along the trail meets a junction to Rawson Lake which is 2.7 km from the junction. The surrounding meadows are bright green and absolutely beautiful. Be aware that these meadows are prime Grizzly Bear habitat and i had the chance to meet one of the Grizzly bears.
Canada Vlog: Upper Kananaskis Lake, Canadian Rockies, Alberta Province!

This vlog features our first hike in Canada! Upper Kananaskis Lake is in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park in a region known as Kananaskis Country. It's situated between the famous Banff and the travel hub of Calgary city, so it's often overlooked. This was our introduction to Kananaskis Country, and we were blown away by the beauty. We went back a couple times throughout the summer and fall, so more vlogs to come!
We had originally planned to hike the trail to Sarrail Ridge and Rawson Lake, which departs from the Upper Kananaskis Lake parking lot. To our dismay, we learned upon arrival that the trail was closed due to bear activity. We decided to walk the trail around Upper Kananaskis Lake instead, and we weren't disappointed! It's 15-km around the entire lake. We did the first third plus the extra 2-km round trip trail to Hidden Lake. You get stunning views of the lake all along the trail. The trail is mostly flat, so it's great for families with young children. You also get a fantastic view of the lake from the parking lot, in case you're not up for a longer walk. We saw a lot of people having a picnic at the tables next to the parking lot. We'd love to go back with our own packed lunch! We also hope to go back in 2020 to hike the Sarrail Ridge / Rawson Lake trail.

A Twin Hike - Rawson Lake Trail 360 Peter Lougheed Park
On this fine June day my twin sister and I went for a hike together. We were lucky to have perfect weather and the scenery was spectacular. I decided to take my Ricoh Theta S 360 camera along to capture some of the beauty. This was my first outdoor adventure with the VR camera. I'm sure that it won't be the last. Enjoy. Father's Day at Forgetmenot Pond in Kananaskis Alberta
We took a drive on Father's Day 2011 out to Forgetmenot Pond, which is a man made pond on the Elbow River up stream from Allen Bill Pond and Elbow Falls. It's at the end of highway 66 where it meets the Powderface Trail. The campsite out there is the Little Elbow Campground.

The Wedge Scramble - Kananaskis, Ab
Here's my SOLO climb of The Wedge in Kananaskis July 5th. Beautiful day for a scramble as it was around 25 degrees out.
What I have tried to show in this video is the Crux section in detail as well as the trailhead approach, which is where it appears many people get off on the wrong track right from the start.
My thoughts on this hike are that it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. The CRUX wasn't as intimidating as I had imagined it to be. That being said, ONLY SCRAMBLE WITHIN YOUR CAPABILITIES ans COMFORT. There is the potential for bad consequences if you don't know what you are doing.
Hopefully this video encourages you to Get Out and Explore this amazing park area that we have! @thenorthface #thenorthface

There's a place for forestry in the future of K-Country, but it needs to change.
A vital headwaters region for Albertans and one of Canada’s premier destinations for outdoor recreation, significant portions of Kananaskis are open to industrial development.
