This is a slideshow of some of my pictures in various times of the year on some of my favorite spots in Southern Oregon. I am lucky to live fairly close by and so I am able to capture different 'looks', weather and occupancy. Sometimes it is wet and so foggy you can hardly see but it is wonderful to walk in the fog. In the summer time there are lots of people there, walking, fishing, and just playing, alone or with their children. I enjoy the area around Brookings, Oregon and up the coast a bit too. Please feel free to visit my website and you will also see links to my other photography websites. Come walk in the sand, breathe the ocean air, feel the breeze, which is quite brisk at times. Let the sea air and the negative ions wash away your cares. If you see a photograph you would like a copy of, please contact me.

Tillamook County is arguably the best of the Oregon Coast. Five beautiful bays, sand dunes, and three capes are part of it's charm. Lots of great camping areas.
Sunset Over the Pacific Ocean in Yachats Oregon 3-6-2010
This video was taken from the deck of Seacure Vacation Rental in Yachats Oregon. My wife said that she saw the green flash but I missed it. There is four and a half minutes of pure peace in side. So if you need a break and can't ge down to Smelt Sands State Park, Oregon then take a few, relaxs and enjoy.

Gazing through the windows at the ocean in this Depoe Bay home is no ordinary activity. To watch nature here is to experience it. Perched atop a rocky basalt cliff on the edge of the Pacific Ocean just 60 feet above sea level, this home brings it’s visitors to the edge of the world and into the life of the ocean.
This 5,445 square foot home sits on a lot originally owned by a diver and videographer who worked on Jaques Cousteau’s team. He chose this unique spot on the Oregon Coast because it is the ideal place to watch the annual migration of California Grey Whales. The two massive rock formations that flank the home’s viewpoint are a favorite location for the Grey Whale mothers and calves to rest on their twice-yearly migration from Baja, Mexico to Alaska.
Upon opening the front door, the view beckons. The entire western side of the home is a wall of windows where an unbroken view of the Pacific draws everyone who enters. Soaring 18-foot vaulted ceilings framed by Northwest Douglas Fir beams arch over the open space of the main floor which houses the dining room, living room, kitchen, master suite, study and multi-purpose room.
Art gallery-style walls usher guests from the front door into the dining room and it’s attached whale watching deck. This deck is specially situated to shelter watchers from brisk summer winds. The dining room is elegantly divided from the living room by an incredible floor-to-ceiling fireplace clad in one-of-a-kind Texas limestone. Look closely here because hundreds of tiny sea fossils are encased in the tile.
Bamboo floors, which run throughout the home, lead to the living room which boasts views to both the south and west. The home’s view to the south is uninterrupted because the adjacent property was built far back from the ocean’s edge. If the summer sun is too much, electronically-operated shades cut the glare without completely blocking the view. This is a perfect spot to sit in front of the fireplace on a stormy night and listen to the waves crash just outside.
Food and drink are close at hand in the chef’s kitchen and temperature-controlled wine room with room to house 300 bottles. The brilliant blues of the ocean and sky are mimicked in beautiful flecks of cobalt blue in the granite countertops and breakfast bar. Top of the line appliances including a Wolfe induction and gas cooktop, stainless steel Ventihood hood, a large Dacor oven and an ultra-quiet Asko dishwasher make cooking and entertaining easy. A walk-in pantry houses an additional refrigerator and provides ample space for storing everything necessary for hosting family and friends. A mudroom/laundry room with sink leads to the deck dedicated to the BBQ.
The master suite has its own sitting area perfect for morning whale watching or nighttime stargazing. Fall asleep in the built-in King-sized bed across from the fireplace and awaken to the sound of whales spouting just outside as they enjoy a midnight swim. The floors in the master bath are heated to ward off a chill when stepping from the glass shower and jetted tub as you are again drawn by the view of the ocean.
Also on the main floor is a multi-purpose guest or hobby room with a Murphy bed, a half-bath and a study with beautiful built-in bookshelves.
Downstairs, the home really becomes a place where friends and family can gather while still having plenty of personal space. The suite in the southwest corner has two bedrooms, a wet bar and a full bath. The second suite has one bedroom and an attached full bath. An open family room with a stone fireplace has access to the attached ocean-facing stone patio. This patio is another great spot to watch for whales, sea lions, diving pelicans and majestic bald eagles as they ride the currents of ocean air. Making the lower level a true gathering spot, a 6-seat fully-equipped home theater room with a 9 foot screen is ready for movie screening. A second laundry room sits on this floor making trips up the stairs unnecessary. Additionally, a large unfinished bonus room is prime for customization and an elevator shaft - currently used as closets on each floor - stands ready to connect the two floors.
Built in 2006, this home was designed by Van Gilbert, a New Mexico architect, and was seismically engineered by Strickler Engineering to withstand earthquakes and strong winter storms.
Luxury inside and the incredible Oregon coast outside make this home an ideal getaway for a cozy couples weekend or large gathering of family and friends. This home is the perfect spot for whale watching, entertaining and relaxing to the sound of crashing waves.
