???????? Huascarán National Park (Huaraz, Peru)
Coming from the Northern hemisphere makes me instinctively look for snow in December. This time I found my winter fairytale in Huascarán National Park with its hundreds of glaciers, lakes and lagoons at 3-6k meter altitude. Gorgeously turquoise waters, green valleys with snow-capped mountains on the background - unbelievable beauty and diversity of landscapes.
With hiking trails from just a couple of hours up to 10 days, even one month would not be enough to explore this place properly but here’s what one can do in 4 days:
Day 1️⃣. Take it easy and get acclimatised to the 3k+ altitudes. No joke, I’ve seen people vomit and faint on their first day in the mountains. Of course it doesn’t mean staying at home and doing nothing the whole day.
Get one of the widely offered bus tours to see the picturesque Llanganuco lagoon.
Along the way you'll visit the Yungay village, now declared a national cemetery, as it was fully destroyed in 1970 by an earthquake followed by an avalanche, killing about 20.000 people.
Try the local delicacy “cuy”, a fried/roasted guinea pig (the locals find it funny that we keep these guys as pets, for them it’s nothing else but food). Drink mate de coca to prevent altitude sickness.
Day 2️⃣. Test if you're altitude-ready by taking a bus tour to Pastoruri Glacier situated at a bit over 5.000m (broke my personal record there!). There’s a short one hour hike at the top, which lets you fully experience the fun of walking at high altitudes - all the movements are slower, the body doesn’t listen and respond to you properly, while the amazing scenery makes you want to run around, jump, take one million pictures and build a snowman! Sad fact, this glacier is disappearing due to the climate changes and will be completely gone in about 20 years.
Day 3️⃣. Hike Laguna 69, the highlight of the trip and deserves a separate post - stay tuned!
Day 4️⃣. Hike Laguna Wilcacocha, with its breathtaking views over the whole Cordillera Blanca. Passing through the tiny local village on the way up you’re most likely to hear Quechua rather than Spanish. And wrap it all up with a hot-tub-relax at the termal waters in Monterrey!

Tyler's peace of peru blog: That's what patas are for one
This one goes out to my girl shan fran who I miss dearly. She was there for me as my site mate and I miss her so much. I made this as a result of feeling nostalgic about being away from Peru for a couple of months now...it was truly a wonderful wonderful time when it was good...and I miss everyone who was a part of those great times.
I think about you all on a daily basis and can't wait to come see you all soon.
Shanimal...sorry but, in the words of Sarina Vanderwoodsen, I gotta go...
Llanganuco Lakes Áncash / Tourist Destination Peru
The lakes are located at 3850 and 3860 m in the magnificent Llanganuco gorge. With their amazing turquoise color, they are among the most beautiful in Peru. Do not trust their tempting color, the water temperature at the surface is only 7ºC ! Around the first lake, Chinancocha, there is a path that allows a little walk. You can observe some strange trees called queñoal or queñua. Their trunks seem like if they were made of multiple brown sheets coming off in thin layers. The second lake, Orconcocha, is located at a distance of about 1000 meters of the first one and is less visited but no less beautiful. You access it on foot or by car through a dirt track.

MY SAN PEDRO EXPERIENCE (Peru) - What I Learned From The Nature
This is a video about what I learned from my first San Pedro Ceremony in Peru (23.10.2016).
I did it in Wilcahuain which is a little town near Huaraz in the north of Peru. If you are interested in that place, let me know.
PERU November 2015
Our adventure started in the city of Cusco and then did a 3 day Trek through Lares Valley. We finished the trip at Machu Picchu.

