Ancient Anasazi art on display at 'Rock Art Ranch' near Winslow, Arizona
Just outside of Winslow, sits a piece of land known as the Rock Art Ranch. It's about 17 miles southwest of Winslow and southeast of Holbrook, to be exact. A bit of a barren and bumpy ride with some mostly dirt roads but once you arrive, ranch owner Brantley Baird, who's been on the property since 1945, is happy to show you around.
A visit with a herd of buffalo at the Rock Art Ranch in Winslow, Arizona
Brantley Baird's ranch of about 6000 acres is home to cattle and buffalo, 13th century petroglyphs on the Chevelon Canyon walls, and an amazing museum of cowboy, pioneer and Anasazi Indian relics. Part of our visit included climbing in Brantley's truck to roust up some buffalo. Brandy, his cockapoo, has a love/hate relationship with the buffalo. Yup, you just don't know what those buffalo will do. Mostly munch and do a little shoving to get to the fresh hay!

Petroglyph Tour Procedures
Access to the Coso Petroglyphs is granted by the U.S. Navy to the Maturango Museum. We are honored to be able to provide tours to this world-class rock art site. Because security on Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake is a priority, and because protecting the Coso petroglyphs is essential, we need all tour participants to be well informed before they leave home and head for Ridgecrest. Winslow, AZ - Meteor Crater
During our 'road trip to the west', we reached Winslow. It was quite surprising to get to the crater/ Meteor Crater is a meteorite impact crater located approximately 43 miles (69 km) east of Flagstaff, near Winslow in the northern Arizona desert of the United States. Because the US Department of the Interior Division of Names commonly recognizes names of natural features derived from the nearest post office, the feature acquired the name of Meteor Crater from the nearby post office named Meteor.[2] The site was formerly known as the Canyon Diablo Crater, and the meteorite that created the crater is officially called the Canyon Diablo Meteorite, the name that is on all officially labelled fragments of the meteorite. Scientists refer to the crater as Barringer Crater in honor of Daniel Barringer who was first to suggest that it was produced by meteorite impact. The crater is privately owned by the Barringer family through their Barringer Crater Company,[3] which proclaims it to be the first proven, best-preserved meteorite crater on earth.

Focusing on their associated symbolism and functions in the landscape, brief comparisons will be made with historic shields, and the significance of the observed iconographic continuities and changes will be discussed.

Ancient Pathways Tours ~ worldviewzmedia.com
Bertram shares from Ancestral Puebloans history, traditions, and connections to the land as well as the sky. The oldest original settlement in North America dating back 1,100 years is Old Oraibi where Bertram is from.
Bertram shares about Canyon De Chelly, and the other Puebloan settlements through out the southwest for what is now Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico. A vast and advanced civilization connecting both North & South and East & West of the Americas to other civilizations in ancient times is fascinating to me.
