I met with Adam just outside Victoria on Vancouver Island British Columbia. Adam's music reflects a deep West Coast roots and a lifelong passion for Global Sounds. We got to the beach right before sunset and had a view that complimented Adam's playing perfectly.
Duncan - City of Totems, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada
The 'Totem Tour' in Duncan, BC, Canada on Aug. 19, 2012. Located in the southeastern corner of Vancouver Island, Duncan is dubbed as the City of Totems. The town is home to the world's widest in diameter totem pole - Cedar Man Holding Talking Stick. It was carved by Richard Hunt in 1988.
Duncan, the unofficial capital of Cowichan Valley, has over 80 First Nations carvings located throughout the town. It is also home to the Quw'utsun' Cultural Centre. This Aboriginal cultural centre on the banks of the Cowichan River honours the ancient roots of the Coast Salish in the valley, which takes its name from a Salish word meaning the warm lands. Duncan is also known for great shopping and dining, the Saturday Farmer's Market, Aboriginal experiences, BC Forestry Discovery Centre, and its historic old-town quarter.

We took off on an epic road trip from Vancouver to Calgary stopping at all of the national parks in between! Mt Revelstoke, Glacier National Park, Banff, Jasper and Kootenay National Park. The hiking was epic and the scenery incredible, this is definitely one of the worlds most beautiful road trips!

Yukon Gold - Chris St. Jean Biography | HISTORY Canada
Born on Vancouver Island, raised in One Hundred Mile House, BC, 48 year-old Chris St. Jean has been mining off and on for 18 years, and only recently discovered that he has roots dating back to the Klondike Gold Rush.
His great-grandparents were early settlers in Dawson City, and his grandparents were born and raised there. Chris has grown children from a previous marriage and recognizes he's been given an opportunity with his partner Nika to be more present in their daughter Zyla's life. Chris is tireless, a clever miner and a resourceful mechanic. Hot-headed and short-fused under stress, Chris has very high work ethic standards and the stubborn determination to succeed, but he’s hobbled by chronic knee problems that could sideline him indefinitely.

Secret Naval Project Has Nanaimo Roots
NANAIMO - A top secret naval project is being developed under the radar ar Nanaimo's shipyard. The mid-Island operation has partnered with a boat building organization on the east coast, and are making plans for a small military grade vessel never before seen on the open ocean. This is the type of technology that can deal with terrorists, pirates and those type of people' said Nanaimo Shipyard President Ron van Wackem. The proposed two million dollar small sea vessels would come equipt with bullet proof skin, and sub machine guns standard. The major draw that is attracting attention to the cloak and dagger project is the designers push to make the boat unmanned. Some models are being designed to work remotely from a satellite uplink.
Even in the early development stages this project is impressing those who keep an eye on Nanaimo's growth as a technology leader. It is one thing to have a company that can have a few jobs at it, but if it can become a world leader in an area we can get so much more out of it. said Mid Island Science, Technology and innovation council Board Chair Michael Reid.
Canada's military has shown some interest in the project still in development, but so far the strongest excitement is coming from foreign government. Due to the still secretive nature of the initiative those countries cannot be named.

Surfing in Tofino - British Columbia, Canada
While exploring the west coast of Canada, we felt it wouldn’t be complete without making a pit stop in the legendary surf town of Tofino. We hopped on the ferry to Vancouver Island, met up with our friend Stu (and his van), grabbed some surf gear and setup camp at Wickaninnish Beach. Doing our best to fit in to the surf culture and with the surfer dudes/dudettes, we took in the waves and beautiful scenery. Can’t wait to go back!

My brother in law took me on a salmon fishing trip on Vancouver Island in Campbell River. Our guide was amazing so much we limited out everyday and caught other species as well. What a great time that trip was. Definitely a bucket list item for anyone.

Vancouver Canada history and cartography is explored and examined from vintage maps as well as historical illustrations. In the video we discuss various historical aspects about the evolution of the city of Vancouver.
For instance in the video we talk about the indigenous tribes from the area that included the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tseil-Waututh. We discuss the founding of the city by Jose Maria Navaraez and George Vancouver. We also discuss William Van Horne and the Canadian Pacific Railway as well as the various agricultural resources and saw mills that help rise Vancouver's economy.

Tens of thousands of families in the North Country have Canadian roots. But as the years pass, so have many of the cultural traditions.
