Rainham Hall ~ Video Tour.
Rainham Hall is a Grade II* listed Georgian house, owned by the National Trust, in Rainham, in London Borough of Havering. Built in 1729 for Captain John Harle, the house was transferred to the National Trust in 1949; let to a number of private tenants, it remained closed to the public until late 2015.
Rainham Hall is a three-storey brown and red brick house next to the church of St Helen and St Giles in the centre of Rainham in the London Borough of Havering. It is an example of a Dutch domestic Queen Anne style house. Many of the original features of the house remain, including trompe-l'œil frescos on the walls and Delft tiles in the fireplaces. Outside the front of the house are Grade II* listed wrought-iron railings that feature the intertwining initials of Harle and his wife Mary. They are described as being amongst the finest in London from that time; a guide published by the London Borough of Havering suggests that they might have been created by Jean Tijou, a famed blacksmith who produced the ironwork for Hampton Court Palace. Along with the main building the grounds contain a stable/coach house and lodge, all of which were given Grade II* listed status in January 1955. Some of the walls in the garden and stone garden vases of contemporary date were also listed at the same time. The two-acre garden features a recently replanted 30-tree orchard, one of the largest in London. Harle used the coach house and hall as the main centre for his trading activities.

61306 Mayflower @ Rainham - Essex 23rd March 2019
LNER Thompson class B1 no. 61306 Mayflower, hauling Steam dream's excursion charter to East Grinstead (for the Bluebell railway), banked by diesel no. 33207 (Jim Martin).
I believe that it had been 50 + years since a passenger steam hauled train passed through Rainham - Essex. Steam hauled charters are not that uncommon along the Tilbury & Southend line, but they normally travel via Upminster. I stand to be corrected, but I believe that this unusual route taken along the branch line via Rainham, was due to possible on going engineering works on the mainline. All in all it was a very pleasant morning, with none of the nonsense sometimes affiliated with 60103 Flying Scotsman's trips. I got chatting to a man who used to be a fireman on the steam locos that used to work this route, He was over the moon that he had the chance to see and hear such a rare wonderful spectacle. A shame that due to the sheer length of the train, 61306 stopped way beyond the platform and with only a 3 minute window, gave onlookers little photo/video opportunities.

Lusty Leaves London - HMS Illustrious Rainham Essex
Lusty Leaves London - HMS Illustrious Rainham Essex. She was suppose to leave Monday afternoon 13th May but due to high winds it was decided the Thames barrier shouldn't be attempted. Instead, she was rescheduled to go the following morning 4am - yikes! I managed to get up early and caught her at Rainham just before 5.30am - which the dog didn't mind. Fortunately I did meet three other insane individuals stationed to see her pass by. Glad I did!!

Rainham Marshes in The First World War Documentary
The Rainham/Purfleet area has been in use by man since the days of the so –called ‘Cavemen’. You can see some of the petrified tree trunks still remaining today from a 6,000 year-old Neolithic forest, opposite the very northern end of Wennington Marsh, in the Thames foreshore. However, much of Rainham came to use in the last few centuries by the Ministry of Defence on Aveley Marsh; we investigated what archaeological remains of this are left with guests Luke Baker and Michael Clark.
