Walks in Shropshire: Exploring Church Stretton

Church Stretton is a small town in Shropshire, England, 13 miles south of Shrewsbury and 15 miles north of Ludlow. The town was nicknamed Little Switzerland in the late-Victorian and Edwardian period because of its landscape and became a health resort. The local geology includes some of the oldest rocks in England and a notable fault is named after the town. Today, Church Stretton is a busy market town in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Walks in England: Exploring Thakeham Church and Bells
Today I am in Thakeham, a village and civil parish in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. The village is situated approximately 18 miles north-east from the county town of Chichester; the parish includes the hamlets of Abingworth and Goose Green.
I am here to meet Cynthia Julian and Tower Captain, Roger Watts who have agreed to show me the beautiful 11th century church and take up into the tower to look at the bells.

This is the section of canal going south on the Staffs and Worcs canal approaching Autherley junction, the junction with the Shropshire union canal. We did not meet any boats this time. Last year when we were on our last boat Waterlily we di meet two, there are passing places !

Measure the outer diameter and the center hole. Remember it is easy to cut the center larger so if you find one with the proper outside diameter that is more important.

Ringing on the Warner three at Warslow. Rather fun - the tower drops a lot of bits onto you, and access is through the loo! A pleasant little church with some fine views, and some excellent windows, some of which are surrounded by mosaic.
