Mexico Travels: Nuevo Vallarta, Marietas Islands - Hidden Beach, Sayulita - DJI Drone GoPro
We don’t typically go the resort route but a little treasure of an island caught our eye online a few months ago so we decide to try something different.
The Hidden Beach is inside a sinkhole located on Marietas Islands. You can get to the the Hidden Beach / Marietas Islands from a few places including Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita and Punta de Mita.
From talking to locals we learned that there used to be no restriction on how many people could visit the Hidden Beach per day, unfortunately the beach became trashed with beer cans and carne asada pollution (direct quote from a taxi driver), so the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) put the island on time-out for some cleanup and preservation work.
Getting to this beach was challenging on many levels but we made it and it was so worth it. With day trips to Sayulita and Puerto Vallarta on the side, this trip did not disappoint.

Nuevo Vallarta Mexico | Paradise Village Resort
A vlog of two days at Paradise Village in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, which is a town that is 30-45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta.
Video begins with some travel tips at the airport including how to avoid getting scammed in the airport and how to get cheap transportation from the airport, including going south toward Puerto Vallarta or north toward Nuevo Vallarta.
After a pleasant taxi ride to Paradise Village, we grab some drinks at the Tikal Bar and hit the beach before sundown.
The next day, we spend some more time on the beach, play in the water and in the resort pools and water slides. We then check out a bunch of animals, including sea turtles, parrots, a chicken hawk, iguanas and tigers.
Wild Dolphins & Snorkeling in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - What To Do on Your Day In Port
We went on a 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise on the Carnival Miracle. We decided to purchase a shore excursion for the port of Puerto Vallarta onboard. The name of the tour was Wild Dolphins & Snorkeling I think this tour has been renamed Whales, Dolphins & Snorkeling at Marietas Island. It was $80. US each.
It starts out with a quick walk on the dock to a large catamaran. Then it's about an hour out to the island. You have to transfer from the catamaran to a smaller boat, a dinghy. Next they take you near the mouth of a sea cave. You need to jump out of the dinghy and swim through the sea cave to a hidden beach. Some people call it 'secret beach'. It seems the secret is out. The beach is packed with tourists.
On each side of the beach are sea caves to explore. If you can swim with a pair of water shoes, they would be good in the caves.
After some time on the hidden beach, you need to swim back to the dinghy. After you get back to the catamaran, they take you to another part of the island to snorkel. The water is clear, but there is not much to see under the water.
It was a fun trip. We really enjoyed it.
You can take a tour of the ship:
You can tour a cabin on the ship:
You can tour ziplining in Mazatlan:
You can tour ziplining in Belize:
We hope you enjoy the videos and your next cruise.

Well, it was time to leave the beautiful Velas Vallarta, but we were also really looking forward to our upcoming stay at the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. We took a short shuttle ride of only about 20 minutes to arrive at the next resort.
We spent the first day at the Grand Velas exploring the magnificent resort and having a great time. Our day started at Velas Vallarta where we enjoyed a late breakfast.
Emmy had fun at the kids club and then we had tropical drinks by the pool! We had an absolutely amazing time and were a bit sad to leave, but we were also really excited to move over to another Velas Resort, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit!
Even check-in is an experience. From welcome drinks to candy for the little ones, and a relaxing quick massage, the second you set foot in the lobby, you know that you are going to have a world-class vacation.
In fact, you don't even check in at the counter as you do at most resorts. Here you are welcomed and escorted to a table where you can relax while everything is handled for you. I really wish all resorts did this because it sets the tone for your visit and adds more vacation, to your vacation.

My team and I will be happy to meet and pick you up at the cruise ship terminal, the airport or even your hotel. I organize any type of private tailor-made city tour, excursion, sightseeing or transportation service for you and your family.
With large cruise shore trip groups you are stuck to their tight schedule and right down to the forced gift shop visit. Sometimes they pass up the most interesting details about a sight because it would be impossible for everyone in a large group to see it.
And if you can't hear the guide, or you fall behind because the pace is too fast, you're just out of luck. Touring in My Van you will get to places that for a bus would simply be impossible.
You will not waste time in shops or wandering around with people with different interests and preferences. You will choose your own pace and schedule. It's your vacation!!! Get the most out of it!!!!

Walking along Las Animas Beach south of Puerto Vallarta Mexico
Las Animas de Quimixto, which is more commonly known as just Las Animas, is a beautiful beach, in the south zone of Puerto Vallarta, officially located in Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco, Mexico, an area that begins south of Boca de Tomatlan.
How to get to Playa Las Animas Beach
To get there from Puerto Vallarta, we recommend traveling by land (10 miles from the main square of the city, or about 20 minutes) to Boca de Tomatlan, the last coastal village on the road South that takes you to Barra de Navidad. From there take the water taxis (pangas) that shuttle passengers to the beaches of the southern area of Banderas Bay.
It is the first stop water taxis make (locally called pangas) when they go to south in the Bay of Banderas. This section includes beaches and towns like: Quimixto, Majahuitas, Yelapa and some even further south, like Pizota, El Chimo and Cabo Corrientes.
Las Animas Beach is a very popular day trip, there are many tours and cruises that take you there from Puerto Vallarta and stay a good part of the day. It is the first beach, about 2 miles from Boca, (about 5-10 minutes), just after passing Caballo Beach.
It has a pier that helps a lot when disembarking passengers, the beach is a favorite of the sun and tanning fans. The sand is fine and clear, the waters are clean, the waves are usually very soft and the thick jungle serves as a backdrop.
Things to do in Las Animas Jalisco?
There is a good repertoire of small restaurants and vendors that offer fresh sea food and drinks that can be natural or alcoholic. We recommended you try the local fresh oysters and almost any fish dish, the zarandeado being the most popular. There are various activities on site, diving or snorkeling, walking along the beach and many enjoy parasailing.
There is nowhere to stay in Las Animas, but it is possible to find a beach place just up the beach in Casas Maraika and maybe stay at Xinalani Resort and use water taxis to get around.