How to Get Best Deals in Airfare Flying to Peru - FlyPeruNow.com
What We Need to Learn
To simplify the concept, these are the most important questions we need answered:
1. What are the things, rules, behavior (industry standards) that I need to know so I will be allowed to travel by air? Which authority office is responsible for such aspect?
2. What airline companies are adhering to industry standards as set by authorities? How are they performing or competing against others while at the same time not straying from these standards?
In the United States, flying and all aspects pertaining to air travel is being regulated and monitored by the Federal Aviation Administration or FAA under the US Department of Transportation.
For purposes of clarification, there are luggage and items which individuals may bring along or carry with them as they occupy the plane seats. Grouped together, these are all carry-on items. Travelers flying within the United States are limited by the FAA to a single piece of carry-on luggage and one other thing to be brought along, labeled as personal item. Also allowed are checked-in luggage; these are bags or packages which are permitted to be onboard the plane but stowed in a different place away from the occupants of the seats.
Carry-on things sub-categorized as personal item are: handbags, briefcases, laptop computers or notebooks, small-sized backpacks and daypacks. Aside from the carry-on luggage and the personal item, air travel passengers are allowed to bring on board other accessories: a coat, a reading material, a tiny bag or package as food storage, and health-related devices for personal use, like a wheelchair or walker.
Virtually all of domestic airlines in the US allow for each passenger one piece of carry-on luggage, that is 45 linear inches all in all. To get the total linear inches of any item, one must add every measurement in all sides, the height, width, and depth. And so, to adhere to this rule, the total of all measurements in all sides combined together, must not exceed 45 inches.
40 pounds is the usual weight restriction on carry-on items, for most of the airlines. In any case, it is optimum to check with the airline preferred to determine the exact details particularly about restrictions like weight limit.
Aside from the carry-on bag and other items brought along as one is seated, most airlines allow every passenger one bag stowed in a different place of the same plane. This other bag is called checked-in luggage.
Maximum measurement for checked-in bags is usually 62 linear inches. All sizes larger than what is prescribed shall be checked. Everyone must also be aware that oversize luggage or package will not be allowed onboard, neither as carry-on nor as checked-in item.
The typical maximum weight limit for checked-in luggage is 50 pounds. As always, it is strongly advised to obtain exact information from the actual airline company where flight has been booked.
The specifics for and implementation of standards in safe air travel are responsibility of the Transportation Security Administration or TSA, an office under the US Department of Homeland Security. Bags and baggage to be checked-in are almost at all times opened for strict scrutiny. For such purpose, TSA approves certain locks and similar security products; it is likewise regularly advised to avail TSA-approved locks in order to avoid possible damage to the luggage being inspected.
Passengers are expected to be aware about enough details as provided by a particular airlines and the certain flight targeted. These usually cover information about the machines used for inspecting items, luggage and other objects brought as carry-on and for checked-in, possible response to emergency situations, and other administrative matters.
Important to mention is the capability of advanced screening equipment and machinery. Screening devices may make a lot of the inspection procedures quite simpler and faster, but also poses permanent damage to sensitive materials such as camera films.
To complete this undertaking, it is imperative that we research and learn about as many matters as possible that compose the standards in air travel industry, through knowing enough details provided by government authorities in-charge. Next, we need to know more about the industry players by analyzing what is presented in their company websites. Only after accomplishing these tasks will we be able to make a wise decision according to our personal limitations.

Paracas 4k | Drone | Boat Trip | Playa Roja | Candelabro | Desert | Kitesurfing
The district of Paracas (Quechua: paraq) is the largest district of the province of Pisco in the Peruvian region of Ica. The Capital is Además. It was home to the pre-Columbian Paracas culture.
The Paracas Peninsula, south of the Paracas Bay and the Islas Ballestas form the Paracas National Reserve, which was established on 25 September 1975 and has a total area of 335,000 hectares. The reserve is intended to protect the rich occurrence of mane seals, blue footed boobies, pelicans, Humboldt penguins and other marine mammals and seabirds. Famous landmark was until August 2007 the rock formation of the Cathedral of Paracas, which was destroyed during the 2007 earthquake in Peru.
On the peninsula there is a large petroglyph, the Candelabro de Paracas, which resembles the Nazca Lines, but is considerably younger. He probably served seafarers as a navigation landmark.
Legend has it that freedom hero General José de San Martín landed on the coast of Paracas on 8 September 1820 as part of his expedition. Tired of the long journey, he fell asleep on the beach. When he woke, he was blinded by the beauty of passing flamingos. Its spread wings in the setting sun were for San Martín the inspiration for the first red and white Peruvian flag, which is also a model of today's national flag.
We went on to a boat trip, have seen awesome kitesurfers and thousands of native animals. We ate perfect seafood, enjoyed the sun and went swimming in one of the greatest lagoon pools I have ever seen. The red beach, fossils and nature were intense. While doing a bike tour we enjoyed everything around us, the desert, the birds, mammals and of cause the ocean with its big waves. On our boat trip we enjoyed the pure calm of the ocean as well as the penguins and the Candelabro. Seeing the kitersurfers kitersurfig was intense!
