Like and subscribe to follow our journey as we live in an RV full time to chase adventure and seek out true happiness and enlightenment.
We are Maddie and Mike and we are setting out on the adventure of a lifetime this summer. Join us as we hit the road and pursue our passions. We are artists and aspiring videographers/photographers who are using our passion for filmmaking to document our lives in preparation for a massive lifestyle change.
Now that we are living in an RV full time while traveling North America, we plan on uploading more often (pending our geographical location and availability of wifi).
We are full time traveling artists and spend our free time relaxing in nature and exploring. Moving into an RV and traveling has been a dream of ours for a long time. We turned that dream into a goal and worked our asses off to save money, build a viable source of income on the road and minimize our possessions. We also reflected on what truly mattered in our lives. The apartment, cars, clothing and consumer products were actually consuming US! After months of purging and downsizing, we finally moved into our RV on May 15. We stayed for 2 months in an RV in Edmonton AB and saved on rent while continuing to work. This allowed the final push of saving money prior to taking off into the great unknown.
Now we are chasing adventure, seeking out new opportunities to display our art and make money while never forgetting to stop and smell the roses.
We are often faced with questions and comments regarding how we afford to live on the road in an RV. The truth is, saving enough money to take off was one of the easier parts of our preparation. Adjusting our daily and monthly habits to be as frugal as possible, learning how to be comfortable with less and developing a method to earn money from virtually anywhere were the real challenges. This lifestyle is addition by subtraction. Letting go of the routine, letting go of many of you possessions and letting go of the fear holding you back from such a big lifestyle change will grant you the freedom to actually LIVE your life. It may not be for everyone but life in an RV is definitely for us!

We Saw a BLACK BEAR on Mount Washington + Visiting STRATHCONA Park | Vancouver Island Road Trip
We continue day 2 of our Vancouver Island road trip with a fun hike through Strathcona Provincial, which is the largest provincial park on the island, and also the oldest in British Columbia having been established in 1911! That morning we met up with family friends who took us hiking on the Helen Mackenzie Trail, which goes through meadows, across creeks and streams, and into the forest. It was an easy walk, and we had beautiful weather for it - we even had a picnic by the lake! Then in the afternoon, we rode the ski lift to the top of Mount Washington, which offers beautiful 360-degree views of the area. It was mountains as far as the eye could see, but the real highlight was spotting our first black bear of the trip!
A special thanks to Trover our partner for this journey!

We Saw a BLACK BEAR on Mount Washington + Visiting STRATHCONA Park | Vancouver Island Road Trip
Come join us for an epic road trip to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada where partner with Trover to cover the island from the south all the way up to the north. Unlike most Vancouver Island road trips and travel series which focus on the triangle of Vancouver, Nanaimo and Tofino, we branch off and visit lesser-known places such as Gold River, Port Alice and Malcolm Island just to name a few.
Our trip to Vancouver Island starts off with a flight from Toronto to Vancouver, followed by the shortest flight of our lives from Vancouver to Victoria. From Victoria, we head to our base of Mount Washington in the central part of the island, where highlights include spotting black bears, hiking in Mount Washington and visiting vineyards in Comox.
Our journey then continues to Gold River, Sam's hometown, where we board the Uchuck III en route to Friendly Cove. We also go to nearby Campbell River where we walk along a beautiful fishing dock, tour a hatchery and come across a black bear, and hike in Elk Falls which was our favourite hike on this entire journey.
Heading to northern Vancouver Island, we base ourselves in Port Alice and visit the nearby towns of Port McNeill, Port Hardy and Telegraph Cove. For separate day trips, we take the ferry to Malcolm Island where we visit the former Finnish Community of Sointula and take another ferry to Alert Bay where we have the opportunity to appreciate First Nations totem poles, artwork and museums.
Our Vancouver Island road trip concludes with visits to Parksville, Nanaimo and Victoria. Overall, it was one of the best road trips we've ever done focusing mostly on nature, outdoor adventure, wildlife spotting and visiting off-the-beaten-path villages and communities that have a lot to offer but aren't that well known.
If you are thinking of doing a Canada road trip, Vancouver Island should be at the top of your list. For more information and tips on all the places we visited on Vancouver Island, you can check out this Trover list:

Cheap Fishing Charter Nanaimo BC | Guided Sport Fishing Trips
Cheap Fishing Charter Nanaimo BC: Call (250) 247-9291 -- If you would like an exciting salmon fishing trip, call (250) 247-9291 as soon as possible!
If you've constantly wished to attempt your hand at salmon fishing in BC, you may wish to know a few essentials about the types of salmon populating our local BC waters.
Of all there are 5 various species of salmon here in BC; Sockeye, Coho, Chinook likewise known as Spring salmon or Atlantic salmon, Chum and Pink salmon. Atlantic Salmon are found in the northern Atlantic Ocean and in rivers that flow into the North Atlantic and (due to human intro) the North Pacific. Many of us here in BC call them Springs.
Found along BC's coastline are lots of populous feeding premises used year-round by Chinook and Coho salmon, which in turn supply awesome salmon fishing. Several million Pacific salmon appear along this shoreline each year too, most on spawning migrations to their rivers where they were born in BC.
Salmon have actually constantly been vital to life in the Pacific Northwest and a part of our heritage in Canada. Whenever sport fishing enthusiasts get together to talk about fishing, British Columbia and salmon are associated - and for good reason!
These exciting and powerful sport fish variety in size from 3 to over 90 pounds! Now that you understand where to come to discover world class salmon fishing, all that you will require now is some equipment you will require to land these amazing fish.
It's important to utilize the right equipment when you are salmon fishing in BC and I personally tend to be on the high side of these numbers with concerns to rod length and line strength because you never understand when you'll hook into a beast salmon!
If you are fly fishing for salmon in freshwater, you will require a 12 to 16 foot graphite or fiberglass rod, as well as a sturdy fly reel and a fly line. If you are fishing for Chinook or Coho salmon, you will need a boat or trolling rod that has a star-drag baitcaster reel equipped with 20 to 45 pound-test line.
If fishing is your passion, salmon fishing in BC can be an incredible experience.

VANCOUVER ISLAND TRAVEL VLOG | Rainy Day Driving on LOGGING ROADS, BC, Canada ????️????
Come join us for this Vancouver Island travel vlog as we highlight our journey driving on a rainy day taking detours on loggings roads en route from Port Alice to Comox. Some of the highlights include stops in Woss, Schoen Lake and Sayward along the way.
Let me warn you guys, you’re in for a lot of rain on this episode! The plan was to drive from Port Alice to Comox, while taking a few detours to go hiking, but that didn’t happen. The weather had other plans and since there was a bit of a deluge going on and we kinda wanted to stay dry, we had to adapt. So, if you’re down for some adventuring down logging roads, random car chats, and a cute deer or two, then come and join us for this rainy day of driving.
After a quick lunch stop in the town of Woss, we continued our off-road adventures on Vancouver Island down bumpy roads on our way to Schoen Lake. We almost didn't make it given the weather conditions!
We then got back on the highway and tried to tack on a few more kilometres before our next stop in Sayward, which we had been told is a good place to try and see elk. Well, I think the elk were probably hiding from the rain, but we did see a cute deer munching on a perfectly manicured garden, so that made it up for it.
And that was that. We continued straight down to Comox, where we checked in to our home for the night and proceeded to order Sam’s favourite take out: pizza! Stay tuned as we'll have more Vancouver Island travel videos from Parksville, Campbell River, Nanaimo and Victoria coming out soon.
