About the video: Small home video , which brings a mix of some of the most beautiful landscapes of our city found on the Internet. Of course not fit all , the city is a lot of great and is marked by cultural diversity , but is an attempt to bring together some of the most important points of the city.
About the city: The History Center streets carrying tourists to the early history of Brazil. During site visits, one can learn with the help of guides, how it developed the colonization of the first capital of the country. Until 1763, Salvador hosted the capital of the Portuguese Crown in the Americas, and some monuments built during this period are still preserved, which makes the architectural heritage of this highly prized city. In Pelourinho, there are more than 800 houses of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
Several churches and museums complete the structure of this neighborhood, which in the past was official point of torture of slaves. The city stands out historically, too, for being the main port in the southern hemisphere until the eighteenth century. Bahia always had a different coast, whereas the largest number of beaches in the country. So, nature has been generous in the 50 kilometers of coastline that Salvador has, where the natural beauties are as vast as the very coast. With so many beaches, it's easy to explain why the city is so popular with water sports enthusiasts.

Giving Happypacks to the Children of vo' Flor
OnEartHeart recently Traveled to Salvador, Bahia. We took the Teen Family Tour sponsored by Art Helping Life inc. Art Helping Life is a non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting cultural awareness and helping the disadvantaged, especially children in poverty. Founded by Sherri Donovan donovassoc@aol.com.
We gave Happy Packs to the children at the Vo Flor orphanage there, and the entire experience was wonderful. Happy Packs are Backpacks filled with things that make children happy. In this case, they were art supplies. The children were very polite, and they had big smiles on their faces when they opened the bags. They were so surprised because they thought that they were just getting backpacks. But when they opened them, and saw that they were literally filled to the top with art supplies, they just lit up. However, there were more children at the orphanage then we expected, and the little ones lined up first. By the time we got to the 12-14 year old girls, we did not have anything left, but we were still able to find something to give them. Velly Bahia (vellybahia.com), our tour guide, is going back to Bahia in August, and we would like to send with him Happy Packs for teen girls. This time it will be a joint collaboration between kids in Brazil, and kids in America. Also, please join us next April for the Family Teen Tour (vellybahia@gmail.com). We carried 300+ pounds of Happy Packs on the plane with us, and the entire operation was successful.
Thank you children of Saint Anns School.
Thank you children of the Harlem School of the Arts.
Thank you children of the Bronx.
Thank you to my little cousin Trinity in Michigan. Trinity is our youngest member at the age of 6. I would also like to give a special thanks to Yonbue of the Bronx who gave us about 100 stuffed toys. We really did it. Just kids helping kids.
Salvador was absolutely amazing. I have never seen anything like it. The streets rise and fall in layers, and all the streets are paved with cobblestones. The houses there are all connected, and the narrow streets make you feel like you are in an entirely different place. Cars can barely drive around the city, but yet seem to slip through somehow. We went to a square there, and the amount of activity is incredible! People dance, and sell things, and there are amazing buildings there as well. We also took a drive through the countryside, and it feels like a different world. We did not even need to speak the language of the people there to have a great time. I met wonderful people there, and although I could not speak their language, I could communicate with them, and I knew that they were great people. We danced with them, swam with them, played with them, and it did not require language. The children there are just like us. We meet with a group of kids, and we played with them, traveled with them, and all kinds of things. We tried to teach them English, and they tried to teach us Portuguese, this is how Flag Friends are created. Some of our first Flag Friends will be from Bahia. Check out what Flag Friends are about at oneartheart.com. I really did not want to go home. I hope to go back there again soon!
A few weeks later, Velly was still in Bahia. Two kids passed him on the street and said, Velly! Wheres Kiki? They were still wearing their backpacks.

António dos Santos, in Ser peregrino
Última estação: este espetáculo -- mira-me a mim, mira-te a ti, mirar o Mundo.

SUMMARY
=======
The Azores ( ə-ZORZ or AY-zorz; Portuguese: Açores, [ɐˈsoɾɨʃ]), officially the Autonomous Region of the Azores (Região Autónoma dos Açores), is one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal (along with Madeira (Região Autónoma da Madeira). It is an archipelago composed of nine volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean about 1,360 km (850 mi) west of continental Portugal, about 1,643 km (1,021 mi) west of Lisbon, in continental Portugal, about 1,507 km (936 mi) northwest of Morocco, and about 1,925 km (1,196 mi) southeast of Newfoundland, Canada.
Its main industries are agriculture, dairy farming, livestock, fishing, and tourism, which is becoming the major service activity in the region. In addition, the government of the Azores employs a large percentage of the population directly or indirectly in the service and tertiary sectors. The main capital of the Azores is Ponta Delgada.
There are nine major Azorean islands and an islet cluster, in three main groups. These are Flores and Corvo, to the west; Graciosa, Terceira, São Jorge, Pico, and Faial in the centre; and São Miguel, Santa Maria, and the Formigas Reef to the east. They extend for more than 600 km (370 mi) and lie in a northwest-southeast direction.
All the islands have volcanic origins, although some, such as Santa Maria, have had no recorded activity since the islands were settled. Mount Pico, on the island of Pico, is the highest point in Portugal, at 2,351 m (7,713 ft). If measured from their base at the bottom of the ocean to their peaks, which thrust high above the surface of the Atlantic, the Azores are actually some of the tallest mountains on the planet.
The climate of the Azores is very mild for such a northerly location, being influenced by its distance from the continents and by the passing Gulf Stream. Due to the marine influence, temperatures remain mild year-round. Daytime temperatures normally fluctuate between 16 °C (61 °F) and 25 °C (77 °F) depending on season. Temperatures above 30 °C (86 °F) or below 3 °C (37 °F) are unknown in the major population centres. It is also generally wet and cloudy.
The culture, dialect, cuisine, and traditions of the Azorean islands vary considerably, because these once-uninhabited and remote islands were settled sporadically over a span of two centuries.

SUMMARY
=======
