Queenstown Gardens,Queenstown
Queenstown gardens, Lake Wakatipu
It's our first day in Queenstown. We took a 1 hour and 40 minutes flight from Auckland to Queenstown.
After dropping off our luggage, we walked around the city centre, and the lake Wakatipu. We also visited Queenstown gardens.
The information about Queenstown gardens from the website
The Queenstown Gardens, located next to the town of Queenstown, New Zealand is a botanical garden which contains a variety of exotic and native trees and plants as well as a large pond and a range of facilities. Some of the facilities in the Garden include Tennis, Lawn Bowls, Skate Boarding, BMX Biking, Skating, Disc Golf and Ice Skating/Ice Hockey (See External Links).
There is a variety of trails in the garden with views of the surrounding mountains and of Lake Wakatipu and the Frankton Arm as well as Queenstown itself.
The information about Lake Wakatipu is from the website
Lake Wakatipu is the third largest lake in New Zealand and at 84 km long, it’s also the longest. Its name comes from Maori, Whakatipu wai-māori, which could mean “growing bay” or “bay of spirits”, depending on the translation of the historic Southern dialect.
The Z-shaped lake was carved out by a glacier more than 15,000 years ago during the last ice age. It’s a magical lake with its own ‘heartbeat’ – the lake rises and falls by about 20cm every 27 minutes. The best place to see this is at Bob’s Cove.
The phenomenon is a lake seiche, or ‘standing wave’. A combination of the mountains, which rise dramatically out of the lake, wind and atmospheric pressures causes the water to sway back and forth.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO IN QUEENSTOWN | Queenstown Travel Guide | New Zealand
Hey guys!
We had a blast in Queenstown during our first-ever trip to New Zealand. Queenstown is a beautiful resort destination in Otago in the south-west of New Zealand's South Island. It perfectly sits on the shores of the South Island’s Lake Wakatipu, with the Remarkables mountain range in the background. Queenstown is known as the 'adventure capital of the world' - the list of adventures you can throw yourself into here is encyclopedic – from bungee jumping to alpine heliskiing to zip-lining to skydiving to jet boating...the list goes on and on and on. This town is a perfect destination for everyone from adrenaline and thrill-seekers to visitors who just want to chill out.
Here are our recommendations of things to see and do in Queenstown:
LAKE WAKATIPU
Lake Wakatipu is Queenstown’s crown jewel. Upon arriving in Queenstown, you will undoubtedly notice the huge lake the town sits adjacent to. The lake is the perfect place to experience what Queenstown has on offer.
SKYLINE GONDOLA + LUGE
A scenic ride on the iconic Skyline Gondola is a must-do Queenstown activity.
You’ll be carried 450 meters above Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu to the top of Bob's Peak, where you’ll enjoy a spectacular 220-degree panorama with breath-taking views of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Walter and Cecil Peak and, of course, Queenstown. When you get to the top, enjoy the spectacular views of Queenstown.
We purchased Gondola + 5 Luge Rides for $67. It is well worth the money for sure!
BUNGEE JUMPING
Want to conquer the bungy jumping in the land where they all began? Queenstown is the Bungy capital of New Zealand’s adventure industry, it’s ground-zero for commercial bungy jumping anywhere in the world.
The Kawarau Bungy Centre (AJ Hackett Bungy)
If you haven’t been to the Kawarau Bungy Centre, then you haven’t really been to Queenstown. This is the world home of bungy, birthplace of the adventurous spirit that has shaped Queenstown’s character and one of the most famous attractions in Queenstown, New Zealand.
QUEENSTOWN GARDEN
The Queenstown Gardens are just a few minutes walk from central Queenstown and offer a beautiful and tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle. The gardens are a popular place to take a picnic, relax with friends and family and enjoy the views of Lake Wakatipu. This is perfect for those who prefer a more relaxing activity in Queenstown.
ARROWTOWN
Arrowtown is a charming historic gold mining town in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. Arrowtown is located on the banks of the Arrow River and is just 20 minutes from Queenstown. This quiet and relaxing town is a must-visit if you are traveling to Queenstown.
SHOTOVER JET
Shotover Jet is the world-famous jet boat ride. This ultimate jet boat experience is the only way to access the spectacular Shotover Canyons. Get ready to experience gravity-defying stunts, the speeds of up to 90kmph, and hold on tight for the famous 360˚ spins and more.
We bought the early bird pass for $135 and purchased an additional of $60 for the photos and videos they took for our ride which we included in this video too.

