My crazy Russian vlog. Peter Scott explores weird & wonderful Russian pastimes
RT Doc’s Peter Scott has lived in Russia for 7 years but still manages to find things that surprise him. He sets out to experience the craziest Russian entertainment he can find and begins his quest at a bikini skiing festival in Siberia. Even though it all happens on a snowy mountain in the spring, festival-goers still ski and snowboard in swimsuits! It’s a long-standing tradition but recently it gained wider popularity after video pictures went viral.
Another place in Russia, where bikini skiing is ‘a thing’, is Sochi, the seaside resort that became popular after the 2014 Winter Olympics. It doesn’t just attract tourists and sports enthusiasts from Russia but from all around the world. Snow skiing in a swimsuit is made possible by the combination of majestic Caucasus slopes and a subtropical climate. Peter may not be a winter sportsman himself but he certainly appreciates the fun and energising atmosphere.
Skiing in bikinis may be fun but Peter doesn’t stop there, he also takes a magical mystery tour through some of the country’s more off beat, creative and destructive past times, including an unusual bath and tractors like you’ve never seen before. He soon reaches a point where, “This is Russia baby!”, is all the explanation he needs for the more way out and whacky things people do for entertainment. All you need is an open mind and the willingness to be amazed!

Nikolay Kritsky used to make a camerawork for many videos of Real Russia. But his main job is photography. He is a professional commercial photographer these days.
But since the spring of 2016, during his walks with a little son, he started taking a photo camera with him and just shot all people around in the streets of Ufa and Krasnodar in Russia, and in Arambol, Northern Goa, India where he lived for three months with his family at winter 2016/2017.
That is how in time he's got a good collection of an interesting undirected photos with a people caught just in the street.
He used to post all of those photographs in his Instagram and Facebook, and began attract an attention of local people of Ufa because it is reflected the life and faces of their city,
When Nikolay's street photos got enough of resonance, the local Miras art gallery offered to make an exhibition in their walls.

Moscow - Two Arbats (1981)
Arbat Street (Russian: Арба́т), mainly referred to in English as the Arbat, is a pedestrian street about one kilometer long in the historical centre of Moscow. The Arbat has existed since at least the 15th century, which makes it one of the oldest surviving streets of the Russian capital. It forms the heart of the Arbat District of Moscow. Originally the street formed part of an important trade-route and was home to a large number of craftsmen.
In the 18th century the Russian nobility came to regard the Arbat as the most prestigious living area in Moscow. Almost completely destroyed by the great fire of 1812 associated with Napoleon's occupation of Moscow, the street required rebuilding. In the 19th and early 20th centuries it became known as the a place where petty nobility, artists, and academics lived. In the Soviet period, it housed many high-ranking government officials.

Rudolf Barshai: The Note - A lifelong quest for one single note (2012)
Rudolf Barshai was one of the Major figures in the 20th century musical world. A personal friend of Shostakovitch, he played with David Oistrakh, Leonid Kogan, Sviatoslav Richter and Mstislav Rostropovitch. A funding member of the Moscow Philharmonic Quartet (later known as the Borodin Quartet), he also created the Moscow Chamber Orchestra in the late 1950s. The orchestra took the world by storm...
In 1977, at the peak of his career, Barshai emigrated to the West to perform works banned in the USSR. He led orchestras in Israel, Britain, Canada, France, Switzerland, and Japan. A master of orchestration, whom Shostakovich trusted to arrange his quartets into chamber symphonies. Barshai considered his greatest achievements in life the ending to Bach's Art of Fugue and a version of Mahler's Tenth Symphony.
Filmed in his personal house in Switzerland, Rudolf Barshai goes back over his life and work, his friendships and encounters with the greatest musicians of the 20th century. Oleg Dorman shot a moving and intimate testimony of a man who rejected political ideologies to dedicate his life entirely to music. This film, shot in 2010, is the maestro's confessional monologue, recorded a month before his death.
A film by Oleg Dorman.
