumped into one at our first attempt and stayed watching her for twenty minutes while she was peacefully grazing on seaweed and swimming periodically upwards to breathe. Worth the whole trip in itself.
4 - SERVICE AND STAFF. Flawless.
5 - FOOD AND DRINKS. Drinks are good quality, with proper ingredients (branded spirits), generally better than in similar resorts of the all-inclusive variety. Now the food. We find that two weeks in a resort will lead to generally getting tired with the food offering: although the level here was generally good, this was in the end the case here too and I was longing for some of my own home-cooked food. My advice to the management would be to take much greater advantage of the great opportunity offered by the fact that the resort is in Mexico (Mexican cuisine is great!). There is a Mexican restaurant but after 3-4 visits you have basically exhausted the menu, and then what? Two poolside restaurants that have great settings, but average food; and other restaurants (Italian, French, Asian) which are rather enclosed and not too true to their inspiring cuisines. I wish everything were simpler, fresher, and less fussy (cut the mayo please). I do not think people should go to all-inclusive resorts for high-end meals, but for flawless ones, which can take repeated visits. A favourite for us became the frequent, but unpredictable, al fresco buffet-style feasts. And breakfast!
All in all we had a great time and would visit again

The definitive review & guide to Xcaret Park, based on my recent visit.
About Xcaret Park:
Xcaret Park (pronounced ish-kah-ret) is the biggest and most popular activity/destination in the Riviera Maya of Mexico.
This huge eco park features a wide variety of activities, shows, and exhibits for people of all ages. If there's just one park or one activity you choose to do during your Mayan Riviera vacation, chances are, Xcaret Park should be it. I hope my review gives you a better idea of what Xcaret Park is all about, and why people (like myself) love it so much.
There are many eco parks, activities, and destinations in the Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Riviera Maya, and Tulum areas of Mexico, but it's easy to see why Xcaret Park is THE most popular of them all. Xcaret park is owned by Experiencias Xcaret, which operates several of the top tours and parks in Cancun & the Riviera Maya.
I made this video to show you what to expect and give you some tips to help you get the most out of your visit. If you have any other questions about Xcaret Park, leave a comment below and I'll respond. Thanks for watching!

Grand Coral Beach Club Riviera Maya
Riviera Maya, Mexico. Full HD video. Grand Coral Beach Club.
The club itself is a fairly large building with restaurant and bar space, centered on a nicely-sized infinity pool. The pool deck is filled with sun beds and lounge furnishings, and the restaurant offers tables for both large and small groups. The decor here is minimalist and very relaxing, allowing you to sit back and enjoy a gorgeous view of the ocean, punctuated by several perfectly placed palm trees.
The food at Beach Club, Grand Coral is also excellent. Their shrimp and fish tacos are juicy, perfectly flavored and surprisingly filling, and the fish and chips are amazingly light, crispy and decadent. You can choose from other local favorites such as a variety of ceviches or opt for traditional bar fare such as hamburgers or nachos. It is all thoughtfully prepared and really great value for the quality.

Playa del Carmen is one of the best-linked destinations in the Mayan Riviera. Highway 307 leads to Cancun, which lies 68 km (42 mi) to the north, and to state capital Chetumal, which is 320 km (198 mi) south of Playa del Carmen. By boat, Playa del Carmen has an important dock where ferries depart to Cozumel daily. As for air travel, the best option to arrive at this paradise in the Mayan Riviera is the Cancun International Airport, located about 45 minutes from Playa del Carmen.
What a private tour is like with Absolute Adventure Mexico
We went on a private tour with Absolute Adventure Mexico tour company. We went to Tulum to see the ruins by boat and snorkeling off the coast of Tulum. Then we went to a remote cenote. We finished with a meal and then back home. This is one private tour company we recommend because of there good service, knowledge of the area, care to visitors, and quality.
