Quidi Vidi Lake - St. John's - Canada Day Fireworks 2007
Annual Canada Day fireworks @ Quidi Vidi Lake in St. John's, Newfoundland (Canada).
I laid the cam on top of my truck in an area others couldn't reach(so I thought!) to prevent unwanted noise capture. However, a few 'SKEETS' found a way in. You can hear them from time to time hawking out spit, cursing etc. As well, the auto focus didnt work too well on a couple (30 second or so) intervals... Might be because the fireworks drowned out the reference (ground based lights) lighting.
I also trimmed the video down below 10 minutes as I don't have a director's account yet!
Skeets:
Skeets are dudes with peach fuzz mustaches and cheezy rap clothing accompanied by a horrible irish-ebonic-1600's english accent spoken fast as an eminem rap. Come to think of it, just add a cheesy mustache on eminem and you get the picture or take snoop dog, cut his hair a few inches and bleech him out a bit.
They can usually be found by schools, pawn shops, stores that sell single cigarettes etc. :)

Conception Bay to Quidi Vidi, Newfoundland - Canada HD Travel Channel
On the rough shore of Conception Bay north of St. John's you can find a number of old fishing villages such as Paradise, Portugal Cove or Pouch Cove. Portugal Cove is one of the oldest fishing villages in Newfoundland; Pouch Cove has been settled already in 1611. The boats are drawn ashore as always about steep wooden ramps with the help of winches. In Pouch Cove, a local artist painted the traditional fishing huts very vividly on a wall.
Quidi Vidi lies at the eastern outskirts of St. John. The fishing village was founded in 1700 and you can still see some of the fishing huts built on stilts which were typical for this the area.
The fact that this place has been combated can be seen in Quidi Vidi Battery, overlooking the village. The Battery was built in 1762 by the Frenchmen. On the occasion of the centenary of Canada in 1967 it was reconstructed according to plans of 1812.
In Quidi Vidi is also the largest microbrewery of Newfoundland - the Quidi Vidi Brewing Company and the oldest sporting event in North America – the St. John's annual regatta - takes place on the Quidi Vidi Lake.

Last weekend I ventured out to Quidi Vidi Village (5 minute drive), drone in hand, determined to capture some of its beauty. The whole time I was flying the drone I was dodging seagull attacks. I'm lucky the drone survived. I plan to post more drone videos in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
In case you were wondering: Quidi Vidi (pronunciations vary, even amongst longtime residents, but Kiddy Viddy is the most common)

Maritime of My Life (Pt. 68) - Flight from Halifax, NS to St. John's, NL
July 10, 2017 - I've come this far east, but I have to keep going - I still have one more province to go, and I'll collect the whole set: all ten Canadian provinces!
My Westjet flight from Halifax, Nova Scotia to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, is only two hours, but there was a lot to see! Thanks to the beautiful weather I was blessed with this day, I could see virtually all of Nova Scotia, clear over to the Bay of Fundy and Northumberland Strait, with both New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, just on the horizon.
We get a good view of Cape Breton Island, and even a little piece of France - the colony of Saint Pierre et Miquelon - before coming in over the Avalon Penninsula and southeast Newfoundland, to a grande circle around downtown St. John's and its harbour, before finally landing at St. John's International Airport, 15 minutes outside of downtown.
Other great sights I saw: Signal Hill, Cape Spear, Quidi Vidi Lake, and a whole lot of roads I claimed to be the famed Trans-Canada Highway (some of which were correct)!
Oh, and that iceberg out in the Atlantic. It was very rare to see one this far south this late in the year, but that's 100% Greenlandian Iceberg right there, b'y!
How she goin' my trout, Newfoundland?

Bald Eagles Quidi Vidi St Johns Newfoundland Canada
Spent a few hours today filming and watching a family of Bald Eagles that have been here for the past couple of years. Sorry for the shaking, the wind was around 70km/h. We were sheltered from the hills behind us but it still was breezy. Also didn't noticed the specs on the lens protector on the SLR. :(
