Henley on Thames • The Henley Royal Regatta Town | European Waterways
Henley-on-Thames is a charming Oxfordshire town. The bridge over the river, built in 1786, is a popular landmark. Today Henley is probably most famous for its international rowing regatta, which attracts top international crews from around the globe.
Also popular is the River & Rowing Museum. The Museum has three main galleries devoted to the River Thames, the international sport of rowing, and the town of Henley. Raised on columns above “water meadows” beside the Thames and built of exposed concrete and glass with a steel roof, clad in green oak, the Museum has won numerous awards for its innovative architectural design.

Vacation in the UK | River & Rowing Museum, Warwick Castle
We visited The River and Rowing Museum on our last day in Henley-on-Thames. Unfortunately, The Wind in the Willows exhibit (the kids' main reason to visit) was closed for maintenance. After picking up Badger, Mr. Toad, Mole and Ratty (little stuffed toys) from the museum shop, we headed for a long drive to Warwick.
Plenty to see and do at Warwick Castle to occupy us the entire afternoon. The Horrible Histories Wicked Warwick live stage performance was very good and hilarious.

Oxfordshire Goes Wild (and Wet!) at the River & Rowing Museum
On 19 September 2015 the River & Rowing Museum played host to Oxfordshire Goes Wild (and Wet!). Children and their parents got up close and personal with live reptiles, amphibians, owls and (non-native!) alligators. They also got to play the Red Kite game, make bee hotels, and dissect owl pellets.
Vlog #16 Henley River & Rowing Museum
Our first time visiting the River & Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames. It's a great day out and a very child friendly museum. Your entry ticket gives you admission for a year so we'll definitely be going back again. Great for a rainy day and even better for sunny days when you can enjoy a walk along the river to the play park nearby.
Check their website for special events. Today was the last day of the Peter Rabbit theme. Their next theme will be Roald Dahl's The BFG and there will also be a Halloween and then Christmas event coming up.

Henley Royal Regatta - The Sights & Sounds of the 2014 regatta from the viewpoint of the other side of the river..
As well as the importance of the rowing at the Royal Henley Regatta, the social side of this traditional event is still going strong.
This July 2nd, 2014 we were guests at the Phyllis Court Club and had the chance to be the other side of the river.
Majestic wooden boats of yesteryear are sprinkled like confetti on the water with champagne flowing as heavily as Old Father Thames.
