Check out other western-themed attractions in and around Calgary. Heritage Park has a whole town's worth of historic buildings, trains, and even a paddlewheeler, all celebrating the history of the Canadian West. The Glenbow Museum's Mavericks: An Incorrigible History gallery focuses on Alberta, while the Niitsitapiisinni: Our Way of Life gallery focuses on the Blackfoot First Nation in Alberta, both in the past and today.
Fort Calgary tells the story of the establishment of Calgary as a NWMP (now RCMP) post in 1875, and how it grew into a town and then a city. Further afield, Bar U Ranch National Historic Site, 90 minutes south of Calgary, is an historic ranch that is associated with two of the four founders of the Calgary Stampede, John Ware, and the Sundance Kid. The Bar U Ranch is part of the scenic and historic Cowboy Trail through the Rocky Mountain foothills.
Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, near Fort Macleod, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Fort Museum in Fort Macleod is also worth a look; it focusses on the history of the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP, now RCMP) and the First Nations (2 ¼ hours south of Calgary). Fort Macleod is also the western terminus of the historic Red Coat Trail used by the NWMP on their famous march west in 1874. Calgary to Rocky - Fall - Timelapse
Calgary to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. A nice foothills drive, driven this run so many times.
Calgary (/ˈkælɡəri, -ɡri/ (About this sound listen)) is a city in the Canadian province of Alberta. It is situated at the confluence of the Bow River and the Elbow River in the south of the province, in an area of foothills and prairie, about 80 km (50 mi) east of the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies. The city anchors the south end of what Statistics Canada defines as the Calgary–Edmonton Corridor.[13]
The city had a population of 1,239,220 in 2016, making it Alberta's largest city and Canada's third-largest municipality.[7] Also in 2016, Calgary had a metropolitan population of 1,392,609, making it the fourth-largest census metropolitan area (CMA) in Canada.[9]
The economy of Calgary includes activity in the energy, financial services, film and television, transportation and logistics, technology, manufacturing, aerospace, health and wellness, retail, and tourism sectors.[14] The Calgary CMA is home to the second-highest number of corporate head offices in Canada among the country's 800 largest corporations.[15]
In 1988, Calgary became the first Canadian city to host the Winter Olympic Games, followed in 2010 by Vancouver.
Rocky Mountain House is a town in west-central Alberta, Canada located approximately 77 km (48 mi) west of the City of Red Deer at the confluence of the Clearwater and North Saskatchewan Rivers, and at the crossroads of Highway 22 (Cowboy Trail) and Highway 11 (David Thompson Highway). The surrounding Clearwater County's administration office is located in Rocky Mountain House.

CP's New SD70ACU Heritage Units First Run Together
Canadian Pacific has started to rebuild their long stored, and worn out fleet of SD90s, into SD70ACU's. The first few rebuilds came out in a coat of CP Red, however two units emerged in the railroads classy heritage paint scheme worn by the Royal Canadian Pacific. CP 7010 and 7015 were the first two units to wear classic scheme in the SD70ACU rebuild program.
While a previous video of mine featured the 7015 leading an officers special, this video shows BOTH the 7010 and 7015 making their first run on a freight train together. We start off at Saint Paul Yard as the duo gets underway with 197. After departing in excellent afternoon light, we'll catch up to it again in Shoreview as the train works in run 8 to make the grade. The next shots are taken around Shoreham as the train picks up a large cut of double stacks bound for Canada. The final shot is in Plymouth, MN where a set of search light signals still stand to this day. The duo roar past in a setting sun, as they take train 197 off to Canada.
