Rohida fort
ROHIDA FORT Trek | Camping with TWO PET DOGS | Vichitragad November 2019
What's better than trekking and camping? Trekking and camping with two pet dogs! Watch my vlog as I trek Rohida fort/Vichitra gad. It's located near Bhor (7 km) and is quite close to Pune. It's a short trek (1-2 hours one way) and can be done in one day. If you're looking for stay options on top, there's Kalbhairav temple right on top of the fort. You can stay in it or its verandah!
The Fort is very windy and gets chilly at nights so carry woollens! There are several ponds on top but no provision for food. Therefore it is recommended to carry food and water. It's a super easy trek and can be done with kids. About 90% of the trek is plain and 10% is rocky. Easily doable in the monsoon!
The base village is Bajarwadi and the trek starts near Bajarwadi school. There's a lot of space to park your vehicles near the school.
While navigating, put ZP Primary School Bajarwadi, Kendra Khanapir on the maps. DO NOT put Rohida Fort on the maps or you'll end up going to a completely different base. DO NOT start the trek until you find the school. (Last summer, we ended up taking a different trail and reached the fort's wall. We were stuck and the path was so deadly!)

Rohida Fort ( किल्ले रोहीडा )

HISTORY:-
This fort was built during Yadava period. According to the inscription on the third gate, Mohammed Adil Shah of Bijapur had repaired this fort on May 1656. Shivaji Maharaj won the fort from the hands of Bandal-Deshmukh of Rohida in a close battle. The conflict resulted in the death of Krishnaji Bandal. After the battle, many officials along with Bajiprabhu Deshpande, a chief administrator of Bandals, were inducted into Swarajya movement. Rohida was among the 23 forts Shivaji handed over to Mughals ( to Aurangzeb Alamgir) during the Treaty of Purandar (1665). On 24 June 1670 this fort was again captured by Shivaji Maharaj. The Kanhoji Jedhe had patronage over the entire Bhor state and half of the Rohida Fort along with some patches of land. Further Moghuls captured this fort. This fort was under the control of Pantsachiv of Bhor State, till the Indian independence.

Rohida Fort - A Trek To Remember - Travel Diaries 30
#RohidaFort #RohidaFortTrek #Vichitragad
After such a long posting a travel series video and this one is from last year's monsoon. A trek to Rohida fort or Vichitragad - we wanted to go to some place as it was supposed to be a pleasant rainy weather for that weekend, but we had no plans. Then all of a sudden, we decided to go for a trek and wanted to do one of the simplest trek, on a short duration I could not manage to gather my usual trekking stuff, including my Adidas Jawpaws, one of the best trekking or wet weather shoes, and hence I was on slippers that have enough grip. We started our day early in the morning at around 6am, it was raining slightly, weather was amazing and overall journey from Mumbai to Rohida fort base was fantastic. Remember to stop by at Bhor, necklace point it is a treat for photographers. Also, google might mislead you, so instead of putting Rohida in maps put Bajarwadi village and that's the actual base. We took help of local people and they always help correctly. The trek route is simple but if you are trekking in monsoon just make sure that high winds are not there, the trek route is a massive plateau and the high winds can take you down easily, trust me while getting down we faced the worst of it, we could not walk, whenever we used to lift the foot we used to lose the balance, so we basically crawled some of the open sections of plateau, so just be careful in that regard. Otherwise, in summer or winter it's pretty simple trek. Now, coming back to slippers, we took that risk because we are experienced trekkers and have done 50+ treks mostly of medium and difficult level, so we knew minute details of it, please please do not wear slippers and do any trek, just by watching this video, it's very risky in monsoons. So, that's about it, I hope you have enjoyed the video, then please like the video, comment to share the feedback, share to motivate and subscribe to be a part of common man's family. Thanks once again..!!
