The Museum of Lancashire
The Museum of Lancashire is housed in a grade II listed former quarter sessions house (courthouse) in Preston in Lancashire, England. Designed by Thomas Rickman in the Neo-Classical style, building of the courthouse began in 1825. It is now one of the oldest remaining buildings in Preston. The Museum draws on the collections of Lancashire County Museum Service to provide an overview of Lancashire history and heritage told through objects and stories of Lancashire residents.
Having undergone a refurbishment during 2010/11 the Museum contains a range of family friendly and interactive galleries to tell the Lancashire story including:
Lancashire Through Time is based around the County's archeological collections including 4,000 year old Stone Age axes, Roman artefacts and early industrial items. Lancashire at Play contains highlights including part of the Hylda Baker costume collection and Les Dawson, George Formby and Gracie Fields material. The Lancashire People Gallery focuses on the Lancashire identity and comprises items loaned by members of the public revealing some exceptional hidden histories. Lancashire Law and Order reveals the building's court house heritage. Responsible for the trials of petty criminals between 1827 to around 1900, the Chairman of the Court, Thomas Batty Addison earned the name of the Terror of the Criminal for his no nonsense approach. This gallery also includes items from the Lancashire Constabulary Police collection, charting the development of the force from 1839 to the present day. Lancashire at Work highlights the range of industries Lancashire has embraced from agriculture to textiles, maritime to engineering trades, not to mention Holland's pies and Uncle Joe's mint balls! Lancashire Goes to War is dominated by an impressive and atmospheric World War I trench. It also displays information about the role of women during the war and how we remember our fallen heroes.
Other interactive galleries include life on the homefront in World War II, and a Victorian classroom.
The Museum is also home to the collections of the Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry and the 14th/20th Kings Hussars.

Inglewhite is a small village in the parish of Goosnargh in Lancashire, England. It lies at the intersection of the roads from Longridge to Garstang and from Broughton to Beacon Fell.

- Great food and service with a smile. Definately worth visiting.
Sawley Abbey was worth the visit. A lot of the old ruin is still in tact and you can really get a feel of what it once has been.
A nice little village to walk through aswell.
I would definitely recommend a visit to Ribchester, as you ride though you get a sense of how old the buildings are.

Archaeologist & presenter James Balme is well known for his archaeological discoveries and for his films that he writes and produces. In 2006 James invited Tony Robinson and the Time Team to join him in Warburton for a three day dig to investigate a Roman site that he had uncovered. As well as taking part in the programme for Channel 4 James took his own cameras to record exclusive unbroadcast footage from behind the scenes of the three day dig........
Cities in Focus - Blackburn in Lancashire.
Taking the camera around the city streets to record some of the changing architecture happening during the massive redevelopment of the central area. Once a thriving mill town Blackburn was hit hard when this industry failed. It has one of the highest Muslem communities in England yet in the centre of the city you would not appreciate this. Opened today, 1st June 2011, the new market hall beneath the existing shopping mall sees the fruition of one of the biggest redevelopment projects so far.

Ribchester - St, Wilfrid's Church, an Archaeological Dig, and a Roman Bath House - 21/23 Jun, 2019
Wendy, Izzy, William & I spent the day at Ribchester;
... a village and civil parish within the Ribble Valley district of Lancashire, England. It lies on the banks of the River Ribble, six miles (10 km) northwest of Blackburn and twelve miles (19 km) east of Preston. The village has a long history with evidence of Bronze Age beginnings. It is well known as a significant Roman site being the location of a Roman cavalry fort called Bremetennacum, some parts of which have been exposed by excavation. (
Unfortunately I was unable to get any photos/video inside the Museum (which is well worth a visit); but, did get some good photos/video of St. Wilfrid's Church, the ruins of a Roman Bath House, and of an Archaeological Dig that was taking place.