-- About this video --
Today we are taking the Queenstown Gondola to the top of Bob’s Peak to the start of our ziplining tour with Ziptrek Ecotours Queenstown. Our way down? Taking 6 long ziplines or “flying fox” all the way back down to Queenstown!
After gearing up, our first zipline in Queenstown is a practice run and then we get onto the faster and longer ziplines. We even can flip ourselves around and do a flying fox upside down!
At various different platforms, our guides tell us things about the forest, the environment and sustainability to make it a zipline ecotour.
We are also given different challenges with each zipline to make ourselves go faster. We are having a blast on one of the most famous zipline tours in New Zealand.
Ziplining in New Zealand is a super fun way to enjoy the New Zealand forest and one of the awesome adventure activities in Queenstown.
So what do you think of zip lining in Queenstown? Would you put it on your Queenstown Bucket List?

Go-Karting in Queenstown – New Zealand's Biggest Gap Year – Backpacker Guide New Zealand
Day 140: Today we are finding the ultimate rainy day activity in Queenstown! We head to Game Over to do some go-karting in Queenstown plus laser tag and more at this indoor activity centre in Queenstown.

-- About this video --
It’s raining in Queenstown! Our activity is cancelled so we need to find something else to do in Queenstown or else this won’t be 365 Days: 365 Activities. We’ve found just the place!
We hop on a bus to The Remarkables Shopping Centre in Frankton just outside of Queenstown to Game Over Queenstown. This is an indoor activity in Queenstown so perfect for a rainy day like today.
Before we hit the go-karts, we have a round of laser tag which is pretty damn hilarious. Queenstown has been taken over by dinosaurs so we shoot them and each other for points. Fun!
Then we get onto the go-karts! This indoor go-karts with electric engines are super fast and a great way to get competitive. We give ourselves racer names then hit the go-kart tracks. We have around 14 laps to battle it out with lots of sharp corners, underpasses and overpasses. There’s a lot of screeching of tyres and foots on the peddle!
Go-kart racing in Queenstown was our rainy day saviour today and so much fun. We round our time at Game Over with a quick play of the escape room laser game before heading back to Queenstown.
So what do you think of Game Over Queenstown? Would you do any Queenstown laser tag or Queenstown go karting? LUK in the comments!

Dunedin to Queenstown Road Trip | Dunedin Travel Guide | New Zealand
Hey Guys!
Welcome back to another episode of Two Hungry Diners - greetings from New Zealand. We traveled to South Island in New Zealand a couple of weeks ago and had a lot of fun there. We landed in a city called Dunedin, a city in New Zealand, at the head of Otago Harbour on the South Island’s southeast coast. It's known for its Scottish and Maori heritage, Victorian and Edwardian architecture, and a large student population. If you haven't checked that video out you can follow this link:
In this video, we are doing a fun road trip from Dunedin to Queenstown. We heard that New Zealand is a fun place to drive around and the scenery is stunning so we decided to video our road-trip. There are a couple of routes you can take from Dunedin to Queenstown from the fastest to the longest route (along the coast of South Island) where you'll be gifted with amazing scenery. But because we want to reach Queenstown quickly, we decided to take the shortest and fastest route.
While this route is not the most scenic route but the sceneries are not that bad given the nature of this beautiful country. Along the way, we stopped at a couple of towns: Lawrence, Alexandra, Cromwell & Lake Dunstan, Arrowtown, and finally Queenstown. The drive-in itself took about 3 1/2 hours without long stops but since we stopped in almost every major towns it took us a good 8 hours to reach Queenstown. All in all, it was really fun, so check out this video hopefully you guys get an idea what it is like to drive around in New Zealand.
