BRAIN CORALS IN DANGER - Playa del Carmen / Mexico 2018
Using the knowledge I acquired in Asia along with Oceanquest Global and Sea Shepherd Dive, I started to monitor the corals at the dive sites at PLaya del Carmen. After many dives on the dive spot TORTUGAS in Playa del Carmen in Mexico, I could see that Brain corals are suffering from a serious white syndrome. It is a type of bacteria still unknown. Many scientists have already detected the same syndrome in South Florida and also in South America.

It was my fifth dive, part of the certification program.
Cleaning mask from water was a tremendous problem for me, right from the first time I start diving. Any time I will try to do it, I will get water in my nose, will start choking and then will shoot to the surface. On this dive I did pass successfully many other tests I suppose to take to become a certified diver.
And I've been told, that we are done with testing and just gonna go for the pleasure drift dive.
But by the end of the dive, something special was waiting for me. It was a surprise.
Master diver invited me to kneel down on a sandy spot, I thought we are going to wait for others or he is going to show me something.
He looked at me and sign me to clear my mask. We were at more than 60 ft deep. I immediately realize, If I fail to do it right, I will not be able to shoot up to the surface, not without serious consequences. For the fraction of a second cold chilling fear filed all my body and all my life went thru my mind, it was one of those moments. But I was able to calm myself down and get my scared mind under my control and was able to clear my mask flawlessly. Absolutely cool and like a real pro diver. Being very happy and proud of myself.
And then master diver signs me again to clear my mask. Everything I described before happened again, but now I felt a bit of anger, why do I have to do it again? I was losing my cool and control. I did it. Not as good, being sloppy and rushing to be done and over with, but at the same time I felt more satisfied and confident. (In the video is my second time)
Later on, already on the boat, I realize, that what I learn is not just how to clear my mask, which is I did of course, but also how to get my emotions and fears under control, suppress animal self-preservation instinct and be able to do what needs to be done.
If I will not be able to learn how to do it, I will not be able to enjoy all of those many dives, that I enjoyed after this one, or some of the other fun stuff I love to do as well and will love to tell you in my next video.

Cozumel Dive from Playa Del Carmen, 2/18/2018
We did a two tank dive off the island of Cozumel. It was a direct 40 minute ride in our dive boat from Playa Del Carmen to the reefs ove Cozumel. We were down about 95 feet on our first dive, and about 40 feet on our second. Special thanks to Devin Raleigh for the footage. I pulled a noob move and forgot the SD card for my GoPro. He had a better camera anyway... Dive sights included Punta Tunich and Paradise Reef (Paraiso) We saw a nice mix of marine life including Queen trigger fish, Splendid Toadfish, Barracuda, Spotted Eagle Ray, Spotted Moray, Spiny Lobster, Goldspot Goby, Sea Cucumber, Painted Elysia, Ornate Elysia.

Cancun Dive Sept 09 - Part 2
Part 2 of our scuba dive on the Cerebros reef, which is a couple of minutes boat ride from the Dressel dive shop at the Iberostar hotel, half way between Cancun and Playa del Carmen on the Riviera Maya (Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico). A shallow dive - maximum depth 14m - and a bottom time of 50 minutes. A nice current flowing along the length of the reef made for a very relaxing drift dive. Lots to see and Tomas, the videographer, did a great job capturing it all (apart from the huge Barracuda that came to say hello about 5 mins before we headed back to the surface. Thanks also to Lu, our dive master.
